[Bug 378891] [NEW] Resume from suspend/hibernate chooses when to function
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Of course, for now, it varies greatly between both desktop and laptop users of Ubuntu as to whether or not the Suspend/Hibernate buttons work. For me, however, I've found that my system is a little different from the existing bug reports, but I'm sure I'm not alone here. My system (HP DV6446us/2GHz AMD64 Turion Dual Core/2GB/nVidia GeForce 7150M/160GB/32-bit Ubuntu 8.04.2) used to always malfunction when suspending or resuming, however, now it seems like it chooses when to actually function. It, at first, seemed like it had to do with luck, but it seems that if I try to immediately resume the system, it malfunctions, if I leave it for 5 minutes or so, it functions correctly, but if I wait more than 10 minutes or so, it also malfunctions. I know that everyone is trying to fix this for good, but I believe that this information may come in useful for anyone trying to solve this bug, knowing that time does seem to be an issue, at least for me. Users of Ubuntu in general, and getting more and more specific until it reaches users of Ubuntu 8.04.2 with the same hardware I have can attempt to recreate this. ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- Resume from suspend/hibernate chooses when to function https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/378891 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 378976] [NEW] evince patch for multipage collated even odd sheets
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince This patch against evince_2.26.1-0ubuntu1 fixes the bugs people are experiencing when printing * multiple pages per sheet (lp107025) * even and odd sheets (lp107025) * multiple collated copies + multiple pages per sheet (lp282659) In this context it is important to know that it behaves likes lpr with n-up and even/odd options passed: if you have a document with 5 pages and want to print 2 pages per sheet, MANUAL duplex print odd sheets: {1,2} , {5} flip sheets and print even sheets: {3,4} IE: you need to make sure to remove the sheet with page 5 from the stack, evince will not produce empty sheets to fully automate the process. This would be nice, but it would mess with other things. Besides, it is the way multipage even odd printing works on other platforms and the native GtkPrintOperation. -- It does NOT solve bugs related to: * multiple pages per sheet + reverse order (lp377102) * the weird ordering of pages when pages_per_sheet = 6 (related to: lp328143) as that would require a complete rethinking of the way the output is assembled for printing. -- It MAY solve: * evince prints multiple (collated) copies as one job * weird stapling behaviour with multiple copies ie: lp258364 I'm not sure about this because as far as I can tell the multiple copies are still sent as one print job, but by solving lp282659 we introduce blank spaces on sheets so the two copies are clearly separated, it depends on how the driver treats this. Although this IS an upstream issue, upstream is completely reworking EvPrintOperation to use GtkPrintOperation if possible (AFAIK). I will submit an upstream bug but this patch could solve problems on ubuntu at least. The patch needs some testing though as there is potential for regressions with duplex printers (as I don't have one to test) and there is danger of a division by zero. I've had this a occasionally with Jaunty, including just now, so it isn't fixed. gnome-screensaver was taking up 99% of CPU while it 'checked my password'. I just realized that my printer (samsung ml-2010) has a duplex functionality (for instance: collated, copies=2, print all pages, long edge, pages per sheet=2) where the printer itself splits the job in two and waits for the user to reinsert the pages and push a button. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 379055] [NEW] Evolution Exchange Proxy miss-match with system
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Preconditions: System is Ubuntu Jaunty 32-bit with all updates Network has a proxy and is configured automatically with a .pac file The following apps run properly: Firefox, Pidgin, ping, apt-get, eclipse, printing No other apps seem to have a networking problem. Problem: When configuring evolution with exchange It can't resolve the address of the OWA URL. The url is https:// When entering simple http:// a different error is encountered Work Around: Change the network preferences from use system setting to direct connection Thoughts: The .pac file only defines a single proxy that everything goes though (http, https, and ftp). Firefox seems to pick up on this and is able to process https traffic but it seems like evolution is not able to process https traffic (thereby generating the bad url for the https url) since the website in an internal site using a direct connection works and allows evolution to resolve the address properly. This condition is counter intuitive and should be looked into. The previous setup of 8.04 with Evolution 2.24 did not have this problem so It is implied that the new package has some slight incompatibility. [Bug 377246] Re: sync with google calendar loose alarm notification
This is a problem for me as well. Ubuntu 9.04, Evolution 2.26.1. Add a Google Calendar by any method (google, web, or CalDAV, though I find that CalDAV works the best overall, see bug 183846). Create an event in google's web interface. Once it syncs down to evolution there is no way to have a local alarm for it. I'm actually not so sure if the alarm set in Google should sync down, as Roberto suggests -- this can be a problem for meetings, etc, with multiple invitees. Not everybody wants to be subject to the alarm set by the creator of the event (there was a long conversation about this somewhere for sunbird). But with no local alarm whatsoever I am missing meetings left and right. In Apple iCal you can set a local alarm on a synced event, which is what I think Evolution should ideally allow for.
