[Bug 953586] Re: Rhythmbox does not properly retrieve tags for multiple CD albums.

2012-08-19 Thread Ronny D Brian
I also experience the problem described by ricotz0; it appears, however,
that, when the second disc has more tracks than does the first, the
correct track list is not produced. Instead, the list is the same as the
first disc's but extends to the beginning of the second disc when it
runs out of the first disc's tracks. Since my first disc had 8 tracks
and the second 9, the last track on the second disc was shown to be what
should have been the first track on that disc. I'm trying to create
images for the two discs in Dan Fogelberg's "The Innocent Age." The last
track of the second disc should be "Ghosts" but is listed as "Stolen
Moments." Also, the play times appear to be copied from MusicBrainz
instead of being generated by rhythmbox (a surprise to me). The barcode
for "The Innocent Age" is 07464373932. Rhythmbox is 2.96. PICARD's list
contains the tracks on both disks. Track numbers are distinguished by
either a 1-track# or 2-track#. I tried specifying "2" in the "disc:" box
(rhythmbox's menu) before pressing reload, but the same list was
returned.

[Bug 1035688] Re: apps using glib crash with SIGSEGV in g_file_make_directory_with_parents()

2012-08-19 Thread Martin Pitt
Fixed recently:

glib2.0 (2.33.8-1ubuntu1) quantal-proposed; urgency=low

  * Add revert_g_file_make_directory_with_parents_error_propagation.patch:
This reverts upstream commit b0bce4ad41937dabf7e5c94dcce3caf4e88f3f97
which caused applications to segfault. The proper fix will be in the next
glib release, so this patch should be dropped then. (LP: #1035688)

[Bug 1038590] Re: Nautilus does not work with SMB Samba shares

2012-08-19 Thread Adam Horvath
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected precise running-unity

** Description changed:

  Ubuntu 12.04
  Confirmed on 2 machines.

Server: Apple Time Capsule, fw 7.6.1

The Time Capsule is listed by twice by name in the browse network (one for
AFP and I guess the other one is SMB). When connecting to the AFP share, it
asks for the u/p then lists the shares.
When clicking the SMB part, it shows empty list, like there were no shares
(does NOT ask for password).

When connecting manually to the IP address of the Time Machine
(smb://10.0.0.1), it will keep asking for the password, saying auth is
unsuccessful. When connecting to a specific share by IP
(smb://10.0.0.1/Data), it lists the entries correctly but cannot copy
directories, only files from it (eg: there is a directory called DIR and
there is a file called DIR/a.jpg. When entering the directory, a.jpg can
be selected/copied, but the whole DIR cannot. When copying the DIR, it
will create a FILE called DIR instead of a directory on the target then
  abort the copy).

Manually mounting the share from command line works perfectly.

The problem is exactly as described here:

[Bug 868358] Re: Hibernate hotkey (fn + ...) triggers suspend to ram

2012-08-19 Thread Eric Ding
Just to keep the record complete, the changes markusj suggested didn't
work on my R61. I'd imagine this is probably the case for others too.
For now, I've worked around it by using CompizConfig Settings Manager to
assign Super-F12 to a command that invokes hibernate, but this seems
like it ought to be a silly regression that should be easy to sort out
at the code level...

[Bug 755198] Re: gnome-terminal stops echoing input

2012-08-19 Thread Dave Gilbert
Changing to ecryptfs-utils.

This doesn't sound like a bug in gnome-terminal; normally something like that
is a case of the ecryptfs mount program
turning off 'echoing' before asking for the password; it sounds like it didn't
trap the ctrl-c and turn it back on before exiting.

(If this only happens in gnome-terminal and not say xterm or konsole
then I'd change it back)

** Package changed: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) => ecryptfs-utils (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1038774] [NEW] Misspelling in Evolution strings for translation, Item 399: "This will permanently remote the memo list...

2012-08-19 Thread gisele perreault
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I found a misspelled string in the Launchpad translation tool

For Evolution - template "Evolution"

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/quantal/+source/evolution/+pots/evolution/fr/+translate?memo=10&show=untranslated&start=10

Item 399: "This will permanently remote the memo list..." shows
"remote" instead of "remove"

should read "This will permanently remove the memo list "{0}"
from the server. Are you sure you want to proceed?"

Do you confirm ?

[Bug 662289] Re: I cannot stop Rhythmbox from scanning XDG_MUSIC_DIR

2012-08-19 Thread Andrew
I'll argue that users shouldn't have to edit a cross-application hidden
text file to use what appears as a straightforward setting in Rhythmbox
Preferences. Either the Library Location preference should be
authoritative and completely override the default location, or Rhythmbox
Preferences should explain that XDG_MUSIC_DIR will always be scanned and
that the user has no control over this.

[Bug 1038738] [NEW] Rhythmbox does not show the Library Location

2012-08-19 Thread Andrew
Public bug reported:

Once again, I accidentally opened Rhythmbox and it started importing a
lot of something—I don't know what.

Since I prefer to have control over what parts of my computer Rhythmbox
uses, I opened 'Rhythmbox Preferences' ▸ 'Music' with the intention of
dissuading it from rampaging through whatever location it has defaulted
to. Frustratingly, all Rhythmbox chooses to reveal to me about its
automated behavior is:

Music files are placed in: Multiple locations set

When I click 'Browse' and open a location of my preference (~/sandbox),
nothing changes. Rhythmbox still displays:

Music files are placed in: Multiple locations set

Even as I write this its progress bar is bouncing away, doing...
something. I have no idea what it's doing.

[Bug 1038733] [NEW] LDAP address book doesn't search LDAP server

2012-08-19 Thread Ole Wolf
Public bug reported:

When I add an LDAP address book, Evolution won't search the database.

I've entered the following information for the address book:

The "Server" field contains "crtdir.certifikat.dk", and the port is 389.
I've specified an insecure connection (that is, without SSL or TLS) and
anonymous login. The login field is left empty. In the details tab, the
search base is "c=DK", and the search tree is specified as subtree. The
search filter is left empty.

The above LDAP server answers queries that are performed from the
command line; for example:

  ldapsearch -x -h crtdir.certifikat.dk -b "c=DK"
"mail=w...@blazingangles.com"

will return its search results for the email address
"w...@blazingangles.com".

For debugging, I set up an LDAP server on my own computer. According to
the LDAP debug log set to max debugging level, evolution doesn't even
seem to attempt to connect to the LDAP server.

This bug has been reported in the past, but unfortunately the developers
have let the bugs expire:

[Bug 303029] Re: Initialize Layer Mask to: Channel drop-down box is grayed out.

2012-08-19 Thread Andrew
It looks like this is the intended, though unintuitive behavior. If I
right-click on the 'Red' channel and choose 'Duplicate Channel', it
creates a fifth channel named 'Red Channel Copy' which does get listed
in the 'Add Layer Mask' window.

My understanding now is that the 'Red' channel is not actually a
channel, despite being called one.

[Bug 1038590] [NEW] Nautilus does not work with SMB Samba shares

2012-08-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Ubuntu 12.04
Confirmed on 2 machines.

Server: Apple Time Capsule, fw 7.6.1

The Time Capsule is listed by twice by name in the browse network (one for AFP
and I guess the other one is SMB). When connecting to the AFP share, it asks
for the u/p then lists the shares.

The problem is exactly as described here:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2035967

[Bug 386417] Re: Browsing samba share gives error: Mountpoint Already registered

2012-08-19 Thread marque
Getting same error (translated from dutch): "cannot connect to
location". Followed by: "could not load the shared folder list from
server.". I'm suggested to press cancel to go back...

I tried the command $ sudo umount -l ~/.gvfs but still have no access
to my netwerk resources..

In my case it happened after doing a partial distribution upgrade, from
Ubuntu 12.04 to Ubuntu 12.04.

Ok, now I'm quite sure this happenes to me, when opera still runs while
I try to shut down the computer. When I close opera before, it works.

(P.S. Some time ago, I think the computer did not shut down, even though
I had closed opera. But this seems to be fixed now, It seems)

Testing Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 on a VM (Virtualbox), I installed GNOME Shell
(gnome-shell 3.2.2.1-0ubuntu1) from the Ubuntu Software Center. I then logged
off and proceeded to test the Gnome Shell environment and, later, Gnome Classic.

I eventually returned to Unity 3D and walked away from my computer for a
few minutes. When I returned I found the following crash message: gnome-
panel crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()

When I chose to relaunch gnome-panel, both CLASSIC gnome panels (top and
bottom) were launched instead of just the top one from Unity. The top
panel shows the classic menus (Applications, Places) and the bottom one
has the 'show desktop' and 'change workspace' buttons, and open
application windows minimise to it as expected. I still have a fully
functional Unity launcher.

gnome-panel shouldn't crash, and if it does, the proper gnome-panel
should be relaunched i.e. the one that matches its "environment" (Unity,
Gnome Shell, Gnome Classic, etc.)

Desired resolution: There need to be two “X minutes” selectors, one for

[Bug 861171] Re: Shutdown from greeter does nothing when multiple accounts open

2012-08-19 Thread parq
I see this bug has triaged a lot of packages/apps.

I think this is a PolicyKit only behavior, and could be some related
issue with greeter (lightdm o gnome) related on how to handle the
request of admin password from PolicyKit.

The rest of packages/apps should be, imho, freed from this bug.

[Bug 861171] Re: Shutdown from greeter does nothing when multiple accounts open

2012-08-19 Thread parq
Workaround:

As I've commented previously, this partial solution is to modify this
file:

/usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.consolekit.policy

and change:

auth_admin_keep

to:

yes

Edit the file /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.consolekit.policy
using your favorite text editor. You will need root permissions.

Change the section relating to shutdown when others are logged in from

Stop the system when multiple users are logged in
System policy prevents stopping the system when other users are
logged in

  no
  auth_admin_keep

to

Stop the system when multiple users are logged in
System policy prevents stopping the system when other users are
logged in

  no
  yes

and the section relating to rebooting when others are logged in from

Restart the system when multiple users are logged
in
System policy prevents restarting the system when other users are
logged in

  no
  auth_admin_keep

to

Restart the system when multiple users are logged
in
System policy prevents restarting the system when other users are
logged in

  no
  yes

And that will allow you (any user) shutdown and reboot the PC when
multiple users are logged in. Whether you want to do that is a different
question.

[Bug 861171] Re: Shutdown from greeter does nothing when multiple accounts open

2012-08-19 Thread parq
@Matthew,
At least bug #86 seems to have the same core problem.

I've published a workaround in bug #86 that i'm going to copy here,
and fix this bug (#861171) and bug #86.

I think the problem is only related to PolicyKit, because this doesn't
handle correctly the 'auth_admin_keep' directive. When an admin user try
to halt/restart the system, this directive may ask for admin password an
allow only to admin users to halt/restart the system.

The workaround goes through modify the 'auth_admin_keep' to 'yes', which
allow to any user (admin o desktop user) to halt/restart the system.

This is not a full solution, but may be a step forward.
