[Bug 769290] Re: Totem crashes on switching to fullscreen

2011-06-16 Thread tommy
I was having this problem with an nvidia 6600GT. I haven't been able to
reproduce it after downgrading to the 173 series nvidia driver, using
the Additional Drivers UI.

Does this work for anyone else? It suggests this is indeed a bug in the
current series nvidia driver.

[Bug 798032] [NEW] Totem slider doesn't go back to start

2011-06-16 Thread michaelcole
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

When listening to a 10 min audio file, I want to go back to the start.

While it's playing, I slide the Time slider all the way to the left.
The status says 0:00 / 10:13, but when I let it go, the slider jumps to
0:11 or 0:15. This is a bug.

When playback is paused, sliding the Time slider all the way to the
left, then letting go, moves the playback to the start.

[Bug 792359] Re: gdu-notification-daemon crashed with SIGABRT in __libc_start_main()

2011-06-16 Thread Pascal Hartig
I have never seen this crash again since that one time. I suppose it was
a race condition between two instances of the daemon running
simultaneously.

It might be safe to close this issue as it appears to only happen if a
gnome session/Xorg crash occurs prior to this.

[Bug 797764] Re: Document Viewer doesn't respect Ubuntu Classic (no effects)

2011-06-16 Thread Marcel Stimberg
Thank you for your bug report and taking the time to make Ubuntu better. The
choice of Ubuntu Classic (no effects) has nothing to do with the overlay
scrollbars -- all applications that use them under Unity will use them under
Ubuntu Classic as well. Firefox and LibreOffice writer never use them (yet), so
running Unity you would not see them as well.
To remove the new scrollbars from all applications, you can remove the
overlay-scrollbar package.

[Bug 792692] Re: Totem don't play MIDI files a second time

2011-06-16 Thread Brendan Donegan
Hi,

Would you be able to check if this works in the latest release of Ubuntu
(11.04)? When I checked it there the behaviour was still wrong, but not
as you described. What I found was that when playing any MIDI file the
counter would keep going even after the end of the clip. The controls do
not indicate that the playback has stopped (still a pause button there).
Moving the slider back to beginning of the track makes it start playing
for there again.

[Bug 791602] Re: DVD reader is not working

2011-06-16 Thread Brendan Donegan
Hi,

It sounds like you have not installed the libraries to read encrypted
DVD's. These libraries don't ship with Ubuntu by default for legal
reasons.

[Bug 797947] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashes frequently with X protocol error

2011-06-16 Thread Chris Coulson
Hi,

Could you please run gnome-settings-daemon with the --sync option, and
produce another trace when it crashes? Sebastien said on IRC that the
abort message was:

The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
   (Details: serial 102079 error_code 8 request_code 2 minor_code 0)

...and the request code doesn't match up with the stack trace, which
suggests the error happened in a previous request
(XChangeWindowAttributes)

Thanks

[Bug 792692] Re: Totem don't play MIDI files a second time

2011-06-16 Thread Hibou57
Hi Brendan, thanks for your cares,

I've not planned to update to Ubuntu 11.04 (for reasons not relevant to
expose here). However, I guess I would get the same as you, as I suppose
this is unlikely to depend on hardware configuration. I've just checked
again the behavior for my current version, is the one I exposed in the
first message. I also feel the behavior you encountered with your
configuration, looks finally related too.

I still can update any application separately, but did not find any
updates for Totem in Synaptic (nor for libgstreamer). If you wish, I may
be able to update a library Totem may depends on.

Otherwise, keep this report as-is (marked as pending), if ever my Ubuntu
release is not supported anymore, and I will be back to this if I ever
eventually update to Ubuntu 11.04 (unlikely for the time)

If there are any other test I have to run, please, tell me (this bug is
important to me, as it is in some way a bit related to another).

[Bug 798092] [NEW] db2omf fails in directories with non-ASCII characters in the name

2011-06-16 Thread Anton Eliasson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-doc-utils

I was trying to compile Gnote from source code that I had downloaded to
~/Hämtningar/gnote-0.7.4. (Hämtningar is Swedish for Downloads).
./configure finished without problems but 'make' gave this error:

Some research showed that others have had similar problems while building other
projects that also utilise db2omf, see
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=3127965group_id=213712atid=1026806
and http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1755039. Moving the source code
to a path that only includes ASCII characters seemed to help TiBeN from the
SourceForge thread. I tried this as well and the build finished without
problems:

[Bug 792692] Re: Totem don't play MIDI files a second time

2011-06-16 Thread Brendan Donegan
You could try to install 11.04 in a virtual machine such as 'VirtualBox
OSE' which is installable from the Ubuntu Software Center for free.
These instructions are slightly out of date but should mostly tell you
what to do:

[Bug 798096] [NEW] Totem keeps playing MIDI files past the end

2011-06-16 Thread Brendan Donegan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Steps to reproduce:

1.) Get a MIDI file (any MIDI file) from some source
2.) Open the file in Totem
3.) Wait for the track end to be reached (feel free to seek to the end if it's
a long one)
4.) Observe the playback time at the bottom left and the Play/Pause button

Expected result:

Track has stopped and the pause button has changed to play. Time shown
is 0:00/X.XX where X.XX is the length of the track

Actual result:

Time keeps going into infinity. Pause button is still pause button.

Done.
I don't know how to work with upstream so I pushed the gnome-shell change to

[Bug 789333] Re: users-admin crashed with SIGABRT in g_option_context_parse()

2011-06-16 Thread Milan Bouchet-Valat
users-admin isn't part of the stock GNOME3 experience, but it should
work if you still need it rather than the new users control panel.

The crash here comes from a bad packaging/build that mixes GTK2 and GTK3
symbols:
#2 0x7f87f66eca22 in g_logv (log_domain=0x7f87f95c779b Gtk,
log_level=value optimized out, format=0x7f87f9659d88 GTK+ 2.x symbols
detected. Using GTK+ 2.x and GTK+ 3 in the same process is not supported,
args1=0x7fff2b3ab690) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.28.6/./glib/gmessages.c:557

So that's not a crash per se, rather a broken package.

users-admin 2.32 is supposed to use GTK2 only, while users-admin 3.0
uses GTK3 only. When you speak of GNOME3, do you mean you installed it
from the PPA?

I had a problem with power settings and my AOD250 at one time.

I see you're on BIOS v1.03. Updating my BIOS from v1.03 to v1.27 fixed
my problems. (see also bug 400097 and bug 401944)

 Best regards,

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

In GNOME Control Center, under Date and Time panel, the Network Time

[Bug 798124] Re: g-c-c should suggest Network Time option only when ntp is installed

2011-06-16 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Thanks for your report.

ntpdate being installed by default (dependency of ubuntu-minimal) it is
not an issue, and time can always be synced from network (if there's an
access to a time server of course)

This doesn't appear to be an issue or do you mean something else ?

[Bug 798156] [NEW] metacity should support _UNITY_NET_WORKAREA_REGION

2011-06-16 Thread Andrea Cimitan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: metacity

I'm copy-paste the explanation by Sam Spilsbury:
_NET_WORKAREA_REGION x, y, width, height CARDINAL[][4]/32

This property MUST be set by the Window Manager upon calculating the
total workarea region for the currently active desktop. Contains a
series of rectangles describing the area not covered by strut windows.
Work area region SHOULD be used by override redirect windows to ensure
that they position themselves in places that do not occlude struts.

The Window Manager SHOULD calculate this space by taking the currently
active desktop space minus space occupied by dock and panel windows, as
indicated by the _NET_WM_STRUT or _NET_WM_STRUT_PARTIAL properties set
on client windows.

Rationale: Currently, there are cases where override redirect windows
must be able to place themselves in positions that are not occluding
strut windows. With _NET_WORKAREA this is partially possible, but only
tells these clients of a single rect that they can place windows within.
This excludes the cases where there are struts that only partially cover
the screen (eg _NET_WM_STRUT_PARTIAL) or there are struts that cover the
space between multiple monitors (eg a top/bottom case with the Unity
Panel)

** Affects: metacity (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
