[Bug 1086431] Re: nautilus shows wrong filesize

2013-01-21 Thread cybernet
of course, those from Gnome had to do something stupid on v3.x ...

on Gnome v2.x everything was specified in MB ... because when you
download something the value is specified in MB and not in M, so there
comes the confusion ...

there's a reason i hate gnome3 ...

[Bug 1102707] [NEW] New Standard - Need to add Multi-Graph View with Disk Monitoring

2013-01-21 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
Public bug reported:

Windows 8 has raised the bar when it comes to the default application
an operating system provides for monitoring your system.

In the attached screen shot, you'll see that not only do I get a large
graph for the thumbnail I've selected (on the left), but each thumbnail
provides (in itself) a real-time graph of the stats I'd normally have to
do additional steps to see in other operating systems.

This is awesome, because in one window you can see what is bottle-
necking your system (Processor, Disk Read/Write, Network Speed, Ram,
etc) at any given point in time (real time).

Often, the hard drive is what is bottle-necking tasks you are trying to
accomplish, however Gnome-System-Monitor doesn't provide monitoring for
this aspect of system monitoring.

I'm a big time Linux fan here, but when I see something that's awesome
somewhere else, I fell compelled to report it

I'd like to see our default system monitor be as complete: providing
disk-transfer-utilization stats, and allowing us to see all graphs a
once.

[Bug 720927] Re: gvfsd-metadata on nfs homes produces large number of nfs requests

2013-01-21 Thread John Paul Adrian Glaubitz
As a subscriber of the RedHat bug report
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=561904) I received a
message from a non-public duplicate of this bug report in the RedHat bug
tracker which has been filed by a "strategic customer". The duplicate
non-public bug report has therefore increased severity and will
hopefully be fixed in the future with a new upsteam/patch release.

[Bug 1102630] [NEW] gnome-terminal resizes itself when I click away

2013-01-21 Thread Erin Spiceland
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.10
gnome-terminal 3.6.0-0ubuntu1

Already posted on Answers by someone other than me, but I couldn't find a bug
for it.

gnome-terminal will not stay resized when I click away from it. I can
maximize and un-maximize, but if I drag the corner or edge to resize, it
will immediately revert back to its previous size when I select a new
window.

Steps to reproduce, from Richard George, which are the same as mine:
To reproduce:
 - Open a single terminal (CTRL-ALT-T or similar)
 - Stretch the window [1]
 - Switch to any other app (click on it or alt-tab)
   - - Terminal window will NOT resize
 - Return to the new teminal window
 - Add a new tab (Shift-CTRL-T or similar)
 - Switch to any other app (click on it or alt-tab)
   - - Terminal window will still NOT resize
 - Return to the new teminal window (now with 2 tabs)
 - Stretch the window [2]
 - Switch to any other app (click on it or alt-tab)
   - - Terminal window WILL revert to the size it was before you added a tab to
it.
   - - Expected behavior: Terminal will retain size set by last resize [2]
until the user stretches it again to a different size. Size attained by resize
in [1] should be forgotten.

[Bug 1102624] [NEW] Display Brightness in gnome does not match the current level

2013-01-21 Thread Christoph B
Public bug reported:

When I change the Display brightness with the Fn-Keys on ASUS Zenbook
UX31E, it seems that Gnome does not recognise the value I have changed
to. But if i will go into the Lock&Brightness settings in gnome-control-

like these two settings are separately managed. I am running Ubuntu

[Bug 1101966] Re: shotwell doesn't support using removable storage devices for managed photos

2013-01-21 Thread Jim Nelson
Shotwell will allow you to import photos from any location either via
drag-and-drop or by using File -> Import From Folder. You are correct,
you can only specify one directory as your "library" directory, which
Shotwell can monitor for additional files via auto-import.

One possibility, since most of your media is on your external drive, is
to make that your library directory via Edit > Preferences. We also
have a ticket outstanding to allow for multiple directories:

[Bug 672733] Re: Automatic Mark as Read fails if the first message presented on folder opening is new.

2013-01-21 Thread David Oxland
I have a problem with convert to read.
As soon as I click to highlight a mail piece it changes to "read Past tense"
I've not been able to find a setting to change this
I recall there used to be a setting "set to read after seconds"
There seems to be no mention of this in Help.
Thanks

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-01-21 Thread Christopher Hill
I believe this bug also impacts me too.

Some simple tests made against the same remote network mount (windows
server via 100mbps Ethernet) when rsyncing a 1GB file produce quite
different results.

First when mounted via Nautilus (i.e. via /var/run/user/$user/gvfs/foo)
I get a transfer rate of under 3MB/s.

Then when using a permanent mount (i.e. mount -t cifs //foo/bar
/mnt/bar) I get a transfer rate of over 9MB/s, which is nearly
saturating the Ethernet link.

I've repeated these checks in reverse order to eliminate the effects of
caching, and it seems that gvfs is having the problem.

I can test ispq9.x by installing it in wine 1.4.x or try 1.5.x. Will
make a clean install of either and try the .msi and report to you what
results. Let me know which wine version is best to try. I am a novice
and probably not much help other than simple testing as I mentioned
above. Will try and follow simple instructions you may have if I
understand them. Sorry for not being much help but I really appreciate
every effort you guys make to get it to work. Hopefully others do too.
Thanks again. Bob

I tested it before my patches, and Fwink didn't work. I actually just
wrote a patch that gets it to start. Doesn't seem to generate proper

iSpQ9 won't install due to MSI problems

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-01-21 Thread Sebastien Bacher
because gvfs does tons of things, the main one is handling of disks and
mounts. samba is only one of the backends (it has some for ftp, sftp,
webdav, etc etc etc). The new version has lot of bugs fixed, and usually
GNOME components should be on the same version so you would need to
downgrade nautilus to and old version as well

[Bug 1060435] Re: Evince duplicates a PDF page and omits the next page

2013-01-21 Thread Herman
This bug appeared on my system Ubuntu 12.10, 64 Bit after a recent
update of evince (hadn't been a problem before).

This problem doesn't appear for all pdfs, but many! Here is one where the bug
does appear:
http://arxiv.org/pdf/1205.6214v2

to reproduce it, open the document an scroll down towards the end of a
page, as this is reached, the display of the current page swaps into the
next such that the next page is doubled.

Please give this top priority, it is extremely annoying!

[Bug 1102342] [NEW] Lower-right resize control jumps to near-maximized

2013-01-21 Thread era
Public bug reported:

When I open a document in evince and attempt to resize it, the resize
control in the lower right corner will resize the window to the maximum
size, rather than stay under the cursor.

Grabbing a window edge and resizing from there works as expected, so as
a workaround, I can resize the evince window to the size I want by
dragging from the window edges rather than from the corner control; but
the workaround is annoying and cumbersome, and the impulse to use the
corner control is hard to unlearn.

I include the OS version info etc and below that a command-line sequence
demostrating the problem. Between the first and the second xwininfo
commands, I just barely had time to reach for the mouse and click and
hold the button over the bottom-right corner of the evince window.

I am running Xubuntu, pretty much out of the box. Perhaps the problem
is in the window manager or something? For lack of repeatability in
other applications, I am assuming this is a bug in evince, but I could
of course be wrong.

I am running dual monitors, the screen geometry as reported by xwininfo
-root is 3840x1080.

I asked a question "how to get some attention to a important bug" -
during an chat with one of the guys from ubuntu. "ubuntu on air"

he told me I needed to contact "developer team" - easier said, than
done, after much searching I found mail address of somewhat significant
member, team admin. Sent mail, explaining that this is very important
to many users, business users, and very, very, discouraging to anyone
that tries Ubuntu at home and have som sort of network/NAS/server.

no response - that was >1 week ago.

2013-01-21 Thread Alessandro Lazzari
I'm also wondering why this bug is being ignored. Everybody posting here
please don't forget to mark this bug as affecting you. I don't know of
another way to bring this to the devs attention.
