[Bug 810894] [NEW] new desktop file in /usr/share/xsessions does not show up in gdm session list
Public bug reported: Going through the docs, I assume that any .desktop file that is found inside /usr/share/xsessions will show up in the GDM login screen as a valid session. However, this is not the case. E.g., I have a stumpwm.desktop file with the following content: [Desktop Entry] Encoding=UTF-8 Name=StumpWM Comment=This session logs you into StumpWM (a minimalistic window manager) Exec=/usr/local/bin/stumpwm TryExec=/usr/local/bin/stumpwm Icon= Type=Application X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=gdm but I do not see an entry for it in the list of sessions. The same is true if I go to System - Administration - Login Screen - I don't see all sessions in the list for the default sessions. (I've also tried coping the gnome.desktop file and modify it, but still no luck). The desktop file has the correct file permissions (644) and is owned by root. what's going on here? Do I need to tell GDM to go through this list again? I've tried restarting GDM but no success. With the latest 10.10 and 11.04, bookmarks linking to network shares are no longer displayed in the file chooser dialog of Firefox. In 11.04, the dialog shows the mounted share in the media list above the bookmarks though. Uploading network files from there works. Unmounted shares are not shown at all - neither in the media list nor in the bookmarks list. In 10.10, network shares are not shown anywhere in the file chooser dialog, be them mounted or not: There's no way to upload files from a network share in 10.10. [Bug 810991] [NEW] Canceled or interrupted file copy leaves leaves incomplete files
Public bug reported: Nautilus doesn't manage well the interruption of copy process: If I start copying something using nautilus and then I cancel the process, what has been copied for this time remains. This is useless, because an incomplete file is unusable, infact Windows Explorer, Finder and Thunar (as of June 2010: http://forum.ubuntu-it.org/index.php/topic,389663.msg3026519.html#msg3026519) erase the incomplete files. This behaviour is very unfriendly because if the user repeats again the operation later nautilus could not disinguish between complete and incomplete files, forcing the user to repeat the whole operation overwriting all files or checking them one by one. The problem could also lead to data loss, if the user isn't aware of this behaviour, he may think that all the file listed in the target folder have been correctly copied and skip them when repeating the operation. OS: Ubuntu 11.04 (debian testing and arch x86_64 too) gnome-desktop 3.0.2 nautilus 3.0.2 It's different from bug #67691 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/67691) Because the problem of #67691 is the error message, which now has been removed, so if before the user could know what's happened, now can't, so it's even worse. The problem is reported also in GNOME's bugzilla: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/process_bug.cgi This is not really a bug rather a feature bug. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/810991 Title: Canceled or interrupted file copy leaves leaves incomplete files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/810991/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
