[Bug 1982667] Re: Icons desktop disappear

2022-07-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The above link can't be accessed. Please try renaming the file.

Please also try disabling fractional scaling in Settings and then log in
again. Do the icons work after that?

[Bug 1982611] Re: GNOME Desktop Clashes when I close PiP of Firefox's

2022-07-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

OK, next time a freeze happens please:

1. Wait 10 seconds.

2. Reboot.

3. Run:

   journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

4. Attach the resulting text file here.

[Bug 1980831] Re: GUI freezes randomly, mouse still moving, nothing else works

2022-07-25 Thread Alexandru Bolboaca
Removed all extensions, as instructed, and rebooted. Will monitor for
more freezes.

Step 2 in comment #2:

Looked at recent reports, and the most recent is a crash in color-picker
on 11 July (two weeks ago):
https://errors.ubuntu.com/oops/259cc932-011b-11ed-a45f-fa163e55efd0.

I've had other crashes in: pysolfc, nautilus, terminator, tracker-mine-
fs, and obs-studio before this.

When the system freezes I'm not running color-picker, pysolfc or obs-
studio. Never had a freeze while running terminator either. It usually
happens in the browser (firefox or chrome), but that may be just because
I always have a browser open. Also happened in zoom once or twice.

[Bug 1980831] Re: GUI freezes randomly, mouse still moving, nothing else works

2022-07-25 Thread Alexandru Bolboaca
It froze again today, two times. It happened while working in Firefox on
the NVIDIA card.

I then disabled the GNOME extensions I had installed and it still froze
once (until now).

Still nothing in /var/crash.

I'm at a loss now, I don't know what else to try.

[Bug 1970291] Re: [nvidia] Secondary monitor performance is slow on an Nvidia hybrid system in Wayland sessions

2022-07-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
That's not really related to this bug. But yes, some apps incorrectly
prefer X11 over Wayland when both protocols are available. That's a bug
in the app (or sometimes intentional), so please talk to the app
developers.

[Bug 1970291] Re: [nvidia] Secondary monitor performance is slow on an Nvidia hybrid system in Wayland sessions

2022-07-25 Thread ELMX
Hi,

I would to share my case

I think is a environment variable we know DISPLAY and some xorg.conf
tweaks (edid, modevalidation maybe)

under wayland i echo display like this:

echo $DISPLAY

it returns :1

Ihave built-in and an external monitor

echo $WAYLAND_DISPLAY ; returns
wayland-0

and

when i unset DISPLAY, under wayland games performance is better and less
glitches ...

XWAYLAND_NO_GLAMOR=1 appears working right now

Any idea??

[Bug 1982658] Re: 22.04 Input devices freeze when dock connects with monitor

2022-07-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

Firstly, in case this is bug 1976204, please ensure you have
gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng
version 43-2ubuntu1 or later. Disabling the Desktop Icons NG extension is also
a workaround.

If the problem still occurs after that then it might also be bug
1970495.

To help us debug the issue, please collect a log from when it happened.
If it happened in the current boot then run:

  journalctl -b0 > journal.txt

If it happened in the previous boot then run:

  journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

and attach the resulting text file here, also noting the date and time
the bug occurred at.

I made a few a clean install of Ubuntu 22.04 and every thing worked

disappear. And then, even after a reboot, they don't come back.
