[Bug 1101154] Re: all signal handlers have been removed in error

2013-07-31 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Thank you for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

I apologize for the delay. This isn't really my area of expertise so
could you please include some more information so I can test and verify
whether a fix works:

1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Another thing I noticed: when installing Blueman i can no longer use
Bluetooth Audio (13.04, have not tried on 13.10 so far).

[Bug 1207079] [NEW] alacarte: no user journey for associating filetype with new binary script

2013-07-31 Thread Cefn
Public bug reported:

I have spent a very long time trying to use any kind of GUI tool to
configure a file association in Ubuntu Gnome, with no success.

I finally was forced to find old .desktop files from a previous desktop
backup which I'd manually authored before.

The requirement is simple - use a specific script in a known path to
open PDFs

However, there doesn't appear to be any usable mechanism for doing this,
principally because Nautilus (now?) filters the possible applications to
launch a specific file according to the Mime type, yet there is no way
to specify the Mime type association for a new application aside from
manually editing text files and forcing update of the desktop databases
directly. Alacarte should ideally anticipate this.

Given the simplicity of this requirement, and how commonly it's likely
to be needed, this is a major oversight for the function of Alacarte.

[Bug 1207023] [NEW] USB headset cannot be selected in settings on 1st plugin

2013-07-31 Thread Greg Banks
Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu Quantal (12.10). I have Logitech USB headset. The
firts time I plugged it into a USB port, the System
Settings/Sound/Output panel immediately showed the device and allowed it
to be selected. However selecting it did not change the flow of audio,
which was still emitted from the internal speakers. Also, closing the
settings panel and opening a new one showed both devices but had the
internal speakers selected. So it seems to me there are two problems:

a) The settings panel is failing to set the default sink in PulseAudio, but
not detecting the failure or not handling it, e.g. with a visible error message.
b) PulseAudio does not automatically switch to the USB headset when it's
plugged in.

Following "advice" on the Internet, I found the following workaround:

1. remove or move aside ~/.pulse/probably two bugs:
2. leave the USB headset plugged in
3. log out and log in again

After this, I can plug the headset in and successfully manually select
it for output and input using the settings panel. It's still not
automatically becoming the default. So this works around problem a) not
problem b).

The headset appears in lsusb as

Bus 001 Device 021: ID 046d:0a01 Logitech, Inc. USB Headset

[Bug 374101] Re: Brasero hangs at Normalizing tracks

2013-07-31 Thread Bart van Andel
Happens to me too, I'm on Linux Mint 15 Olivia (based on Ubuntu raring).

I inspected the file being (slowly) generated in /tmp only to find loads and
loads of repeating messages:
"BraseroNormalize called brasero_job_get_tracks"

The first track has been processed fine (with just a few of these lines
per track, also before this track got processed by the way), but after
that: zero progress.

Part of the dump, maybe this helps:

[Bug 1206987] [NEW] No right-click option for Bookmarks, keyboard shortcut and menu entry hard to find

2013-07-31 Thread Cefn
Public bug reported:

I struggled navigating the Nautilus interface to find a mechanism to add
items to Places, before finally looking up online to find a keyboard
shortcut. When navigating e.g. in /home/user the "Bookmark this item"
entry is greyed out (and essentially invisible with the contrast
settings of the default Ubuntu Gnome theme) apparently because the Home
folder is already mapped to Places, so it can't be added as a bookmark.

By extensively exploring documentation I learned the long way round
there is a Bookmarks entry (which is invisible until the first item is
added). Altogether this meant it was extremely hard to figure out how to
use Nautilus to create shortcuts.

Preferably, a right-click entry on a folder would offer an 'add as
Bookmark' menu entry.

[Bug 1206981] [NEW] Text form field not redrawn upon HOME/END keypress with some CSS styles

2013-07-31 Thread Erik Meitner
Public bug reported:

This depends upon certain CSS styles being applied to the INPUT form
element.

1. Go to http://rt.easter-eggs.org/demos/testing/
2. enter some text in the user name field
3. Press HOME on the keyboard.
4. Notice that the text(and background color) has been removed and not redrawn
5. Moving the cursor or selecting the text will cause it to be redrawn

Other forms on that site also exhibit this behavor.

I have also observed other page elements getting erased while moving
around the page with the tab key.

[Bug 1206945] [NEW] workspace switcher does not work with up/down arrow commands

2013-07-31 Thread Susan Cragin
Public bug reported:

I have four active workspaces.
When I hit CTL-ALT left-arrow or CTL-ALT right-arrow, the workspace switches.
However, when I hit CTL-ALT up-arrow or CTL-ALT down-arrow, nothing happens.

The same for moving active program to a new workspace.
When I hit CTL-ALT-SHIFT left-arrow or CTL-ALT-SHIFT right-arrow, the program
changes workspaces.
However, when I hit CTL-ALT-SHIFT up-arrow or CTL-ALT-SHIFT down-arrow, nothing
happens.

yes, as stated in comment #1 on this bug...

The issue is mostly a manpower one, if you want to do the
backport/attach a debdiff to the bug/file the stable update informations
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates: impact/test
case/regression potential) that would help, I can review/sponsor the
update

[Bug 250517] Re: gvfs performs slowly on bulk sftp transfers

2013-07-31 Thread Mykoxy
Yes, the problem still exists and has some very weird properties.

Using the sftp cli I get speeds up to 800kb/s which is the max due to
overhead and others services that eat up upload speed.

Using nautilus gvfs, I get under the same conditions 250 - 350 kb/s.

The strange thing is thoug, that when I copy another file simultaniously
it reaches the same speed as the first one, even a bit faster. The
maximum is reached with 3 or 4 parallel downloads, depending on the load
of the uplink.

Very strange indeed...

[Bug 1064140] Re: Authenticated printing on remote servers broken

2013-07-31 Thread Matthias Schiffer
So... can I expect that the fix will ever be ported to Precise? I'd also
accept a no, but getting an answer at all would be nice.

So I made another patch to fix the battery type issue.

Hi,

I made a patch to fix this issue.
The root cause is in upower instead of gnome-power-manager.

[Bug 713426] Re: Splash screen inconsistent with other Ubuntu applications

2013-07-31 Thread Michael Schumacher
This is as easy or as hard as ensuring that the following parameter is
used in any command that starts GIMP (by shortcut, context menu, ...):

-s, --no-splash
Do not show the splash screen.

See http://www.gimp.org/man/gimp.html
