[Bug 646588] [NEW] installation of plugins required for mp3 playback halt (maverick: automatic codec installation fails in totem)

2010-09-24 Thread Adriano Mitre
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

After double-clicking a mp3 file, Totem opens and shows the Search for
suitable plugin? window. I click on the Search button and then shortly
the search results are shown: gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg/fluendo-mp3/plugins-
ugly. All three are marked by default so I just click on Install and a
dialog entitled Confirm installation of restricted software is shown.
I click on Confirm and immediately a No packages installed alert (only
Ok button) shows up. Clicking Ok does not close it, nor does clicking on
the close icon (x). I have to force the application to quit to close
it.

[Bug 636979] Re: Develop in UFRaw extension breaks extension-handling.

2010-09-24 Thread Ulf Rompe
The bug exists for all extensions having a Condition
id=PhotoSelection selection=multiple.../Condition section in
their addin.xml. Commenting it out and recompoiling fixes the problem
(but disables the batch mode, obviously).

You can temporarily fix the bug by disabling and enabling the addin, but
it will reappear within the next two restarts.

[Bug 633552] Re: In systray, battery state stay as estimating...

2010-09-24 Thread Karl Lattimer
I tried matching the heuristics up with this properly, there are
conditions where there's no time remaining and only a percentage, gnome
power manager is supposed to take data of the percentage over time and
estimate the time remaining, so in theory the time remaining would
eventually be updated, hence why it says estimating.

The problem seems to be that some laptops don't make the estimation easy
somewhere deeper inside of the code.

I'll try and improve the situation somehow

[Bug 646685] [NEW] Open With Other Application... remembers even with Remember this application for $TYPE files unchecked

mplayer in Use a custom command, uncheck Remember this application

mplayer in the context menu prior to performing these steps. I expect
to not have it afterwards as well.

4) Instead, Nautlus remembered the association and displays Open With

I'd used the feature on a daily basis in Lucid and it used to work as

[Bug 633552] Re: In systray, battery state stay as estimating...

2010-09-24 Thread Karl Lattimer
I'm considering this as a safe default, the problem is that for most
people it will be estimating during that period. This makes me think
that there's something not quite right internally in gpm or that certain
batteries are just a little unpredictable.

Switching it to the percentage is a quick fix, I'll propose a new patch
when I get a moment to work on it.

[Bug 619816] Re: Battery status line too long

2010-09-24 Thread Karl Lattimer
 * Sorry the formatting errors were missed during testing.
 * Dropping the percentage was part of the ui spec provided by mpt.
 * The continuous estimating was an oversight, in that it didn't happen in
testing. I can only assume some batteries don't get a time estimation at all.

In order to fix these issues, we should;
 * replace estimating with a percentage remaining, the patch originally did this
 * add a second formatting function which will provide hours/minutes for the
settings dialog (regression in the patch) and have a specific function for
generating the hh:mm for the indicator.

Multiple batteries were untested but were based on the upstream model so
I'm not sure what's wrong there.

Any of the other issues mentioned here aren't related to the indicator
the menu status line being too long.

2010-09-24 Thread Fabio Pedretti
Yes, I already did that.

A similar error appeared also with package libwmf0.2-7 but the bug reporting
didn't work. Error (copied and pasted from the window that appeared) was:
Impossibile installare
«/var/cache/apt/archives/libwmf0.2-7_0.2.8.4-7ubuntu2_i386.deb»

L'avanzamento procederà, ma il pacchetto
«/var/cache/apt/archives/libwmf0.2-7_0.2.8.4-7ubuntu2_i386.deb» potrebbe
non essere in uno stato funzionante. Segnalare questo evento come bug.

non c'è alcuno script nella nuova versione del pacchetto - saltato

Upgrade to maverick then failed. I was able to fix this manually installing the
package with apt-get. Then apt-get automatically restarted the upgrade
(installing and configuring packages).

Also it asked to run:
defoma-app purge libwmf0.2-7

System runs fine now.

[Bug 638513] Re: PyGtk App Core dumps

2010-09-24 Thread Tomeu Vizoso
What would mean that ValueError in connect?

The correct fix I guess is stop using the GObject API for discovering
which signals a GObject subclass has and instead rely on the
introspection API. Then we could mark as introspectable=0 all such
signals and you would get a 'Signal not known' error on connect().

[Bug 573160] Re: Nautilus browser doesn't automatically refresh

2010-09-24 Thread Dimitris Tzortzis
Is there some process that manages the auto-refreshing? Maybe if we
could see the running processes at the time the bug is occuring we would
find that someone has crashed. But we should know first how is nautilus
doing the auto refresh :)

[Bug 619816] Re: Battery status line too long

2010-09-24 Thread Karl Lattimer
The attached patch changes the output to 0h04m in the menu and now once
again says 0 hours 30 mins in the preferences

I've also made the xhxxm string translatable, but this needs to be
picked up by translators, possibly too late for that :/

I can remove the string change and go back to 0:04 instead quite easily.

This also kills the estimating case as it seems to be incorrect, and
just displays a percentage instead.

[Bug 605577] Re: Help contents title bar shows cubes with numbers instead of a proper title

2010-09-24 Thread David Planella
It seems that the fix was not picked up by the latest delta language
pack, but it will be included in the next full language pack before
release.

Another thing that might need to be done is to remove the en.po
translation from debian/patches/07_rosetta_translations_update.patch.
Otherwise I believe the en.po will be reimported on the next yelp
upload. This can be done in either of these two ways:

* Removing en.po from the current patch
* Exporting translations from Launchpad and updating the patch. The exported
translations should no longer contain the en.po file, but it might be worth
checking it out. This might be the easier thing to do, as around this time in
the release translations are updated this way for packages affected by the
NonLanguagePackDeadline anyway.

[Bug 619816] Re: Battery status line too long

2010-09-24 Thread David Planella
I've just been pointed to this bug and I've added a translations task to
keep track of it.

mpt should have a say on 1h23m style formatting, and we'd need to ask
someone familiar with internationalisation about any implications of it.

The translations team will be glad to help here, but what's the actual
question, though?

I've also made the xhxxm string translatable, but this needs to be
picked up by translators, possibly too late for that :/

Generally making strings translatable that weren't before is not a
problem for translators. It might be a bit tight, as the last language
pack will be created next week on the 30th as per the
LanguagePackTranslationDeadline, but if the change is accepted, uploaded
soon and announced on the translators list as per [1], I'm sure many
translation teams will still be able to translate it in a few days.

Thanks.

[Bug 646798] [NEW] eog window size exceeds screen height

2010-09-24 Thread Mahendra Tallur
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

Hi !

As of 09-24-2010 (eog 2.31.92), when opening a picture with eog, the
window size always exceeds the screen height ; which makes it impossible
to see its status bar without holding alt and moving the window.

Please note it does occur from a fresh install / blank home directory as
well.

If necessary and if other people manage to reproduce this issue, I will
write an upstream bug report ASAP.

Cheers !

[Bug 646843] [NEW] printing a pdf with evince is a real lottery

2010-09-24 Thread PEIGNOT Kévin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

I tried to print a pdf with evince, and it's a real lottery. For the
sames documents, and sames parameters, it works whan it want. I join you
to pictures : when printing happened as wanted, and when it's bad. I've
seen that it (usually, but not always) works fine for the first job ( if
it's a little job, one page for example), and then it's bad, even with
simple jobs.

More of that, if the print job is bad, the print preview is bad too.

[Bug 646894] [NEW] Choosing country in gnome-keyboard-properties is too elaborate

2010-09-24 Thread joopbraak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

The system with the scroll indicators on top and at the bottom is not
very useful.

Please add a scrollbar and/or make it possible to type in the first letter of a
country.
Now for a US keyboard (the most common!) you have to scroll all the way down
which takes more then 10 seconds!

Should this be converted to a wishlist/feature request, and how do I do

First of all, I'm using the Maverick Beta Netbook Edition.
