[Bug 1857392] Re: Window manager warning: Overwriting existing binding of keysym...

2024-05-23 Thread Marcos Alano
I get this messages and system freezes and I need to restart.
Ubuntu 24.04
Dell G15 5511
GNOME 46.0 + x11
I know the crashes shouldn't be related, but in some way they are because so
many people reported. I kept the kernelooops running to check if I can get
anything.

[Bug 2066988] [NEW] Power setting in settings unrelated to actual power settings

2024-05-23 Thread Douglas Balish
Public bug reported:

Not sure if this is exactly the package that is experiencing/causing the
issue or if the root is elsewhere, but this is the most obvious break to
me in a long list of things that seem to be wrong with power management
in 22.04 LTS. I could not find similar bugs via google or the
suggestions, but I am hoping someone else may be able to link this to a
similar one if it exists.

On multiple machines (one thinkpad laptop, one custom built desktop)
running 22.04 with AMD processors, I notice odd behavior where what is
selected in settings under 'Power Settings' does not seem to change
anything, and at least does not match what is reported by `cat
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor`. From some
limited sysbench testing, it seems the only real way to set this is
echoing the desired profile into that location, but it seems to randomly
switch back on occasion and always on reboot to powersave (settings
still show performance mode when this happens).

Reproduction:
- From fresh boot with default power settings, check current scaling with `cat
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor` and compare with what is
shown in the power settings of the settings GUI
- Change the setting in the GUI
- Compare again, and note that they do not match

I will include some other basic details, and I would be happy to assist
in any troubleshooting or data collection needed to get power management
into a better state for Ubuntu.

CPUs affected:
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16-Core (desktop)
AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 6850H (thinkpad P15v gen3, with latest BIOS update v1.20)

[Bug 2046844] Re: AppArmor user namespace creation restrictions cause many applications to crash with SIGTRAP

2024-05-23 Thread Marcos Alano
I'm having a similar problem, but I don't know if it's related: I'm using
Ubuntu 24.04, Firefox from Mozilla PPA (so no Snap), and I get this error in
the journalctl -b:
mai 23 15:39:24 glados firefox.desktop[8963]: [Parent 8963, IPC I/O Parent]
WARNING: process 47676 is a zombie: file
/builds/worker/checkouts/gecko/ipc/chromium/src/base/process_util_posix.cc:245
It freezes all my session, not just the Firefox, and I need to long press the
power button to turn off the machine.

[Bug 2066931] [NEW] gdm login screen in noble does not display on wayland

would call it an implementation oversight.

[Bug 2066902] [NEW] Night Light occasionally gets stuck

2024-05-23 Thread Kevin Keijzer
Public bug reported:

Since installing Ubuntu 24.04, every now and then Night Light gets stuck
when my screen is locked at night and I unlock it in the morning. The
screen is then very orange (more so than normally is the case with Night
Light), and disabling it with the button in in the top bar menu does
nothing.

The only ways to restore the screen to normal are disabling and enabling
the colour profile or running `gdbus call -e -o
/org/gnome/SettingsDaemon/Color -d org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.Color -m
org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.Color.NightLightPreview 1`

I have never been able to find anything remotely relevant in any system
logs regarding this issue. It also does not happen every day, but
probably once every seven to ten days or so.

My PC has an AMD RX550 GPU using the amdgpu driver. I'm not sure if it
makes a difference, but so far I've not seen this problem on my other
machines with Intel IGPs.

[Bug 2066893] [NEW] Активируется неверное фоновое приложение при нажатии на активное

2024-05-23 Thread 3DRaven
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure I chose the right package for the bug. In some
applications, if you click on the application window at the bottom of
the window or on a button at the bottom of the window, instead of
reacting to this action, the application that is located under the one
you clicked on pops up. It seems the window is drawn on the screen but
is transparent to the mouse. This is observed in a variety of
applications, for example in dbeaver.

[Bug 2066891] [NEW] snap eog cannot access all images on the filesystem

2024-05-23 Thread Siegfried
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 24.04: removing deb-eog (sudo apt remove eog) and installing
snap-eog (sudo snap install eog)

eog then fails to open local files, for example
# eog ~/.local/share/icons/hicolor/256x256/apps/firefox.png
produces the attached screenshot with "Failed to open input stream for file".
The file exists and can be opened with deb-eog.

To my knowledge, may be solved if you add the personal-files interface
to the snap.

But I think that would not solve all the problems, because
# eog /usr/share/icons/hicolor/256x256/apps/firefox.png
would still result in the same error.

Please make the snap eog able to access all local files. It's just not a
viable replacement for the deb eog otherwise.

** Affects: eog (Ubuntu)

Public bug reported:

When you launch an application (as example firefox) using a pinned icon,
a new icon is created at the bottom of the panel, and instead of a
picture with this application, a gear icon is shown. Launching new

[Bug 2064192] Re: Unable to resize windows

2024-05-23 Thread Enorize
I also encountered the same issue. The affected software from the
official software sources includes GParted and Software & Updates
(Software Updater). Third-party software includes Zotero, Electron-based
software such as Typora, etc.

I also noticed other issues that might be related to this:

1. The affected software does not have shadows on the window edges.
2. When there are other normal windows in the workspace, clicking on certain
areas of the affected software causes it to minimize or invisible.

Steps to reproduce these issues:
1. Open Chrome and make it full screen
2. Open Software & Updates, there is no shadow on the window edges
2. And click near the edge(for example, click on the blank area to the left of
the 'Close' button. ), and the Software & Updates window becomes invisible or
under the chrome window.

env:
official ubuntu 24.04
X11
RTX 4070TI SUPER and official Proprietary driver
use autologin too

[Bug 2066860] [NEW] Oracular: Glib 2.80.1 breaks IBus support: unable to type ~`àéè... chars

2024-05-23 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Public bug reported:

Note: a new version is coming: I'm creating this bug report mainly to
help others identifying the issues.

With Glib 2.80.1, I'm no longer able to type special characters like
~`àéè, etc.

The bug has already been fixed upstream:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/-/issues/3353
It is part of the 2.80.2: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/-/releases/2.80.2
2.80.2 is in the proposed repo: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0

This bug is particularly annoying if you have such special characters in
your password, it affects all apps using Glib 2.80.1. So the apps
installed from Snap are not affected as they are using an older version
of Glib.

Workaround:

  sudo apt install libglib2.0-bin=2.80.0-6ubuntu1
gir1.2-glib-2.0=2.80.0-6ubuntu1 libglib2.0-data=2.80.0-6ubuntu1
libglib2.0-0t64=2.80.0-6ubuntu1 gir1.2-glib-2.0-dev=2.80.0-6ubuntu1
libglib2.0-dev=2.80.0-6ubuntu1 libgirepository-2.0-0=2.80.0-6ubuntu1
libglib2.0-dev-bin=2.80.0-6ubuntu1

(or install the packages from "proposed")

** Affects: glib2.0 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Fix Committed

** Changed in: glib2.0 (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Fix Committed
