Re: [Bug 1460062] Re: Scrollback with Shift-PageUp Shift-PageDown does not refresh screen
Egmont Koblinger egm...@gmail.com writes: Let's start with the simplest one: no highlighting, just Shift+Page{Up,Down}. How does the bug occur exactly? How can I reproduce it? (I'm using these keys all the time and never had a problem, except for https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160127). Basically, when using Shift+Page{Up,Down}, the display tends to lack one keypress behind. So if you change direction, it appears as if the first move is in the wrong direction. It may well be relevant that I am using Cinnamon as my desktop. Maybe it is less generous with expose or other events. It also helps if there is no other action on the screen (no other window). My terminal window is always vertically maximized and there are several terminal tabs in it. It's not perfectly reproducible, but doing S-PageUp and S-PageDown several times in a row is rather likely to trigger it. Sometimes the cursor blinking causes a refresh, so it's also more likely with the cursor off-screen. -- David Kastrup -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1460062 Title: Scrollback with Shift-PageUp Shift-PageDown does not refresh screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1460062/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Sounds really interesting. Any chance of this being the same as https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=730763 ? Could also indeed be an issue related to Cinnamon. Can you try to reproduce under a different WM? Can you download vte-0.38.3, compile with ./configure --enable-debug; make and launch with ./src/vte-2.91, does it also misbehave? If so, start with VTE_DEBUG=all ./src/vte-2.91, do you see the entire window flashing up in red for each Shift+PageXx keypress, and is the result still buggy? Is there output produced between the Shift+PageXx keypresses, or is it irrelevant? ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #730763 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=730763 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1460062 Title: Scrollback with Shift-PageUp Shift-PageDown does not refresh screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1460062/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1351890] Re: Changing external screen resolution with dual monitors
[Impact] Due to a bug in GTK+2, mate-display-properties crashes when the screen resolution is changed *outside* of it (e.g. by changing the resolution not via that app, but somewhere else). The attached patches fix the issue in GTK+2 and prevent crashing of m-d-p. Since this issue caused much inconvenience for users, the fix should be backported to all current stable releases of Ubuntu. [Test Case] The easiest way to reproduce it is via Virtualbox: 1. Run mate-display-properties in the VM. 2. Make the VM go full-screen. 3. See m-d-p crash. [Regression Potential] After several months of testing the patched version of GTK+2 in Debian Jessie, I found no regressions. I consider the regression risk very low here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1351890 Title: Changing external screen resolution with dual monitors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/1351890/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1069964] Re: Two processes attempt to mount blank optical discs
Probably the descriptions are a little obsolete, or otherwise gloss over the technical details the end users wont understand. nautilus has never managed the automounts afaik, the automount helpers (i.e the auto-run actions) did live in nautilus in GNOME2, moved to gnome-settings-daemon in 3.0 and these days live within gnome-shell (Since 3.12 or something). My best guess (and its only that causesince I could never reliably reproduce this bug and poke around with gdb), is that somehow a stale volume ends up stored (possibly due to unclean ejection of cd or just a plain leak) within the volume monitor, there is an update_mounts function in gvfs that is probably triggered by the insertion of the new CD and gvfs/GIO run through this an mount that old leaked volume. Of course it could also be a race or any other number of things, however I don't think its the filemanagers, they are just doing what they are told by the lower level software. I just don't have time to dig into this, especially when I can't reproduce. Now if you were to poke into the GIO volume monitor, you could possibly confirm that, however afaik there is no easy way to do that other than writing code. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to glib2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069964 Title: Two processes attempt to mount blank optical discs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1069964/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1461061] Re: Normalizing import version across ubuntu components
This was a valid problem in the UI Toolkit in the previous versions - we had the main component set 1.2, the ListItems 1.1, etc. From 15.10 onwards all its sub-modules, including themes will be aligned to 1.3 version, and the plan is that with the next LTS (16.04) we will open 2.0, which will not necessarily mean every LTS will bring major release update. However. Bumping version with every release in modules which do not bring new APIs are a bit of an overkill. For instance if Content Hub brings a new API let's say in 1.4, and UI Toolkit doesn't bring anything for 1.4, that would mean that we would need to duplicate theme files for 1.4 just because we need to rise the version of the toolkit, which is a bit of an unnecessary work - remember, themes are loaded runtime and not resolved through the QML type system, so qmldir tricks do not apply there. ** Changed in: ubuntu-ui-toolkit (Ubuntu) Status: New = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to location-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1461061 Title: Normalizing import version across ubuntu components To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/content-hub/+bug/1461061/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
