[Bug 1844601] Re: right clicking on background - menu appears often well away from pointer

2019-09-18 Thread Chris Guiver
I just logged out of my primary desktop (dell [optiplex] 960 (c2q-q9400,
8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350) of my LXQt desktop
changed to login via GNOME/Ubuntu

On the installed & updated GNOME 19.10 system i get the same action when
I right-click the background. If I move pointer to middle of top-
display and right-click, the menu opens bottom-left quarter of lower
display?? not where I'm looking or expect the menu to appear.

I'll change this to confirmed - it's occurred on 3 boxes; 2 boxes using
daily ISO & an installed system on third box. All three have two
displays, and unusual display setups (this d780 has almost identical
display setup to 8200; using two displays just to right of 8200's
displays). I can test on another box but suspect issue will be same

[Bug 1844601] Re: right clicking on background - menu appears often well away from pointer

2019-09-18 Thread Chris Guiver
** Description changed:

In the attached picture - My mouse-pointer was on my 'top' display above
positioned above 'videos' window (which has Little.Sisters MP3 on it),
but menu appears on bottom display below terminal.

+ QA-test on hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600)

  -- Expected behavior
I can click the background on my screens, and I expect the menu to appear
very close to where my pointer is

  -- Actual behavior
As I write this, if I move the mouse-pointer to the right of this firefox
window & right-click background, the menu appears to nearer the left of this
firefox window? If I move pointer to left of this firefox window, it appears
in the same position as it did when to the right; in neither occasion is it
near my pointer & thus is not readily visible as the menu color is very similar
to the firefox background that sort of hides it.

It maybe because I've adjusted my displays since I started this QA-test
to match my setup, but in this lab-like setup my displays are vertically
  placed (one above the other)

[Bug 1834967] Re: Activities overview doesn't fit the whole window in when shrinking

2019-09-18 Thread Carlos Pita
Do you think the importance of this problem is just low? It affects a
very central part of the desktop in a way that is not only ugly but also
hinders usability. Hopefully it's not an upstream issue and will be
auto-magically fixed by an update.

adjust displays to match my setup, could not re-create
http://launchpad.net/bugs/1844601 but was unable using the setup that matches
my display. I then adjust my portrait-right titled display so it was below
other display, then above - and could not re-create the bug ...
..
i walked to this room to report findings (this my primary desktop is in another
room), when I got back to d780 machine had locked display, on resume
http://launchpad.net/bugs/1844601 was an issue on clicking background. I was
doing the exact same things I did before - but now the menu was appearing
elsewhere on same display or more commonly elsewhere on the wrong display!!!
Same predictable type pattern as it did on other box...

[Bug 1844594] [NEW] rhythmbox crashed with ImportError: could not import gobject (version mismatch, 3.34.0 is required, found 3.33.1)

2019-09-18 Thread Chris Guiver
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 19.10 daily test (QA 'live')

I was opening random apps; one of which was rhythmbox - which after
closing a crash window appeared. I clicked send and it closed (nothing
further).

On examination there was a .crash in /var/crash/ so I `ubuntu-bug`'d
that report. Thus this.

I wanted to add files from the partition I'd mounted earlier in `files`
(nautilus), however I couldn't find it in rhythmbox window (not my usual
music player) so I just closed app. It was after this that I had the
error pop-up; so really I'd done nothing except try and navigate to my
mounted hdd within rhythmbox only.

[Bug 1844575] [NEW] Pixelated fonts sometimes

2019-09-18 Thread Joe Barnett
Public bug reported:

Running under wayland, with fractional scaling enabled and set to 175%
on laptop screen, 100% on external screen, sometimes windows like
nautilus or the file chooser get pixelated fonts (see screenshot). Seen
this mostly on the 100% external screen, and it goes away if maximizing
the window or moving the window back and forth between screens a few
times.

But user "autotest" has set password, I'm able to login to him over SSH

Any idea/workaround?

[Bug 1834967] Re: Activities overview doesn't fit the whole window in when shrinking

2019-09-18 Thread Carlos Pita
I don't think the title of this report is accurate. The is no
"shrinking" involved. The bottom window previews in the overview are
just clipped out of the screen, not shrinked.

[Bug 1844354] Re: Starting indicator-multiload (with peculiar config) crashes gnome-shell

2019-09-18 Thread max ulidtko
Daniel, yes, this is the same crash as in bug 1787512.

It's not a duplicate IMO, since I'd researched the exact repro steps.
Any developer can trigger the crash now, by following the repro steps.

That's why I didn't use ubuntu-bug either; just follow the repro steps
and trigger the crash yourself, rather than blankly staring at my
recording of it.

[Bug 1843899] Re: gnome-shell calendar widget is not centered on the screen

2019-09-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I don't think "the alternative" need be singular. We could also shift
the wallpaper itself as part of the scaling to fit the screen. I was the
last person to touch that code and doing it that way would avoid
compromising any of the work we've already done for shifting the clock.

That said, I agree it's not a priority.

[Bug 1844508] [NEW] date on lock screen displayed in cyrillic

2019-09-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

On a freshly installed Ubuntu 19.04 (I picked English as my language, Polish
for the keyboard and Moscow as a time zone) when the lock screen shows, the
date is shown in Cyrillic.
I didn't notice anything else in this alphabet - everything seems to be shown
in English as I expect, and I can use Polish keyboard without a problem.

I'm sorry I don't attache package name, I have serious problems
identifying it.

[Bug 1841130] Re: idle, idle-python is missing from Apps Store

2019-09-18 Thread SunBear
@Matthias. In Ubuntu18.04, after pressing the "Super" key on the
keyboard and typing "idle" in the search box, a python icon does appear.
Also, after selecting it and python-idle does appear, in the dash-to-
dock a different icon is used to represent python-idle. So there are
available and suitable icons that can be used to represent python-idle.

Since there are available icons for representing python-idle, can you
tell me what must I do to point to these icons? Thanks.

I don't recall having this issue in Ubuntu 16.04.

The behaviour has changed recently. When the freeze occurs, whatever we
type goes to the dash search. It is visible only when we click the 3x3
icon and visualize the dash search panel. Earlier, whatever we type was
disappears altogether. ie, when the freeze occurs and I continue to
type, it is nowhere to be seen. But when we take dash search panel to
unfreeze it, we can see what we typed after the freeze in the search
box. Hope I explained properly.
