[Bug 515155] Re: unlocking screensaver hangs when ecryptfs is unmounted
I am confirming this on an up-to-date Natty. I have ecryptfs installed and I have encrypted just one directory. I use autologin and so the encrypted directory is not mounted on login and I have to mount the encrypted directory manually and so it often happens that it is not mounted when I suspend. Then, it takes a long time (I would say two minutes, but it might vary, until now I thought it just froze and rebooted the computer.) to timeout. I am not sure this is a bug in gnome-screensaver. [Bug 553162] Re: Set $LANGUAGE if the user picks a different locale in gdm, so that language-selector and gdm stop disagreeing
I am not sure if this is related, but I am experiencing problems with GDM overriding language selections I apply on a per-programme basis via the env variable. Normally, when I select Chinese (China) at the login screen, I can still run programmes in English by prepending an env argument, e.g. env LANG=en_US.UTF-8 firefox. That way I can run an English instance of Firefox in a Chinese language Ubuntu session. This was working fine up to Lucid. Maverick was the first Ubuntu release that caused problems. After installing Maverick, whatever language I specified at the login screen would stick, and I couldn't run programmes in an alternative language by prepending env. [Bug 788894] Re: nautilus doesn't create interactive desktop in classic session
I am now able to run a Unity desktop from the Oneiric amd64 20110527 daily-live CD on that machine, and this bug occurs. So it is not specific to classic desktops. ** Description changed: Binary package hint: nautilus In a fully-updated Oneiric i386 system with no graphics acceleration, running nautilus 1:3.0.2-0ubuntu1 and (in case it's relevant, as may be suggested by output to stderr) appmenu-gtk 0.2.1-0ubuntu3, Nautilus doesn't create an interactive desktop when run in an Ubuntu Classic (no effects) session. The desktop is blank, contains no icons (even when there are files in $HOME/Desktop that don't start with .), and does not respond to right-clicking or to clicking-and-dragging). Until the large number of updates I installed earlier today (/var/log/dpkg.log attached), a Nautilus folder window would launch when I logged in. I had assumed that was occurring instead of Nautilus creating an interactive desktop. Now no Nautilus folder window is created. Running nautilus manually successfully brings up a folder window, but does not render the desktop functional. When Nautilus is run from a Terminal window, the following messages (each with a blank line after it) are printed 24 times after the initial Initializing nautilus-gdu extension message: `menu_proxy_module_load': nautilus: undefined symbol: menu_proxy_module_load (nautilus:1891): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to load type module: (null) However, those messages are also printed when I run other GTK+ applications from the Terminal (such as gedit), so they might not really be related in any way to this bug. I've included them in case they are. The Oneiric system on which this occurred and on which I am reporting this bug was created several weeks ago by changing nattys to oneirics in sources.list and running apt-get update followed by apt-get dist upgrade. But I was also able to reproduce this problem on an Oneiric i386 20110526.1 daily-live system running on a machine with identical hardware (also in an Ubuntu Classic (no effects) session). This bug has some degree of resemblance to bug 708525, bug 749703, and probably others, but those bugs seem to lack the necessary degree of specificity (at this time) to determine if they are similar in cause to this bug. + UPDATE: This is not classic desktop specific, as it also occurs on an + amd64 machine in a Unity session with the Oneiric amd64 20110527 daily- + live CD. + ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: nautilus 1:3.0.2-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.39-3.9-generic 2.6.39 Uname: Linux 2.6.39-3-generic i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Thu May 26 19:17:30 2011 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/nautilus InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal - Beta i386 (20110416) ProcEnviron: - SHELL=/bin/bash - LANG=en_US.UTF-8 - LANGUAGE=en_US:en + SHELL=/bin/bash + LANG=en_US.UTF-8 + LANGUAGE=en_US:en SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Summary changed: - nautilus doesn't create interactive desktop in classic session + nautilus doesn't create interactive desktop -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/788894 Title: nautilus doesn't create interactive desktop -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 788714] Re: gnome-user-share crashed with SIGABRT in g_option_context_parse()
Today this crash happened again on the same amd64 machine, but with the Oneiric amd64 20110527 live CD, and in a Unity session. Therefore, this bug is not specific to classic desktops. About twenty minutes later in that same Unity session, bug 789961 occurred (in the indicator-datetime-preferences executable), which is also a SIGABRT in g_option_context_parse(), and which has a very similar looking stack trace. As I surmised in that bug, perhaps the two bugs are really the same bug (in libgtk2.0-0 or libglib2.0-0). Or perhaps they are merely similar bugs where gnome-user-share and indicator-datetime both attempt to use one of those libraries in the same (bad) way. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-user-share in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/788714 Title: gnome-user-share crashed with SIGABRT in g_option_context_parse() -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 788714] Re: gnome-user-share crashed with SIGABRT in g_option_context_parse()

@dreamon You are probably right when assuming that your observations are related to the fixes of this bug. If your regional formats setting (second tab in Language Support) is something else but Chinese (China), your choosing Chinese (China) as the display language makes gdm set the LC_MESSAGES variable to zh_CN.UTF-8. [Bug 666418] Re: gnome-terminal.wrapper doesn't wait until program finishes
Yes, the situation is the same on natty. Googling more, it seems there is a similar situation with konsole. So to portably launch a command in a terminal and wait for it to finish, one currently needs to special-case each terminal, like http://hg.netbeans.org/cnd-main/file/tip/cnd.debugger.gdb/src/org/netbeans/modules/cnd/debugger/gdb/proxy/ExternalTerminal.java#l209 I didn't find a proper definition of how x-terminal-emulator SHOULD behave, but: - http://bugs.debian.org/481123 says Without such an option, urxvtc cannot be an x-terminal-emulator alternative, because x-terminal-emulator is expected not to return before the terminal window is closed. - It's clearly intended to be xterm-compatible, and xterm -e command waits. - If it waits, caller has freedom to background it; if it doesn't caller has *no way* to wait for completion of command. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #481123 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=481123 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/666418 Title: gnome-terminal.wrapper doesn't wait until program finishes -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 771308] Re: unity top bar using incorrect color scheme and icon set intermittantly
same problem. had it while testing the beta in virtualbox (I remember seeing someone posting a workaround for it then, but I can't remember it now). I still encounter it on a clean install on my laptop. seems fairly random when it turns up, but effects the top bar and applications as described by the other posters. for me, choosing different themes in the Appearance dialogue didn't fix it, I just restart (or, I'm sure, anything that restarts the xserver would fix it). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/771308 Title: unity top bar using incorrect color scheme and icon set intermittantly -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
