[Bug 1825544] Re: Switch User menu item gone after upgrade to Ubuntu 19.04

2019-06-05 Thread Amit Schreiber
I have the same issue. On my machine I have 2 accounts: and admin
account and a regular user account. For the admin - the "Switch User"
option never appears. For the regular user - the option appears
sometimes (can't figure out what the circumstances that cause it to
appear are)

Please fix this. The Ctrl+Alt+fX workaround for this is not great.

[Bug 1784473] Re: [radeon] Ubuntu boots to a black screen

2018-07-31 Thread Amit Dube
After installing upstream kernel the issue is solved though boot time is long.
I get this screen(https://ibb.co/isQYTz) after selecting the kernel from grub,
not an issue to me but thought to inform you.
Also can I remove the kernel because had remove virtualbox

** Description changed:

After a fresh install of ubuntu 18.04LTS(dual booted with windows 7)
when I selected ubuntu from the grub menu to boot into the OS. But I got
a black screen I waited for few seconds but I was still at black screen.
So, I forced shutdown the laptop. Again in second attempt to login I got
black screen this time I waited for more than a minute and pressed power
button once which suspended the pc then I pressed enter and I was
presented with login screen. To solve the problem I followed this guide
  https://askubuntu.com/questions/1029624/ubuntu-18-04-live-boot-leads-to-
  blank-screen

and changed quiet splash to nomodeset quiet splash. After applying this fix
there was no black screen at the time of login, but the laptop started to
freeze randomly even when left idle for more than 30 mins it would freeze. I
had force shutdown each time and this happened very frequently.
I again changed nomodeset quiet splash to quiet splash, which again leads to
black screen after selecting ubuntu from the grub menu. I also did RAM test
using Memtest86 from GRUB and everything was fine

  systemd-analyze time
  Startup finished in 6.015s (kernel) + 1min 26.820s (userspace) = 1min 32.836s
  graphical.target reached after 1min 25.472s in userspace

[Bug 1784473] Re: [radeon] Ubuntu boots to a black screen

2018-07-30 Thread Amit Dube
apport information

[Bug 1314556] Re: Unable to mount Android MTP device

2014-11-16 Thread Amit Kshirsagar
I am unable to mount Nexus5 and Samsung Galaxy 2 on Ubuntu 14.04
I was able to do file operations without any issues in prior versions.

Following is the output that I got when tried for mtp-detect.
-
xanthus@xanthus-Inspiron-6000:/etc$ mtp-detect
Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.libmtp version: 1.1.6

Listing raw device(s)
   No raw devices found.
-

All other usb devices, like 8gb usb stick, 1TB WD External HD is getting
mounted and I can perform the normal file operations.

Not sure how long this problem is going to last.

[Bug 830388] [NEW] Apply button remains disabled after changes in empathy chat accounts window if account is disabled

2011-08-20 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Public bug reported:

What ever configuration changes I make in a disabled account can not be saved
(apply button is not enabled).
Here are the steps to reproduce.
- Bring up the empathy chat accounts window
- Click on existing configured account that is disabled (from left hand side
pane)
- In the right hand side window, make some changes like remove the remembered
password or change the user name

Expected result
- Apply button should be enabled to save the configuration changes (these
should be applied when next time I try to login to the chat server)

Actual result:
- Notice that the Apply and Cancel buttons remain disabled even after doing the
changes
Note that I do not want to connect to an account first and then remove the
remembered password and then disconnect it again.

2009-06-08 Thread Amit Kucheria
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

I've added the charpick_applet to my panel and added a new character set
(öä) from the preferences menu.

After a few boots, the applet reverts to the first character set in the
list (áàéíñó½©ث€) and switching to any other character set stops
working. The applet is 'locked' to this character set.

[Bug 380404] [NEW] Totem crashes when trying to play video complaining about sha module

2009-05-25 Thread Amit Kucheria

The program 'totem' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 82 error_code 11 request_code 132 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

I tried playing the same file again with vlc and got the following
error:

[Bug 229466] Re: When suspended in battery mode and resumed in A/C power mode, the laptop display brightness is low

2009-05-13 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Unfortunately I had to shift to Windows on my company laptop. So there
is no way I can verify this at the moment. I upgraded my desktop on line
to Jaunty so don't have the latest livecd to check with the laptop. I
believe this should not be hardware specific. So somebody with Ubuntu on
laptop should post a comment here.

[Bug 350172] Re: wrong file name after restoring from trash

2009-03-28 Thread Amit Jain
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: nautilus

  To reproduce:

  * Create two directories - "dir1" and "dir2";
  * In each directory, create a file the same name (ex. "foo.bar")

The directory structure should look like
  dir1/foo.bar
  dir2/foo.bar

  * Move both files to the trash
Now the trash contains two files with the same name.

  * Restore each file from the trash using "Edit->Restore"

  Result:

The name of one of the files is "foo.2.bar", so it looks like
  dir1/foo.bar
  dir2/foo.2.bar

caused you to encounter the problem, so that we can reproduce it on our
end.

Thanks!

I can reproduce this issue on UL 8.10 + latest updates on a Dell Laptop
with Dell BT365(). I get the "Obex Push file transfer unsupported"

the Desktop--> Send To-->Send as:Bluetooth (OBEX Push)-->Send

When I try to send the file using the alternate GUI route which is:
Right Click Bluetooth icon-->Send files to device-->-->Select

Eror Occurred->org.openobex.Error.ConnectionAttemptFailed

[Bug 108928] Re: Scrambled Keys in feisty ubuntu desktop

2008-04-28 Thread Amit Gurdasani
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 112955 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112955

I've also encountered this issue. My solution was to capture the xmodmap
-pke output as ${HOME}/.Xmodmap at the login screen (DISPLAY=:0
XAUTHORITY=/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xauth sudo xmodmap -pke > ${HOME}/.Xmodmap).
When gnome-settings-daemon starts up and finds an .Xmodmap, it asks if
it should be loaded -- I answer yes. As a side effect, if gnome-
settings-daemon were to be restarted without the .Xmodmap, it'd scramble
the keyboard layout again. With an .Xmodmap in place, it'll load the
.Xmodmap every time.

Due to another issue (#199245, gnome-settings-daemon crashing with
BadWindow every time a window is mapped), I disabled the keyboard plugin
using gconf-editor, at /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/plugins/keyboard.
Since it's not being loaded, I suspect it might not garble the layout
even if I remove the .Xmodmap now.

So maybe disabling the keyboard plugin is a better fix.

So maybe disabling the keyboard plugin is a better fix.

[Bug 199245] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crash opening any window: "BadWindow" X error under Xvnc

2008-04-28 Thread Amit Gurdasani
Oh yes, and as more than one person has noted, VNC performance is
incredibly poor on hardy. In fact, in my case, it's so poor that gnome-
settings-daemon takes long enough to start up that the first thing to
appear is a grey blank window that later (in a minute or so) paints to
reveal an error that gnome-settings-daemon failed to start (or, more
likely, just timed out, since it's running when the desktop appears and
killing it to force it to restart gets it working again). It takes that
long for the GNOME panels and the background image to appear and for the
desktop to become responsive.

[Bug 199245] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crash opening any window: "BadWindow" X error under Xvnc

2008-04-28 Thread Amit Gurdasani
I confirm that I'm seeing the exact same issues (Xtightvnc causing
gnome-settings-daemon to keep crashing with BadWindow on new windows
being mapped, and being restarted) with the same fix (disabling the
keyboard plugin for gnome-settings-daemon), in addition to the other
issue with TightVNC (keyboard layout issues, #108928). I'm running hardy
using coLinux and have Xtightvnc started by gdm as its standard X
server.

[Bug 157317] Re: Evolution freezes (for half a minute) in regular intervals if one of the mail/news servers are not accessible over the network

2008-02-12 Thread Amit Tendulkar
Okay here is the information. Though I didn't get a back trace as the
program didn't crash.

This is a long file as I kept running evolution in the office for the
entire day... (so I am zipping it using gzip)

Let me know if you need anything else.
