We have been wondering if this is still an issue for you. this bug was
reported against the development release of empathy so there is a
probability that this would have been fixed with the updates.

[Bug 519189] [NEW] does not respect gnome system proxy settings

2010-02-09 Thread Reinhard Tartler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

testcase:

- in system-proxy settings, configure a socks5 proxy on localhost:1080
- surf with epiphany

this shouldn't work unless you have a socks5 proxy installed. This means that
- ssh -D 1080 u...@some.host

should make epiphany able to access the net over the proxy.

this does work in firefox properly and did work in earlier versions of
epiphany, but was lost after the switch from gecko to webkit.

[Bug 452340] Re: empathy does not work with gmail account

2010-02-09 Thread Omkar Danke
Well It seems this problem is not solved because initially I had
problems connecting to Yahoo and Gmail in empathy. It just would not
detect that i'd connected the internet using wvdial.

I found a solution to that problem by changing configurations of empathy
in gconf-editor. So Yahoo started working but yet gmail would not
connect.

So i tried changing the default settings of Gmail account. I tried
different permutations combinations of the following parameters.

Username: myusern...@gmail.com
password:
Enabled: check
Encryption Required: check OR uncheck
Ignore SSL certi errors: check OR uncheck
Resource: BLANK OR Telepathy
Priority: 0
Server: BLANK OR talk.google.com
Port: 5222 OR 5223 OR 443
Use old SSL: check OR uncheck

I tried all possible combinations of these and it always gave me network
error while yahoo was happily running side-by-side.

My empathy version is: Empathy 2.28.1.1

I guess this is a bug or these parameters are not correct. If not, I'm
not to blame, because this should work without doing any manual setting.

Please take note of this.

Thanks for the reply. can you please try the development release of empathy
from the telepathy ppa and see if that solves the problem.
first remove all acoounts and quit empathy remove ~/.conf/Empathy
~/.mission-control and ~/.gconf and then add the ppa
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:telepathy/ppa;sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get
dist-upgrade

If that dont work I will send this bug upstream to the ubuntu developers

[Bug 519223] [NEW] evince 2.28.1 'permission denied' pdf

2010-02-09 Thread eu
Public bug reported:

I use Ubuntu 9.10, evince 2.28.1-0ubuntu1.2
As user 1001 I'm the document owner and the PDF shows in 'properties' rw for
the owner and ro for the group. Evince does not even show the pdf-files in the
directory. With Ubuntu 8.04 all is working fine.
I reinstalled evince because during Ubuntu 9.10 install I had no chance to add
the user ID 1001 what I use in all linux systems.
Had to add a new user and swap ID's. Other programs as OO work fine.
I appreciate some hints how to get it working.

2010-02-09 Thread Mitch Towner
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will
automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect -p linux 519214

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you
may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe
repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect
permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability
to Change Non-Private data as it will be adding information to your
bug report. Thanks in advance!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

I have set the package as ubuntu as this is not a yelp issue.

[Bug 437414] Re: some protocol icons in create account dropdown menu are missing

Most of the icons are done. [ Arturo Ilhuıtemoc, Empathy devs mention
that pidgin imports and a few other in image you posted are not supposed

The one icon that confuses me is the loubserp-mxit , I'm not sure if that is
a protocol or another item which should not be listed there.

[Bug 518295] Re: Apport hooks bug 'NoneType' has no len()

It is a bug in the nautilus package hook: Any file which is not packaged
(I have a /usr/lib/nautilus/extensions-2.0/libnautilus-brasero-

None, which package_versions() doesn't digest.

retracer is a process that operates on launchpad and analyzes core
dumps. After it has completed its run, there is a small chance that the
retraced output contains personal information, so it is reviewed by a
small group of trusted bug triagers before being opened up to the
community at large. Bugs sometimes take a number of days to get through
the retracer queue.

[Bug 446264] Re: nautilus on Karmic doesn't open the scripts with a double click

2010-02-09 Thread smurf
I found the trick.
I opened the properties of a script and in the Open with dialog I found that
it was set to the last item in the list, in some others script no one item was
set. Just to try, I set Open With Gedit in a script, now all my bash scripts
are opened automatically.
That is weird, because at a first time there was no need to set that.
Anyway the problem is solved.

Thank you taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
However, processing the crash report to get detailed information for the
developers failed as the retracer did not generate a useful symbolic stack
trace.
Please try to obtain a backtrace manually following the instructions at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload the backtrace (as an
attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your

[Bug 517777] Re: Nautilus folder manager generates random colors in folder background when folders are opened.

2010-02-09 Thread swampy
I've been using Ubuntu since Dapper, on several machines. I just
received my new Mini 10V (with Dell installed Hardy) yesterday. Sure
enough, the Nautilus background color keeps switching to black on me
(and yes, occasionally mauve) no matter how often I reset it to white
via Backgrounds and Emblems. Black is nasty because all the text
disappears. However if I switch to View As List all is well and in fact
I can then switch back to View As Icons and I have my white background
back. Simply minimizing the window and re-maximizing it does not help,
neither does resizing or moving it. Closing it and reopening it gives
random results, much like opening it in the first place.

Unfortunately the first thing I did when I booted my new 10V was to get
the updates, so I'm afraid I couldn't tell you if this behaviour was
present before then.

~/.config/Empathy ~/.gconf/empathy and ~/.mission-control and reboot

problem still exists please use the telepathy ppa
