[Bug 1623298] [NEW] File roller cannot rename a file inside a .zip file, also cannot delete files in it
Public bug reported: File Roller 3.16.5, running on Ubuntu 16.4.1 LTS 64-bit When trying to rename a file in a zip-archive, FR shows a message "An error occurred while renaming the files." When trying to delete a file (or group of files): "An error occurred while deleting files from the archive." In both cases, the zip file is unchanged as a result. As a workaround (and also a way to confirm that the zip file itself is not damaged), I use WinZip running on Wine. ** Affects: file-roller (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to file-roller in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1623298 Title: File roller cannot rename a file inside a .zip file, also cannot delete files in it To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/1623298/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1623135] [NEW] Nautilus Search Box Right-Click "shadow" Remains
Public bug reported: Right-Clicking with the mouse pointer within the Nautilus search box intermittently produces an empty shadow of the box (No Text: Cut Copy Paste Delete | Select All). The empty box appears within a minority of the attempts. Once the empty shadowbox appears, it persists MOST of the time, but not always. The remaining box acts as a "dead-zone" for future mouse pointer actions. My impression is that the pop-up process only partially completes, leaving the box waiting for an input that can never happen. Attempts to left click within the empty shadow box--as if the text was merely background color--produce no responses. This bug can be repeated only intermittently, with no identifiable periodicity. If text does populate the box, then it functions correctly and closes. If the text does not appear, then it may or may not close. This behavior is repeatable regardless of mouse pointer placement within the search box: right, left, or middle. Repeated invocations of the bug result in an accumulation of the shadow boxes, positioned relative to the mouse pointer as with normal functioning nautilus window. In other words, moving the pointer across the single line search box allows shadow box placement across the horizontal and moving the Nautilus window up or down allows shadow box placement across the vertical. The Screenshot app can capture the desktop image of the box(es). Rebooting is the only solution that I have found. [Bug 1442105] Re: GPS not working on my BQ Ubuntu Touch
/usr/bin/test_gps is known to segfault and we should totally remove it. For "Why not gpsd?": It does not support assisted GPS in the way we need it, nor does it provide any sort of fusioning of network- and satellite- based positioning ootb. More to this, the NMEA that is reported back here does not report a position either, all the respective entries are marked invalid. Let's focus on the issue at hand. The bug is marked as incomplete as: (1.) we fail to reproduce it reliably (2.) spot something meaningful in the logs that tells us what is going wrong With that, it would be very helpful if you could provide us with the information described in the forensics doc: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlan/location- service#Forensics If you are fine with switching your image to rw, the output of: > sudo apt install ubuntu-location-service-examples > sudo GLOG_v=1000 GLOG_logtostderr=1 /usr/lib/*/ubuntu-location-service/examples/client --bus system would be very helpful. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to location-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1442105 Title: GPS not working on my BQ Ubuntu Touch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1442105/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1622772] Re: gnome-session-properties icons and .desktop file should be moved to gnome-session-bin
My issue is only to keep system clean. There are some components in my system that depend on gnome-session-bin, but not gnome-session-common. And I'm trying to decrease number of manually installed packages to bare minimum. Stuff in gnome-session-common are really tiny and I see no practical benefit in having them separated. Probably, better option might be to add a recommended dependency on gnome-session-common in gnome-session-bin. There is no big technical problems, it just doesn't feel clean enough. Just to mention, for me gnome-session-properties does not feel required in gnome-session-bin either, so perfect solution for me would be to have gnome-session-properties package with everything necessary inside. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1622772 Title: gnome-session-properties icons and .desktop file should be moved to gnome-session-bin To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/1622772/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1442105] Re: GPS not working on my BQ Ubuntu Touch
how this can stll have the incomplete status? the gps is broken, it does not work on bq m10. the test_gps in /usr/bin results in segfaults. this is key feature of mobile (together with sensorsors) to do the cool stuff (not cool is like reading mail, tweeting, facebook, and other stuff calculating 1+1, at the moment ubuntu touch is capable only that), else I dont see what I need for the mobile linux. I see gps outputs the nmea output. why not use the gpsd as middle layer. it also would make possible to use bluetooth gps more advanced/precise receivers.
