[Bug 697077] [NEW] Usability problem in "Connect to Sever" links in Places
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus When you use "Connect to Server" to add a ftp site to your "Places" bar; you can't rename the connection. For those of us who maintain multiple sites with the same login credentials, this means that we either can't see which site we are connecting to or we have to have the "Places" sidebar take up the majority of the file browser window. Yes, I know that I could add a bookmark and rename that, but this is an awkward solution. It's pretty redundant to have to add a bookmark to your sidebar to a FTP location that's already in your sidebar because the FTP's identifying information is hidden by the size of the sidebar. Not a very elegant solution... Even if you can see the whole information, if you are using grid servers, you have to connect with the IP address, and if you have several of these it gets confusing very quickly. We should just be able to name FTP locations. [Bug 281797] Re: evolution unable to connect to pop server to receive mail
I am having this problem but if I enter my password for about 6 or 7 attempts, the mail finally starts to come through. It finishes receiving some mail, the password box pops up again and the whole process restarts.. enter password 6 times or more before more mail is received. I have been using Evolution Mail for nearly 2 years now but this problem has only been happening for about the past 3-4 months, in fact I think since I upgraded to the latest Ubuntu. It has to be a bug.. Nothing else has changed on my computer except this ongoing problem with my mail.. [Bug 691037] Re: nvidia-settings window expands to extremely wide size, crashing metacity
The Gdk-ERROR message in comment #4 is just a standard error that's printed when an X call fails in a gtk program, it doesn't actually provide any diagnostic information. The one issue that might be particular to nvidia-settings is why the dialog window was so wide to begin with? Did it size itself to that, or was it adjusted to that with manually? I assume the latter but if not, that might be worth investigation as an nvidia-settings bug. But regardless, metacity shouldn't be crashing in this case. I'll refile against metacity for further analysis. You might try seeing if you can reproduce the metacity crash with other gtk programs when resized very wide. As I want the screen title to dynamically show the host I've sshed to I have added this lines to my ssh config file: Host * LocalCommand echo -ne '\ek%n\e\\' Unfortunately since I've made that change nautilus is not able to access any sftp site. I guess nautilus is confused by the localcommand configuration. I would expect Nautilus to ignore that kind of setting as they are intended to terminals only. [Bug 580206] Re: gnome-help crashed (segmentation fault) while printing
Ok. I installed Maverick, and now the situation has became even worst. Help program crashes during its startup. The main windows tries to open, but after a while it crashes (without displaying nothing). My previous complaint was about the procedure https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures which its almost tricky for a normal user. I mean: I spent a lot of time trying to get a good bug report. However it was not possible (see comments above #11, #12 and #13. Now I upgraded to Maverick. I followed again the procedure at wiki pages. The command "bash list-symbols-packages-v2.sh -p $(pidof -s yelp)" is not usable: yelp never runs: it crashes always at startup. See attached file yelp-logmessages.txt for the messages issued by yelp to command line. Therefore I tried "list-dbgsym-packages-v2.sh /usr/bin/yelp". It doesn't work. Its output was unuseful (see attached file "list-dbgsym- packages-v2.sh-output.txt" So far I was not sure to have all the tools "ok" for the debugging. However I tried to go on with wiki instructions. Obviously I was not able to "attach" a gdb session to the running yelp program, because the yelp program never runs: it crashes in a while. Therefore I tried to run yelp from "inside" gdb, even if this approach is not described into the wiki pages (and please, remember English is not my language). Incredible to say, yelp doesn't crashes if run inside gdb. It works, until I try to print. When I try to print, it crashes. Please, now see attached file yelp-gdb-log.txt where You see again the crash info. Many thanks so far. (Please, consider that I'm now "tracking" some bugs I crashed on my computer. I subscribed launchpad for this purpose. This bug seems that it is not seen but anybody else, isn't it?) Ciao ... happy new year ... [Bug 696902] Re: gnome-sessions new .desktop files missing from POTFILES.in
First, thanks for your bug report and your patch to help to make ubuntu better. I've already fixed it in the ubuntu-desktop team packaging branch as you can see there: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-desktop/gnome-session/ubuntu/revision/98 Only the gnome-classic.desktop.in file needs to be translated. The other files are gnome-session internal and there is no string to translate then. I'll then mark the bug as fix commited. ** Changed in: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/696902 Title: gnome-sessions new .desktop files missing from POTFILES.in -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 201786] Re: ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines
I don't think this problem is related to big-endianness. I just had it on a x86 system that was upgraded from feisty -> hardy -> lucid. In my case the fix was simple: apt-get install seahorse-plugins. For whatever reason that dependency doesn't seem to be pulled in when you upgrade. I'd recommend folks try that first if they are having problems. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201786 Title: ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
