  5) It appears the plugin installer checking for available plugin;

- It should happen one of the following:
+ What happens:
+ 1) session installer just report that there is no plugin available, without
specifying what is needed.
+
+ It should happen one of the following instead:
  1) session installer should offer to install fluendo or
gstreamer0.10-plugin-ugly (default) (this happens on an installed system) at
least on countries without license problem.
  2) session installer should offer to enable universe source to be able to

[Bug 955124] Re: rhythmbox keeps dropping smb connection to nas device

2012-03-17 Thread Andy Stevens
Tried it again just now; when it lost the connection dmesg revealed
[ 3539.119471] gvfsd-smb[15727]: segfault at 14 ip b7177373 sp bfc7cb50 error 4
in libgvfsdaemon.so[b7169000+23000]
at the end of the log. Looks like you're right that it's a gvfsd problem.
I've only observed it with rhythmbox; on the other hand I've probably not had
anything else making heavy use of a share while running 12.04, just the
occasional file copy of a podcast.

[Bug 958188] [NEW] SMART causes SSD to die with unhandled error code

2012-03-17 Thread Richard Eames
Public bug reported:

I have an OCZ Petrol 128GB SSD, if I run S.M.A.R.T via gnome-disk-
utility my system freezes because it remounts the drive read only.
Checking my syslog I see a lot of "unhandled error code" messages. If I
then do a soft reboot, the SSD is not detected in POST; I have to hard
reset to see it again.

This is my second OCZ Petrol, because the first one completely died in
more-or-less the same manner: it stopped showing in POST. So, I fear it
may be gnome-disk-utility causing this, and not two random failing
drives.

Here's an except from my syslog:

[Bug 958170] [NEW] Sizes from the Terminal menu have no affect after window has been semi-maximized

2012-03-17 Thread James Michael Fultz
Public bug reported:

The terminal sizes (80x24, 80x43, etc.) from the Terminal menu of GNOME
Terminal seem to have no affect after its window has been semi-maximized
using either of keyboard shortcuts Super+Left or Super+Right. The
behavior persists whether the window has been restored to its original
size. Maxmization of the window using the window decoration maximize
button, keyboard shortcut Super+Up, Maximize entry from the title bar
context menu, or dragging the window to screen edges seems not to
trigger the misbehavior.

[Bug 937937] Re: rhythmbox-metadata crashed with SIGSEGV in _start()

2012-03-17 Thread Jawtheshark
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 820601 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/820601

The original poster described two problems here. The crash (which may,
or may not be a duplicate of #820601), which I will not judge. However,
he also reported another poblem, namely that Rhythmbox duplicates
entries in .local/share/ubuntuone/Purchased from Ubuntu One and
~/.ubuntuone/Purchased from Ubuntu. One is a symbolic link to the
other.

I never had a Rhythmbox crash, and I have these duplicates. I installed
a 12.04 machine from scratch, activated my Ubuntu One account and got my
purchased songs. Result: all purchased songs are duplicated in the
database.

[Bug 863834] Re: [regression] Suspend on lid close broken on Oneiric

2012-03-17 Thread Photon
I think, I'm also observing this bug on Xubuntu 11.10 (so no Gnome3
here). In my case, suspend by lid close generally works, but it works
only after one successful suspend&resume (e.g. by manually calling it
via the xfce4-power-manager applet context menu).

Can anyone confirm this behavior?

[Bug 935762] [NEW] Gapless playback doesn't work

2012-03-17 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In Ubuntu 11.10, Banshee doesn't support gapless playback very well. It
has an option in the preferences that claims to enable the feature, but
it simply doesn't.

With AAC and MP3, this is due to a format limitation. In those formats,
the frame length is fixed, and so the last frame has some silence at the
end, causing a slight gap. Several encoders, like LAME and Nero AAC,
have implemented a tag that stores the correct track length in
milliseconds. However, Banshee ignores this metadata, introducing the
small gap at the end of each track.

With FLAC, this shouldn't be an issue. However, there's an even larger
and more noticeable gap between FLAC songs.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Cue two or more gapless songs, such as those on side B of Abbey Road by The
Beatles.
2. Play both songs in the correct order.
3. Observe the gap.

This bug was already marked as fixed in this Launchpad around 2006, but
it's clearly not.

 Status: Incomplete
