[Bug 227244] Re: gnome-screensaver hacks requiring white background are using black background instead
Hello Pedro, It took some time for me to install Natty Narwhal, which I did by upgrading from 10.04 LTS. Before the install, I tested gnome- screensaver in the live CD environment to see if the issue occurred with the standard display driver (possibly Nouveau): it does not. I then did a system upgrade, which was necessary to use the Nvidia driver. Having activated this, I installed xscreensaver, xscreensaver-data-extra and xscreensaver-gl-extra, then brought up the gnome-screensaver preferences and set it to use the Substrate screensaver. Clicking the 'Preview' button, the first couple of tests showed the correct white background. I closed the preview and selected another screensaver, then went back to Substrate. The mini-preview window showed the white background correctly, but showing the full-screen preview brought up the incorrect black background. To summarise: the screensaver small screen preview (sorry, I do not know the proper name for it) shows the correct white background, but the full-screen preview still occasionally sets the background to black. Based on the fact that I have never been able to make this bug appear with another display driver, I'd guess that it's an Nvidia driver issue, though I don't know for sure. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227244 Title: gnome-screensaver hacks requiring white background are using black background instead -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 256589] Re: Window does not maximize correctly in Gnome. It does in KDE
Hello, I don't have any Ubuntu Natty at hand since I migrated to Debian two years ago. However some colleagues have still a 10.04 version and if I find the time I will take a look and retest. In the meantime if someone could do the test it would be great. The steps to reproduce the bug where: 1. Change the screen resolution to 1024x768 2. Open freeciv 3. Set the size of the window manually 4. Maximize In ubuntu Gutsy the maximize action was ignored (as far as I can remember). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/256589 Title: Window does not maximize correctly in Gnome. [Bug 785660] [NEW] Nautilus was not responding for some minutes.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Hi! This is not a very important bug, but I thought it could be useful to report it. I was working usually (I was working with LaTeX and evince display the pdf at the same time: that may explain many of the Xsession errors) when I tried to open nautilus. It then took a long time for a new window to open. I’ve not wait that long and I’ve tried to open a new tab in an already opened nautilus window. It does nothing. When I’ve tried to rescale the nautilus window, it works, but the internal display wasn’t updated. When I tried to close it, Ubuntu said this window wasn’t responding, so I force its exit. Then nautilus was launching again automatically at all returns in a normal way. It’s not a critical bug at all, it’s just that it happens sometimes (but very rarely). I don’t know how to reproduce this bug, but the apport-collect information were taken while it wasn’t responding. I hope it will give some useful information. Don’t take too much time on that bug: it happens enough rarely for it to be very worth. Hoping it will help. Martin. Hi Pedro, thanks for the mail, but this isn't any issue for me any more, because I have changed my PIM to Mozilla Thunderbird / Lightning. I have liked Evolution, but on the other hand I need a software that works. There were also other bugs in Evolution and sometimes crashes. [Bug 778809] Re: xchat-gnome segfaults in natty
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: xchat-gnome (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to xchat-gnome in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/778809 Title: xchat-gnome segfaults in natty -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 785748] [NEW] qtdemux: no 'moov' atom within the first 10 MB [5D Mark II MOV]
Public bug reported: I've been generating 960x540 proxy versions of 1080p video shot on a 5D Mark II. On roughly half the videos, I get this error when trying to transcode: ERROR 5106qtdemux.c(4330): gst_qtdemux_chain (): /GstPipeline:pipeline15/GstDecodeBin2:decodebin215/GstQTDemux:qtdemux15: no 'moov' atom within the first 10 MB Oddly, the same error causing videos seem to play OK through Totem, so it seems to be related to the nature of my transcode pipeline, the code for which is here: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~dmedia/dmedia/trunk/view/head:/dmedia/transcoder.py I'm not sure if the MOV files from the 5D Mark II are badly behaved as far as the spec goes, or if the 10 MB boundary mentioned in the error is just too small. Either way, Novacut certainly needs the videos produced by these cameras to work. When I get back to the states, I'll uploaded some of the offending videos to a public location so others can reproduce this error. It happens sometimes (maybe 1 out of 20 boots) that the gdm menu only shows the first identity as a choice to log in. I usually get my second identity back if I login and logout of the other identity, but it's still an inconvenient bug. [Bug 785797] [NEW] Evolution cannot read aol webmail
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Evolution crashed several days ago about 5-10-11. Now it shows email for months 1 2 of year 2010. Now cannot send or receive. The Calander, Notes, Task and Contacts, Personnel and CouchDB, all seem to work. Things I have done searched Google, reloaded desktop, reloaded Natty, ran 10.04 along side of Natty, all with no results. Did not find a .evolution file so I created one it shows 0 entries. There is no problem opening my AOL from the web. Thunderbird will load the AOL account, from Natty, but constantly sends warnings 'The current operation on inbox did not succeed. The mail server c2mca...@netscape.net.uid FETCH complete'. I got to liking Evolution because it is a PIM and when it was working was easy to use Any suggestions on what to try next.
