[Bug 440865] Re: Visual notification for/correct user response to incoming voice calls and subscription requests not obvious

2010-08-29 Thread Matt Hines
I am in the latest version of Ubuntu - 10.04 and according to Update
Manager, everything is up to date so I assume I have the latest of
everything.

I am still experiencing this issue. I hear the ringing but I can not
find ANY POSSIBLE way to accept the call.

It would be nice if Empathy would all around expand on its SIP
functionality. SIP is a great protocol and it would be nice to have
more options and a keypad or something similar to how other softphones
have (Counterpath Products like X-lite http://counterpath.com)

It is absolutely pivotal, though, to be able to answer a damn call.
Without that ability, the SIP part of Empathy is all but useless.

[Bug 626142] [NEW] evince will not launch external programs in presentation mode

2010-08-29 Thread Pausanias
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

PROBLEM: when viewing a PDF file with associated external content, such
as a movie, evince will launch the external helper application when in
normal or full screen mode, but will not do so in presentation mode.
When in normal or full screen mode, the mouse pointer changes from an
arrow to a finger, and the tooltip launch .. will appear. When in
presentation mode, the mouse pointer never changes shape, and clicking
on the embedded link merely causes the presentation to advance to the
next page.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR: evince should launch the external application in
presentation mode, the same way it does in the normal and full screen
modes.

TO REPRODUCE: Download attachment. Unpack in separate folder. Open
test.pdf with evince. Clicking on the image on page 2 will launch the
movie storm.mov in normal and full screen modes. It will fail to do so
in presentation mode.

[Bug 576698] Re: gnome-power-manager hibernates instead of suspending on idle

2010-08-29 Thread MrMacman2u
Confirming this same bug on Maverick 10.10 on a T42 Thinkpad, I'm not
sure if/what other information might be needed, but I will add it on
demand.

Manual suspend works correctly.

This is a very frustrating bug as hibernate is incredibly slow on this
system and despite the GPM setting to suspend when idle, it hibernates.

[Bug 529338] Re: [regression-release] Keyring not unlocked on login anymore in Lucid

2010-08-29 Thread Shaji N V
I had this problem - but it got resolved in the following fashion.

When it was asking for a keyring password - Click on Details and then
tick Automatically unlock this key ring when I am logged in toggle.
And now it does not ask for a password.

[Bug 270963] Re: when you unmount a volume, show your home

2010-08-29 Thread Jan-Christoph Borchardt
I would say this is not a duplicate but a sequel of that bug.

Redirecting to Computer does not seem such a good fix because:
- It exposes the filesystem even more
- It is very unlikely that you want to continue working in Computer because
there normally is:
  - CD/DVD Drive (which you haven’t used in months)
  - Filesystem (…)
  - USB Drive (the one you probably just ejected)

Redirecting to one’s home folder is a much more sensible and useful
solution.

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 386517

Yes, my iOS4 device seems to prompt that off. It asked to be initialised

get that message. Also, using pmcenery's source fix for

[Bug 378422] Re: Removing unused applications via alacarte results in unusable desktop

2010-08-29 Thread Jeff
Removing .local fixed it for me.

I think I finally uncovered what's been causing gnome-panel, compiz, and
nautilus not to autostart. This has always frustrated me in the past and
has caused me massive headaches -- it seems like it affects a lot of
other people too. I wonder if this is what's happening to most of these
people and they are simply unaware that removing applications from the
menu will cause this problem.

I have a .txt that I use on both my Ubuntu and Windows computer.
A line break in Notepad (win) becomes a double ditto in Gedit,
and a line break in Gedit does nothing in Notepad.

But this only applies to text I have recently written.
The document is kind of old and the original lines look OK.
I don't know, but it might be I've seen this bug since I freshly installed
the amd64 Karmic a few months ago(?).

[Bug 625796] Re: cannot download from the terminal on youtube

2010-08-29 Thread Caspar Clemens Mierau
Hello,

I assume you are using a tool like wget and try to download a file from
the web. If this does not work, this is rather not a bug in gnome-
terminal, but I might have a hint on solving your problem:

Your problem might be one of these:

1.) You are calling the url without quotes, which means http... instead
of http As you url contains a quotation mark, your shell
misinterprets this. So try using
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6vcq_VxMFgfeature=related;.

2.) You are not using a tool for downloading files from youtube. Have a
look at the package youtube-dl.

Please let us know if this helps.

2010-08-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker

Ubuntu Release 9.10 (Karmic) - current release updated yesterday
After system update via update manager last night, I received the following
error upon login:

An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information for
evolution-alarm-notify. Some of your configuration settings may not work
properly.

Now after logging in when I click on a menu item on the desktop, e.g,

When I restart the system the error above comes up each time, but not when just
logging back in after the system freezes.

@Jason J. Herne Thanks for the workaround. Also here the workaround
seems to work. Only it is not necessary to remove the
~/.local/share/rhythmbox/ directory. I did only copied the playlists.xml
from Ubuntu 10.04 to Maverick' ~/.local/share/rhythmbox/ directory.

[Bug 437747] [NEW] How to hide the Accessibility icon is very unintuitive

2010-08-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Currently, in Karmic, the Accessibility icon is shown in the taskbar
by default. This is understandable, however, removing it if you don't
need it is EXTREMELY unintuitive.

The current process:
1.Click on System
2. Click on Preferences
3. Click on Keyboard
4. Go to the Accessibility tab
5. Untick 'Accessibility features can be toggled with keyboard shortcuts'

Seriously, who came up with that?? Five clicks ending with disabling an option
with a useless label for someone who just wants to remove an icon he/she has no
need of.
My suggestion:

1. Right-click the icon
2. Click a new option called Quit.
3. A box pops up the first time the user does this, asking the user whether
he/she wants it disabled permanently.

[Bug 384436] [NEW] dmps suspsend no longer works

2010-08-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

DMPS suspend is no longer trigged by gnome-power-preferences.

Instead the CRT (Samsung 950p) just displays a no signal message.

This was working in all previous ubuntu releases.

The following commands properly puts the display into suspend mode:

xset +dpms
xset dpms force suspend

So its not the display, but something different about how gnome-power-
preferences puts the display to sleep.

Jaunty upgrade as of today, gnome 2.26.1, on a Duron 800 kt7 board w/
nvidia 5200 AGP gfx.

[Bug 626281] [NEW] [Maverick] Have to unlock crypted disk twice

2010-08-29 Thread Dave Gilbert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

This is a regression in Maverick in the last few weeks - it was working
fine in the earlier alphas and lucid.

On my main drive I have a luks encrypted lvm partition (/dev/main/crypt
- i.e. lv crypt in vg main) that is not mounted automatically. I just
click on drivemount applet and enter the passphrase and it gets mounted
at /media/crypt.

Sometime in the last couple of weeks the behaviour has changed and I
need to do the process twice; the first time I click on the drivemount
applet and go to mount crypt, I get asked for the passphrase but it
doesn't get mounted. I do it again and it works.

Here is a segment of /var/log/syslog:

[Bug 626289] [NEW] gcalctool buttons are too big in dutch

2010-08-29 Thread Elco
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcalctool

The buttons in gcalctool (5.31.90) are too big in Dutch (and possibly
also in other languages), probably because they are designed to all take
the width of the biggest button, which in Dutch is Ongedaan maken
(undo in English). Because of the length of the Dutch translation, all
buttons (including the ones with numbers and mathmatical symbols (+ - /
* %) on them) are stretched to match the width of the undo-button (the
widest one in Dutch). This makes the buttons far wider than they have to
be (and as a result of that the window).

[Bug 626296] [NEW] Keyboard layout indicator cannot be removed

2010-08-29 Thread Aristotelis Mikropoulos
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Hello.
I have added a second keyboard layout to my system, and since then, a keyboard
layout indicator has appeared on the system tray. Since I want to be able to
change between keyboard layouts only with a key combination I have set
(Alt+Shift), I don't want the current layout being shown on the system tray.
However, there is no way to remove that indicator from the tray (left click
just switches between layouts and right click does not provide an option for
removing that indicator from the panel). So, it would be really nice if an
option for removing that indicator, would be added.
Thanks a lot, in advance.

[Bug 626060] [NEW] Ubuntu 10.04 Default Themes aren't working

2010-08-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The only 2 themes that work correctly are Ambiance and Radiance. In all
the rest (Clearlooks, Dust, Dust Sand, New Wave, etc..) the theme works
fine except that the panels (I have them on the bottom and the top) look
like the panels in the Ambiance theme. At first, I thought that it was
because compiz is messing it up, but I turned it off and it still didn't
show correctly. Anyone else that has this problem? Anyone have a fix to
this problem? Thanks...

2010-08-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

1. Ubuntu 9.10

2. gnome-mouse-properties

3. When having the dwell click enabled, I expect this setting to
function every session.

4. Some sessions the dwell click setting will not function (as if not

Rebooting mostly solves this.
Trying to solve the problem by disabling the dwell click setting and enabling

However disabling en re-enabling again often results in a change of skin for

[Bug 626319] [NEW] Rhythmbox library not updated correctly after renaming directories

2010-08-29 Thread daamon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release:10.04

2.) $ apt-cache policy rhythmbox

  Version table:

100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 0.12.8-0ubuntu3 0
500 http://fi.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages

3.) I moved (renamed) subdirectory in ~/Music directory that contained
music files. I expected that Rhythmbox would add tracks from new
location and remove old tracks from library.

$ rhythmbox
$ cd ~/Music
$ mv some_directory_with_tracks to_some_other_name

4.) Instead Rhythmbox just added tracks from new location, but left
tracks from old location untouched. So my library contained invalid
(duplicate) tracks and I needed to restart Rhythmbox to get rid of
invalid track entries.
