The problem I reported is _not_ specific to Sibelius fonts.

Sibelius font names typically start with 'Opus'. The file with all fonts

[Bug 489977] Re: Inaccessible directory has same emblem as read-only directory

2010-02-01 Thread ceg
Thank you for helping out here. I am using the humanity theme though,
and seeing this.

I checked back, and can more precisely add that I see this after:

I added a second user user2 to the machine and added user1 to the user2
group. After newly logging in as user1 and browsing to
/home/user2 drwxrwxr-x 23 user2 user2

I see both these examples with the lock emblem although I can not
enter the 2nd dir:

Desktop drwxr-xr-x 2 user2 user2
private drwx-- 6 user2 user2

/root and /lost+found directories do display correctly with the x
emblem.

[Bug 513168] Re: Printer options and other strings are not translatable

2010-02-01 Thread Till Kamppeter
This is not really a bug, but a missing feature. The feature needs to be
added in various packages, first, the PPD files which come from
foomatic-db and also from every printer driver package need to get
internationalized by making them globalized/multi-language. See
http://www.cups.org/documentation.php/doc-1.4/spec-ppd.html, section
Globalized PPD Support. Only the PPDs of the Gutenprint driver and the
Postscript printer PPDs of HPLIP are internationalized. Second, the
printing dialogs of all applications and printer setup tools like
system-config-printer need to support internationalized PPDs. Currently
they ignore the translations in the PPDs and simply show the English
text.

I am adding tasks for printer drivers and packages which contain
printing dialogs or printer setup dialogs. If one or another package has
already implemented the support for internationalized PPDs, please mark
the task as fixed.

[Bug 445084] Re: click-to-focus window is too sensitive

2010-02-01 Thread avdd
problem persists in karmic.

no compiz, just metacity.

steps to reproduce:

1. open 2 gnome-terminals
2. move and/or resize so both are visible
3. run a 'ls' a few times in each to get a variety of characters on each
4. click-to-focus between the two terminals a few times, and notice that doing
so often selects whole lines, etc.

I don't think click-to-focus should pass the click to the window the
click is focusing in general.

[Bug 96676] Re: function keys don't work in gnome-terminal

2010-02-01 Thread NevemTeve
My last suggestion (unconditionally change environment TERM from 'xterm'
to 'xterm-vte') is a bit rude. How could I do it more nicely? If it were
rxvt or xterm, it would be the simplest:

cat ~/.Xdefaults:
XTerm.termName=xterm-vte
Rxvt.termName=xterm-vte

xrdb ~/.Xdefaults

But alas, gnome-terminal seems to not use resources, it has an own XML-
based configuration system.

[Bug 515465] [NEW] g-p-m acts when switching to console and back to x

2010-02-01 Thread Hans-Gerd van Schelve
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I have configured g-p-m to go into suspend to ram when closing the LID
on a Laptop running Lucid..

Now when switching from X to a virtual console and then back to X the
laptop goes into suspend2ram.

The expected result is that the laptop does not go into suspend2ram.

I found this on a Lucid system:

I thought that perhaps some people had a non-display/print of embedded

that when printing documents with unembedded fonts the Cairo update
helps a lot, I'm not sure if it will help much with the on-screen

[Bug 515155] Re: unlocking screensaver hangs when ecryptfs is unmounted

2010-02-01 Thread Werner Koerner
The problem is caused by the pam-module pam_ecryptfs.so from package
ecryptfs-utils, which tries to mount the encrypted private directory
when the screensaver is unlocked.

This seems to be a known problem and is mentioned in /usr/share/doc
/ecryptfs-utils/ecryptfs-pam-doc.txt.gz:

Troubleshooting

Problem: Attempts to authenticate to the gnome-screensaver
application result in a long pause and a failed attempt.

Solution: Your PAM stack is not set up correctly. Make
certain that /etc/pam.d/gnome-screensaver does not point
to a file in the auth context that includes
pam_ecryptfs.so.

On ubuntu 9.10 with ecryptfs-utils installed /etc/pam.d/gnome-
screensaver includes pam_ecryptfs.so via /etc/pam.d/common-auth.

2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
There is no sound no hardware is found under sound preferences hardware tab.
However, the browser remains stable enough to finish this report.
DPKG under repair mode does not help and seems to report repairing the same
thing twice even though it does not.

If I use 2.6.28-18, sound preferences find my ATI sound hardware and even works
on occasion. Sometimes it by increasing sound
output under aumix and sometimes is by fiddling with pulseaudio setup.

Motherboard has and built in ATI video.

Thank you for your efforts.

[Bug 515523] [NEW] gnome-sound-recorder does not recording

2010-02-01 Thread biblos
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

I've just made clear install of Ubuntu 9.10, gnome-media: Installed:
2.28.1-0ubuntu1, Alsa Driver Version 1.0.20.
i have problem with sound input. Sound output works well, but sound input
doesn't work at all.

For testing I tried to record something with gnome-sound-recorder.
The length is 0 sec all the time. If press play, it says The stream contains
no data.
Also doesn't work audio input on any other audio software (like skype, empathy)
with both internal or external microphone.

It's odd, but on the same hardware, when booting from LiveCD, gnome-
sound-recorder works great.

what should I do to fix this problem?

2010-02-01 Thread Milan Bouchet-Valat
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 511205 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/511205

Thanks for the report, but this issue has already been reported as bug
511205, and a fix is available upstream. Actually, it also occurs in
Karmic, but it's random, which may explain why you didn't experience it
there.

Anyway, thanks for testing the gnome-system-tools in Lucid! Please
continue doing so, especially after the new version is uploaded, to
ensure the changes that occurred in the Lucid cycle don't bring in any
regression.

In Karmic we see the weather info for locations which are already in the
list (they fixed the upstream bug:

to get information for location which I have added manually added in

[Bug 515564] [NEW] USB drives creates double HDD Partition Icons

2010-02-01 Thread dk_zero-cool
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Normally when I open Nautilus on one of my Machines with Ubuntu 9.10, I
see my mounted devices, something like this:

  - xx GB Hard Disk: Label 1
  - xx GB Hard Disk: Label 2

But every single time I put a USB Drive in one of them, the list looks
like this:

  - xx GB Hard Disk: Label 1
  - xx GB Hard Disk: Label 2
  - Label 1
  - Label 2

When this happens, only the last two works.
The first two gives an error: Unable to mount the location.

It's really strange that it clones the devices every time.
It's even more strange that the USB drives does NOT get cloned.

Also, I have often tried where an USB drive was found and mounted by
Nautilus, but where fdisk, gparted etc could not find them. And when I
unmounted them in nautilus, they completely disappeared and could not be
found by any GUI or CLI tool including nautilus.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Empathy is not developed by ubuntu developers so it would
be nice if somebody who want this feature send the bug to the empathy
developers by following the instructions at

tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a

[Bug 514992] Re: Rythmbox crashes clicking on play next...

2010-02-01 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Marked as dup since the keeps moving down and down behaviour is
completely typical of a window unmapped and then re-mapped with
NorthWest window gravity under Compiz (even the Karmic one), and because
the OP didn't seem too certain about what WM he was using (sorry
lsmobrian! but gdm is not a window manager. A better question would be
is it still happening, and do you have Desktop Effects turned on?) :)
