[Bug 1477757] [NEW] users-admin does not scale down to 800x600 display with window decorations on lubuntu
Public bug reported: To reproduce crate a new user in users admin and then click on account type to change the user account type on a 800x600 display that virtual machiens can end up stuck at or netbooks. Virtual machienes. This still can be a problem for virtual machienes as there a quite a few laptops which still to this day ship with 1366x768 and if you are running a vm in windowed mode you will most likely want a smaller resolution. As such the ok button to change user type gets cut off by lxpanel by too much padding when your account type of the newly created user is custom. IF set to desktop Description:Ubuntu Wily Werewolf (development branch) Release:15.10 I expected the window to fit in the screen considering lubuntu targets older hardware which on laptop might not support largerest resolution. Instead if I have it set to normal user I don't get it cut off on the screen. In lxde with openbox a partial workaround is to undecorate the window then it barely fits but you cannot say minimize it with the mouse easily. [Bug 1477330] [NEW] open new folder in tab should put new tab on top
You have been subscribed to a public bug: In the files menu if the user selects the option to open a folder in a new tab it seems obvious to me that the user wants to immediately start working in that folder. However the new folder is opened behind the current folder, so the user must explicitly select the new folder to work on. I cannot think of any logical situation in which after opening a new folder the user would prefer to continue working in whatever random folder currently happens to be on top. I cannot find any tweak that controls this behavior. [Bug 1476705] Re: postscript printer hideously slow in some cases (pdftops)
You do not need to edit the PPD to limit rendering resolution. Keep the PPD in its original state and also choose the printer-internal resolution (by the appropriate PPD option) to your liking. The set the maximum resolution used for bitmap operations in the pdftops filter via the pdftops-max-image-resolution option: lpadmin -p printer -o pdftops-max-image-resolution-default=600 You can also choose 300 or whatever is most suitable. [Bug 1476705] Re: postscript printer hideously slow in some cases (pdftops)
@James Cloos: So pdftocairo seems a better choice, no? @cliddell: I tried to edit the PDD to force hardware 600 DPI for ProRes 1200 and it produces the same output as 600 DPI (less intensity). All my tests are in monochrome. I rarely prints in colors, but my ImageRET 2400 setting is already in 600 DPI, as I understand it. I dont'k how to force 600 DPI anywhere else but it may be a good idea. [Bug 1476705] Re: postscript printer hideously slow in some cases (pdftops)
Thank you Till to point me this command (and the documentation). It appears that pdftocairo default is 600, but pdftops default is bigger. This seems to be the reason why I gain so much when I swtich to pdftocairo. Now, if I choose pdftops-max-image-resolution-default=300 (with ProRes 1200 option), I have the best intensity/quality output and an acceptable speed. With these settings, pdftops and pdftocairo have much less difference in output file size, even if pdftocairo is still a bit better (gs in between, but slower in reality). May I suggest to revise pdftops-max-image-resolution-default, particulary if pdftops is retained as the default renderer. Even if README file of cups-filters considers pdftocairo as experimental, I will work with this for a while and time will tell. If necessary, I will return to pdftops or maybe try acroread.
