[Bug 118800] Re: Passwords should not be required when creating accounts
I agree with Everett and Ricardo. I recently posted a bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/telepathy- butterfly/+bug/457942) which also rises an important security issue related to the usage of Empathy. Setting Empathy as default IM client for Karmic seems to me to be a bad idea. If it is still the case, these security problems should clearly be exposed so users can switch to pidgin if they want. -- Passwords should not be required when creating accounts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/118800 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 436731] Re: Googel calendar support broken; repeatedly asks for password
I can confirm. I tried deleting my Google calendars and re-adding them. When adding a calendar, Evolution prompts for a password to retrieve the list of calendars associated with the Google account. This part still works. However, once the calendar is selected, the repeated prompts for the password begin. Workaround: Use CalDAV, as documented here: http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=enanswer=99358. Google doesn't have instructions specifically for Evolution but the instructions for Sunbird/iCal are fairly easily adapted for Evolution. According to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=583374 it is intended that CalDAV replace the Google Calendar import. In fact, https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=588856 indicates that code was committed in 2.27.5 to migrate Google Calendar accounts to CalDAV. So I guess the question is, why is this not working? ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #583374 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=583374 ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #588856 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=588856 ** Summary changed: - Googel calendar support broken; repeatedly asks for password + Google calendar support broken; repeatedly asks for password -- Google calendar support broken; repeatedly asks for password https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/436731 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 60448] [NEW] .xsession_errors file grows out of control saturates disk space
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hi, I'm running Kubuntu Dapper, freshly dist-upgraded, on a Compaq Presario V2610CA laptop, with no particular esoteric configuration. In the past 2 weeks, my disk space has been saturated **TWICE**, i.e. up to 100% occ. on a 60 GB disk with 40 GB previously free, as reported by the df -h command (in fact app. 10 MB was still available, just enough to be able to boot/login!). The cause of these events is what seems an ever-growing .xsession-errors file in one user directory. i.e. /home/user. After a quick search on Google, I've found 2 similar reports (one concerning Dapper, the other OpenSuse): http://www.nabble.com/X-error-log-t1364627.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2005-10/msg00044.html However, I didn't find anything related to this problem on Launchpad... It 's quite possible that something is going wrong with my system and is filling the .xsession-errors file with various reports. I did not have the chance to pinpoint what's going wrong since my only concern was to prevent my system from completely crashing. That's why I deleted the file without trying to look at its content (my system was saturated to a point that I could not receive one simple e-mail, Kmail complaining about the lack of disk space...). The only thing I know is that since 2 weeks, I use more frequently Skype and I have created a second user account for my wife to be able to manger her e-mails with Kmail and browse the Web with Konqueror a little bit. Nothing so complex or heavy... Anyway, this report is not about what's going wrong with my system, but instead about the fact that an error-log file, like .xsession-errors, that is supposed to be useful to track problems, should not be the cause of a major critical problem like the lack of disk space! I don't know what would be a satifying solution, but in my case I've set up a script to erase this file in root and all users directory at each hour, by putting an executable file with this content in /etc/cron.hourly: rm /home/*/.xsession-errors* rm /root/.xsession-errors* Thanks for your attention. ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Status: Triaged ** Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: xinit (Ubuntu Dapper) Importance: High Status: Won't Fix -- .xsession_errors file grows out of control saturates disk space https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/60448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

There is not so many bugs open so maybe you could try to look in this list yourself rather than relying on other to do the work? [Bug 458859] [NEW] Totem DVB playback not working in Karmic
Public bug reported: After an upgrade from Jaunty to Karmic RC selecting DVB in totem brings up the channel list but does not playback any channel. The status bar says Playing but here is no video or audio and the counter in the status bar does not advance. Totem stays responsive and does not crash though. [Bug 445123] Re: There's no simple way to disable the gdm face browser
Sebastien, I'm sorry my request bothered you and felt it wasted your time. My intent was the opposite. I looked through the list of open GDM bugs and did not see any that I felt accurately represented the issues I described. I was considering opening new bugs for them, but since you stated that bugs already existed, I was hoping you could tell me which ones you felt were the same, rather than having me open bugs which you subsequently mark as duplicates. The latter seemed like more of a waste of time to me. If you are still unwilling to let me know what you think is a dupe, I will look through the list once more, then file the bugs, and wind up discovering which you think are the same when you close them as dupes. -- There's no simple way to disable the gdm face browser https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/445123 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 77010] Re: Overuse of system beep without volume control
My problem seems pulseaudio-related. Unfortunately, every time I try to go to the pulseaudio package in lauchpad, all I get is an error page saying that launchpad is having problems. Today I first resumed the laptop on the train and it worked fine with the themed beep using the module-x11-bell configuration in PA that was active before suspend. But when I got to work and resumed again (now connected to an external keyboard and screen) something went wrong in PA again. It started beeplooping the sample, and when I triggered a new beep I got the dreaded system beep. And I see this in syslog: Oct 23 10:48:15 krank pulseaudio[2700]: ratelimit.c: 89 events suppressed Oct 23 10:48:20 krank pulseaudio[2700]: ratelimit.c: 245 events suppressed Oct 23 10:48:25 krank pulseaudio[2700]: ratelimit.c: 213 events suppressed Oct 23 10:48:30 krank pulseaudio[2700]: ratelimit.c: 214 events suppressed Oct 23 10:48:38 krank pulseaudio[2700]: ratelimit.c: 159 events suppressed I would report this on pulseaudio if Launchpad let me... -- Overuse of system beep without volume control https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/77010 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to libgnome in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I have checked the output and both the PostScript directly generated by evince and the PostScript which is generated when converting evince's PDF to PostScript generates the offending embedded font code. This means that this bug is not covered by switching evince from outputting PDF to outputting PostScript. Wwe need a real fix of GTK's or Cairo's PDF AND PostScript output.
