[Bug 1276443] Re: Please merge poppler 0.24.5-2 from Debian experimental

2014-02-05 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
** Patch added: ubuntu-ubuntu.debdiff

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/poppler/+bug/1276443/+attachment/3969689/+files/ubuntu-ubuntu.debdiff

** Description changed:

Debian recently uploaded new Poppler with Qt 5 support and merged some
our changes. Also, Qt 5 support there is done more properly, i.e.
qt4-visiblity.diff was extended to Qt 5, and the symbols file was added.
Thus I have prepared yet another merge.

This also greatly reduces our delta, and will make next merges easier.
+
+ Upd: reuploaded debdiffs with correct changelogs merging.

OK, you convinced me and I will add it back in the next upload. I will
also investigate the nm-applet issue.

Re pidgin, I think it uses Messaging Menu out of the box, doesn't it?
Also searching the web shows me this: http://www.webupd8.org/2014/01

[Bug 1263591] Re: Add notification-area to panel-default-layout.layout

2014-01-23 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
Thanks for your bug report, unfortunately Notification Area is
deprecated and all Ubuntu apps are being ported to use application
indicators. Both Unity and GNOME Shell are also getting rid of
Notification Area.

NM-applet should work out of the box as it has nm-applet-use-
indicator.patch when built on Ubuntu. There is a third-party indicator
available for Pidgin, as well.

So if you really want to use Notification Area, you'll have to add it
manually.

[Bug 1256627] [NEW] New upstream release, merge with Debian

2013-12-01 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
Public bug reported:

poppler (0.24.4-0ubuntu1) trusty; urgency=low

  * Merge with Debian experimental (LP: #1256627), remaining changes:
- Drop libopenjpeg-dev build depends, it's in universe.
- Lower poppler-data to Suggests, it is too big for CD images,
  handled by language-selector.
- Have libpoppler-dev Depend on libpoppler-private-dev, to help with
the transition after the split of the two packages.
- Build Qt 5 packages.
- Add simple compile/link/run autopkgtest.
- Differences in symbols file.
  * New upstream bugfix release.
  * Add libpoppler-glib-doc Breaks/Replaces on libpoppler-glib-dev
(= 0.24.4).
  * Update debian/copyright (taken from unreleased Debian Git).

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-11-13 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
William: I understand that the goal is to move key grabbing out of g-s-d
to Compiz/Unity, but you should not do this as a stable release update,
as it completely breaks things for users of custom GNOME sessions (such
as GNOME Flashback).

[Bug 1181344] Re: python-keyring timeout on import if started with sudo

2013-11-09 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
As mentioned in the bug description, this bug occures even when using
D-Bus directly, without SecretStorage or python-keyring.

So this most probably indicates a bug in your Secret Service server,
which is probably gnome-keyring.

Can you please:

1) Check if the file /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.freedesktop.secrets.service
exists and paste its contents somewhere?
2) Install seahorse and check if it works (i.e. you can see a list of your

[Bug 1247618] [NEW] Please upload evolution 3.8.5-2ubuntu1 (merge with Debian)

2013-11-03 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
Public bug reported:

* Merge from Debian unstable, remaining changes:
  - debian/patches/04_delay_alarm_notifier.patch: delay alarm-notifier by
30 seconds.
  - debian/patches/10_desktop_shortcuts.patch: Add Unity quicklist shortcuts
  - debian/patches/20_skip_broken_gconf_conversions.patch: Don't install the
window size gconf conversions. Besides not being very useful, they are
broken and cause gnome-settings-daemon to fail to start
  - debian/patches/09_add_ubuntuone_email.patch,
debian/patches/91_add_u1_email_translations.patch:
Add an email about Ubuntu One.
  - debian/patches/alarm-notify-nodisplay.patch: don't show the alarm
notifier in gnome-session-properties (add NoDisplay=true to the .desktop
file).
  - debian/evolution-common.gsettings-override: Set 'notify-with-tray' to
false to not use the notification area for calendar reminders.
  - debian/rules, debian/control: Disable bogofilter and texthighlight
support, since these packages are in universe. Swap evolution
alternative Recommends to prefer spamassassin.

This will also fix the current evolution-ews build failure.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-11-01 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
** Description changed:

A PPA which should provide some relief for this issue is available at
  https://launchpad.net/~attente/+archive/1218322. There still remain
issues regarding keyboard shortcuts though. To install:

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:attente/1218322
  sudo apt-get update
  sudo apt-get upgrade

  === gnome-control-center ===

Impact: the UI to change the layout switching keys doesn't work

  Test case:
  - open gnome-control-center's text input settings
  - click on the next layout key entry
  - try entering a key combinaison (e.g ctrl-space)
  - the UI should reflect the new keys

Regression potential: that UI was not working before, it should only be
an improvement (some key combos are not working as expected, that's
another issue and shouldn't be mixed with this one)

  === gnome-settings-daemon ===

Impact: attempting to change keyboard layouts using only modifier keys
  doesn't work

  Test case:
  - add at least two input sources through gnome-control-center's text entry
settings
  - use gsettings to set the input switching shortcut to ctrl+left shift:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings switch-input-source
['PrimaryShift_L']
  - press and release ctrl+left shift
  - the current input source should change

Regression potential: The input switching shortcut might capture other
non-modifier shortcuts, but users will need to consider this when
choosing their switching shortcut anyways. For users this bug affects,
this represents a working solution for a critical bug.

[Bug 1111397] Re: Executable files do not launch in 13.04

2013-11-01 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
This was an intentional change done by upstream Nautilus developers.
Showing a dialog by default makes problems for users that have external
drives with FAT32-like filesystem, where all files are executable. See:

https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=72d6c7ce7febd573
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=601736

Like Borivoje said, it is easily configurable from the Preferences
dialog.

[Bug 1235625] Re: fix legacy keygrabber for gnome-ish sessions

2013-10-06 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
Thanks Tim for fixing it, I can confirm that shortcuts now work fine in
GNOME Flashback session.

William has filed a MP against gnome-settings-daemon (lp:~attente/gnome-
settings-daemon/non-latin-media-keys), that touches the same file (gsd-
media-keys-manager.c), your changes don't conflict so I think it will
make sense to upload both at the same time.

Re: [Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10

2013-10-06 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
@Filippos: layout switching not working is a different issue, tracked in
bug 1218322. I hope William will look at it soon.
On Oct 6, 2013 6:00 PM, Filippos Kolyvas 1226...@bugs.launchpad.net
wrote:

Thanks Dmitry, i added the ppa, upgraded, rebooted and here are the
 results:

After upgrading, i cannot change layout using the shortcut, change is
only possible with the mouse, so every layout change on following test
is made using the mouse on the keyboard indicator:

Gedit (gtk core app): Hotkeys (copy, paste, print) are working on Greek
 layout.
Kate (KDE app): Hotkeys are not working on Greek layout.
LibreOffice: Hotkeys are not working on Greek layout.
Mozilla Firefox: Hotkeys are not working on Greek layout.
Chromium Browser - Google Chrome: Hotkeys are working on Greek layout.
Global shortcuts are probably working, for example ctrl+alt+T
(gnome-terminal) shortcut works, super key +S works too (i haven't tested
 more shortcuts).

Hope that it's going to help.

 Bug description:
New keyboard layout changer in Ubuntu 13.10 introduce old-new bug. Any
system or application hotkey witch use char (for example: ctrl+alt+t for
terminal or ctrl+t for new tab in browser) become unfunctional when
 selected non-latin keyboard layout.
Hotkeys with F1-12, numbers and other non-character buttons works
 perfectly.

Window manager hotkeys not affected by this bug. All hotkeys in system
parameters-keyboard-hotkeys-windows works perfect with any keyboard
   layout.

Workaround for some system hotkeys and two layouts (english and non-
latin): rebind all hotkeys in your local layout. For example instead
of ctrl+alt+t use ctrl+alt+τ (greek tau). That hotkey still work with
english layout. If you use english and two different non-latin
layouts this workaround helps only with one of them.

All bugs mentioned here are affecting only Compiz session. If you use
Metacity (aka no effects) session, everything works well.

The GNOME Panel is mostly unmaintained upstream, though there is a group
of enthusiasts willing to support it. See

Looks like all packages build fine:

- okular and inkscape had unrelated failures, fix branches are linked to this
bug;
- libreoffice compiles fine, but has some test failures, looks unrelated to
poppler, will leave that to Sweetshark.

Seb, will you sponsor the transition? Three branches are linked, for
other packages only a changelog entry is needed (can do branches if you
want).

I've uploaded poppler 0.22.3 and some rdepends to ppa:mitya57/gnome-
test, let's see how it goes (there is indeed a ~ubuntu-rebuilds team,
but I'm not yet member of it). Not uploaded libreoffice, texlive and
inkscape yet.

[Bug 1163674] Re: Adding a printer crashes Gnome Control Center (System Settings)

2013-04-15 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
Adding system-config-printer-gnome is not a proper solution because:

- System-config-printer-gnome pulls in a lot of deprecated (and unmaintained)
libraries like pygtk or python-gnomekeyring;
- Having it installed will just hide the crash, not fix it.

The control center should work fine without s-c-p installed (this is how
upstream works really). It would be good if someone who can reproduce
this bug generated a stack trace and reported a bug upstream.

The service is in -common actually:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/raring/all/system-config-printer-

Also, if g-c-c really depends on that service, maybe we should add a
dependency to g-c-c, not to the metapackage?

[Bug 958007] Re: First switching of the keyboard layout doesn't update the layout indicator

2013-04-02 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
As I can see from the blueprint

the keyboard layout indicator will not be rewritten “to be a proper
indicator” within the Raring cycle.

Keyboard indicator is being written:
https://code.launchpad.net/~attente/+junk/indicator-keyboard. It won't
be in raring, but hopefully there will be a PPA.

2013-02-25 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
This is not specific to Totem - the same issue was seen with early
Nautilus 3.5.x versions in Quantal, for example.

** Package changed: appmenu-gtk (Ubuntu) = indicator-appmenu (Ubuntu)

Re: [Bug 923292] Re: shortcut for closing power statistics app not working

2013-02-18 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
Yes, please do. A patch against the latest gnome-power-manager git
should work. (Forwarding patches upstream lets us save hours of
maintenance work).

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:

 Bug description:
Different app but the same type of problem as in #900753. Power
statiscits app does not close after ctrl+q (and/or ctrl+w) is hit.
Very common shortcut so it'd probably be handled also by Power
   Statistics app.
