[Bug 700900] Re: Some applications crash system monitor

2012-04-15 Thread David Pérez
I have this output:

[Bug 979699] Re: Display on external monitor reverts to mirror display on restart and logout

2012-04-15 Thread Stéphane Guillou
Dear all

I use Unity.
My problem appears when I reboot (my account is set on "log in automatically"),
but also when I log out (it goes back to mirrored on the login screen).

Here are two screenshots: #1 is my preferred configuration, #2 is the
configuration after restart or after loging out and back in.

[Bug 982771] [NEW] Scrolling stopped working in nautilus and some other ubuntu windows

2012-04-15 Thread Rishi Gadhok
Public bug reported:

In nautilus, and some other windows such as update-manager, two finger
scrolling, and even edge scrolling, using the touchpad stopped working all of a
sudden.
Two things to note.
1. It DOES work when I put the mouse to right edge of the screen. Two finger
scrolling and edge scrolling work, just as well as grabbing the scrolling bar.
2. It works fine in Chrome, or Firefox or any other window as it used to.

Using ubuntu 12.04.
It was working fine until a day or two ago. Stopped after some update.
Happens in both unity and gnome 3.

Public bug reported:

in many USB pendrives i see that the remaining time and copy progress
bar stops at 0 secs remaining time and almost full progress bar and it
holds there while still copying files to pendrive. After a while it
finishes but the real remaining time is not 0sec and the progress bar is
clearly not completed. Any of you noticed this?

[Bug 952223] Re: Ctrl+Alt+T doesn't open the terminal in GNOME Shell

Ah, it looks like GNOME Shell can still use gconf custom keyboard
shortcuts with Ubuntu 12.04's patched gnome-settings-daemon.

I'll go ahead and upload the default custom keyboard shortcut then. I've
tested this and it works in Unity, Unity 2D, GNOME Classic, GNOME
Classic (No Effects), and GNOME Shell.

[Bug 982721] [NEW] gnome classic trash icon missing from panel

2012-04-15 Thread peterzay
Public bug reported:

The trash icon, usually to the right of the workspace switcher, is
missing.

The workaround is to launch Nautilus from Places, click on Home, and
then click on Trash.

Slow and cumbersome.

Bring back this applet.

[Bug 952223] Re: Ctrl+Alt+T doesn't open the terminal in GNOME Shell

2012-04-15 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Below I've posted what I'd like to put in a gsettings override, but I
see that the support for gsettings custom shortcuts was reverted for
Precise. Because of the need to continue to support gconf keyboard
settings for Precise, this looks like it won't be possible to fix this
bug until Q.

[org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys]
custom-keybindings =
"['/org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/terminal/','/org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/trash/']"

[org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys.custom-keybindings.terminal]
binding = "t"
command = "gnome-terminal"
name = "Launch Terminal"

[org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys.custom-keybindings.trash]
binding = "t"
command = "gvfs-open trash:///"

(I'm not sure if the Trash shortcut would work or not but that custom terminal
shortcut works fine in Fedora 17).
name = "Open Trash"

[Bug 952223] [NEW] Ctrl+Alt+T doesn't open the terminal in GNOME Shell

2012-04-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

As the title says, Ctrl+Alt+T will not open a terminal. Other
keybindings seem to work, for instance Ctl+Alt+L does lock the screen.
But, other keybindings seem broken as well, Toggle Maximization State
(Ctrl+Alt+5), Maximize window (Super+up), Restore window (Super+down),
and Toggle shaded state (Ctrl+Alt+S) do not seem to work either. The
other I can personally live without, I didn't really know that the
existed until now, but I used to use the binding for the terminal all of
the time.

I am using
  Description: Ubuntu precise (development branch)

[Bug 982685] [NEW] must press space/enter after using alphabetical shortcut of right-click menu

2012-04-15 Thread xgdgsc
Public bug reported:

You right click in nautilus , with the pop-up menu of the file. For
example, I press "p" to view the file properties, but irrationally I
have to press space/enter to actually activate properties, in most other
file browsers I only have to press "p" to activate the command.

In previous nautilus versions it didn't appear. And I tried with the
same version of nautilus with Archlinux in Gnome-shell, doesn't appear
either. So I guess it's related with unity and ubuntu.

I don't know if it's designed to be so in unity.

2012-04-15 Thread seeker5528
Sorry about not keeping up on this, had to give up the system this was
happening as a loaner for a little bit.

I'm attaching the last term.log file where this was failing.

I finally got around it by looking at the installed gconf stuff to come
up with this:

dpkg --purge --force-depends libgconf-2.4 libgconf-2.6-1c2
libgconf2.0-cil libgconf2-4 gconf-service-backend gconf-service gconf-
defaults-service gconf2-common gconf2

: after that I was able to do 'apt-get -f install' and the necessarry
gconf stuff was pulled in and installed correctly.

[Bug 982625] [NEW] Evolution cannot create GPG encrypted mail

2012-04-15 Thread Santiago Roland
Public bug reported:

I created a GPG Key and uploaded to a keyserver.
Then i try to send a PGP Encrypted mail to my wifes address and Evolution
cannot create it, why is this so so so so difficult to do? There is no
applicable tutorial on Google that can explain email encryption well. Please
help

I'm using Evolution in Ubuntu Precise.

This is the error message

Because "gpg: using subkey DD804AF1 instead of primary key 9537BAD1

gpg: sabrina.fernandez1x...@gmail.com: skipped: public key not found

[Bug 878993] Re: x.org lockup after dragging archived file to desktop

2012-04-15 Thread kjoe
You are right, karl. I have also tested it using
lubuntu-12.04-beta2-desktop-i386.iso in virtualbox and I did not succeed.
Then I kept on trying and found another weired 'solution' that worked:

1) Start Lubuntu-12.04-beta2.iso using virtualbox (I did not test it yet on
real hardware)
2) Place an archive on your desktop (i.e. named as 'archive.tar.gz')
3) Open a terminal
4) Type: sudo file-roller ~/Desktop/archive.tar.gz
5) Try drag&drop
6)  -->  crash ! But no problem
7) Press Alt+F2 to get the "Run application" window
8) Type: killall file-roller
9) Do 4) and 5) again
10) --> success
11) Do it again --> crash
12) Do it again --> success

Also if you keep the archive open after the first successful dnd action,
it crashes when you retry dnd.

Isn't that weired?
I don't know what this means, but at least we maybe have something pointing
(anyone of us) to the solution of this problem.

[Bug 982084] Re: "Default Applications" Needs Its Own Icon!

2012-04-15 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
** Description changed:

The steps to change "Default Applications", in Ubuntu 12.04 (beta 2),
don't make any sense to me. Here's what you must do:

  (1) Right click on Power button icon (top-right on desktop)
  (2) Click System Settings.

  So far, so good.

  (3) Click "Details" icon

*** What? Every system setting is a "detail"! How would anyone know to
look there for "Default Application" modification? ***

  (4) Click Default Applications

I propose that we either (1) Make an icon for "Default Applications" in
the main System Settings panel OR (2) do what you've done with "Startup
Applications"; place it right there in the power button's menu.

Note: Even if you make an icon especially for default applications, it
can still open up to the same management window as before (see image
  attachment).

This bug report is a usability issue. I hoping to make "Default
Applications" easier to find for new users.

The fact that "Default Applications" doesn't work right now, is another bug
that we should subscribe to as well (to emphasize its importance):

The temporary workaround is to edit
/usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.consolekit.policy (every time it's
updated)
and in org.freedesktop.consolekit.system.restart-multiple-users and

[Bug 982428] [NEW] selected appearance button looks broken

2012-04-15 Thread Thibaut Brandscheid
Public bug reported:

Precise 32-Bit 3D up-to-date

Clicking at the 'Appearance' button in the control center when in
appearance highlights not correctly the button borders, the left side
has no thick outline. Its a minor visual annoyance, but every detail
matters if you want to be precise :)
