[Bug 1768734] Re: Restoring edge tiled windows with client-side decorations shrinks them (Wayland)

2018-05-04 Thread mtvoid
The bug shows up only in a Wayland session. The behaviour is normal
under Xorg. Quite possibly an issue with GTK+, which is improperly
handling the sizing of client-side decorated windows when
tiling/untiling them.

** Summary changed:

- restoring edge tiled windows with client-side decorations shrinks them
+ Restoring edge tiled windows with client-side decorations shrinks them

[Bug 1769260] [NEW] file-roller fails for one usser while tar works

2018-05-04 Thread Guy Andrews
Public bug reported:

file-roller adds user gja directories fine. However, for user lin it
gets well into the adding of files when it fails saying it cannot find a
file in "/home/lin/.config/dconf/user.13FBIZ". I suspect this might be a
temporary file it is building, Every time I try it the error is the same
except the ending after the last dot in the file name changes. This may
be a bug or suggest a flaw in the data it is adding.

The system operates correctly for all users, even the account that is
supposed to be backed up. Also if I look in the specified directory I do
not see the file for which it is looking.

Directly using tar works fine. Tar must use a pipe to connect to a
compressor but does not run into the name problem file-roller does. You
may want to consider this a bug.

[Bug 1768995] Re: The "Unlock" button of user administration asks for wrong user

2018-05-04 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
On 2018-05-04 03:09, Patola wrote:
> Adding to a sudo-enabled group is not enough?

No. Authentication happens through PolicyKit, and PolicyKit does not
know about "procer3d".

$ cat /etc/polkit-1/localauthority.conf.d/51-ubuntu-admin.conf
[Configuration]
AdminIdentities=unix-group:sudo;unix-group:admin

As you can see it does know about the unix group "sudo", and accounts of
the type "Administrator" belong to "sudo". So one way is to do as Jeremy
suggested and change those users accounts to be "Administrator".

Another way is to tell PolicyKit what you want. You can do so by
creating the file /etc/polkit-1/localauthority.conf.d/52-my-admin.conf
and giving it this contents:

[Configuration]
AdminIdentities=unix-group:sudo;unix-group:admin;unix-group:procer3d

You can read more about it in "man pklocalauthority".

[Bug 1769224] [NEW] keyboard layout on greeter is not stored per user (function lost from 16.04 to 18.04)

2018-05-04 Thread Bodinux
Public bug reported:

We are using two keyboard layouts in my family (dvorak-like and
standard).

With 16.04, upon selection of user on the greeter, the keyboard layout
would default to the one of the user.

With 18.04 fresh install, the above is lost. Instead, the last selected
keyboard layout remains selected. Therefore it is necessary to check and
maybe change the layout to be able to set the password.

2018-05-04 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Re: [Bug 1767817] Re: Full text search does not work

2018-05-04 Thread Balazs Pere
I think nautilus 3.26 should do full text search. If not, there are two
possibilities
Remove the option from the search menu.

Implement/fix the full text search capability.

[Bug 1687246] Re: GNOME Shell should support fractional (non-integer) Hi-DPI scaling

2018-05-04 Thread Rob Parker
Another consideration are users with Nvidia graphics.

>From what I understand, GNOME Shell's fractional scaling support only
works with Wayland.

But Nvidia's proprietary driver doesn't yet support Wayland. Some may
argue the fault for that situation lies with Nvidia.

But this is nonetheless a regression from Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, where the
default desktop (Unity 7) has fractional scaling support which works
with Nvidia's proprietary driver.

All that said, even for users without Nvidia graphics, I suppose the
regression (of loosing fractional scaling support) also exists given
that Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, for understandable reasons, has gone back to
X.org by default.

Personally I'll probably be sticking with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS for the
foreseeable future, due to this.

[Bug 1661590] Re: GNOME Software only supports running one application from a snap

2018-05-04 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Simos, GNOME Software keeps running in the background. After updating
GNOME Software on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, you either need to log out and log
back in or run a command like:

pkill gnome-software

On Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, GNOME Software should recognize that it has been
updated and it will prompt you to restart the app so the above
workaround isn't needed.

[Bug 1769116] [NEW] Gnome shell error in logs discreteGpuAvailable

2018-05-04 Thread Jan
Public bug reported:

gnome-shell[1938]: Some code accessed the property
'discreteGpuAvailable' on the module 'appDisplay'. That property was
defined with 'let' or 'const' inside the module. This was previously
supported, but is not correct according to the ES6 standard. Any symbols
to be exported from a module must be defined with 'var'. The property
access will work as previously for the time being, but please fix your
code anyway.

[Bug 1609874]

2018-05-04 Thread Fedora
This message is a reminder that Fedora 26 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 26. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '26'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 26 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.
