I can confirm this bug. Simply run 'gksu nautilus' and select Trash from
the sidebar is enough to trigger this memory behaviour.

[Bug 201406] [NEW] Totem-mozilla always overrides VLC plugin in Firefox

2008-03-12 Thread F-3582
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

It seems that totem-mozilla (2.22.0-0ubuntu1) can now identify as the
vlc plugin for Firefox. Which is nice if you don't want to install that
VLC plugin separately.

However, if you do want to use the VLC plugin for content that request
it (e.g. http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/content/9602?inPopup=true) Totem
will always override it, even if it is installed.

There should be some routine checking for the presence of that VLC
plugin (might also affect the Realplayer plugin, because Totem handles
that, as well) and disabling its VLC-emulating capabilities, if a native
VLC plugin is found. Because if it's there, there has to be a reason for
it...

[Bug 195473] Re: Rhythmbox launches (and relaunches) all by itself on weird occasions

2008-02-25 Thread F-3582
Hmm... okay. So you couldn't reproduce it, then. Too bad...

I was curious, because some other people reported a similar thing in the
Ubuntu Forums which involved plugging in a certain type of USB disk
which caused Rhythmbox to launch over and over again until you removed
Rhythmbox entirely.

[Bug 195473] [NEW] Rhythmbox launches (and relaunches) all by itself on weird occasions

2008-02-25 Thread F-3582
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

First of all, I use Hardy which includes Rhythmbox version
0.11.4-0ubuntu6 at the time I am writing this.

The problem is this:

Something seems to be listening to DBus or something and invoking
Rhythmbox every time the name Rhythmbox appears on it. That's my theory.
The easiest way to reproduce this behaviour is creating a file called
"rhythmbox.txt" and opening it with Gedit. This will cause Rhythmbox to
launch and relaunch if closed, until you close that particular Gedit
window.

This issue is really annoying, especially if you try to debug Rhythmbox
with Gdb, but Rhythmbox always starts before Gdb can invoke it (this is
another one of those occasions)!

[Bug 192229] Re: Using built-in keyboard commands to control volume makes lists behave weird

2008-02-17 Thread F-3582
No, I didn't assign them. You can find those short cuts on the right
side of "Control->Increase/Decrease Volume". I would have made a
screenshot, but Ubuntu doesn't let me make screenshots when a pull-down
menu is pulled down.

However, I made a screenshot of the result.

[Bug 192229] Re: [Hardy] Using built-in keyboard commands to control volume makes lists behave weird

2008-02-15 Thread F-3582
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: rhythmbox

When using Ctrl+Up and Ctrl+Down to adjust playback volume or Ctrl+Left
- and Ctrl+Right to choose the track to be played in Rhythmbox it makes a
- dotted rectangle appear in the list you last worked with (Sidebar,
- Playlist, Artist selection, Album selection) which moves according to
- the arrow key you press.
+ and Ctrl+Right which don't have any use in Rhythmbox it makes a dotted
+ rectangle appear in the list you last worked with (Sidebar, Playlist,
+ Artist selection, Album selection) which moves according to the arrow
+ key you press.

This is confusing and definitely not intended behaviour, especially not
in the Playlist field, because that rectangle only uses a small fraction
of the "selected" tab. You can even scroll through your list using those
  keys.

[Bug 189761] Re: Wrong localised keyboard layout

2008-02-08 Thread F-3582
The problem is apparently that Gnome isn't able to override the keyboard
settings in your xorg.conf anymore. In earlier and more stable versions
Gnome asked whether to use the X settings or the custom Gnome settings.
This ain't the case, anymore.

For a quick fix, just edit the settings in your xorg.conf.
