[Bug 2064177] Re: Window borders and shadows missing from GTK3 dialogs (if autologin is enabled and Xorg is used)
I wonder if the lack of borders does not cause the click problem. Probably the click is calculated within the border and while there are no borders, there is a problem so the click goes to the lower window/object. There is quite a while without a solution, it is quite annoying. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2064177 Title: Window borders and shadows missing from GTK3 dialogs (if autologin is enabled and Xorg is used) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/2064177/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 2064177] [NEW] No windows margins, problems with detecting windows on clicks
Public bug reported: I have a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 instalation and some of the windows have a few problems. Some are probably caused by theming, as the windows' borders (or their color) makes them impossible to discern from the background windows. Just earlier I discovered another bug, related to detecting the click and window I clicked. I am trying to see the sub-content of a software update but the system reacts as I clicked the window below. In the recording you can see this happening both with the Terminal and with Firefox. [Bug 1949411] [NEW] GJS using lots of CPU resources non stop
Public bug reported: In my laptop, gjs is using lots of CPU resources (about 13% in my case) and I cannot stop it. Keeping the mouse over it, it seems to be related to the Desktop extension. I also attached a screeshot showing that. I tried Alt+F2 & r, nothing changes in this regard; I tried disabling the extension and Alt+F2 & r, nothing changes. Restart works. When this happens, the mouse cannot interact with the desktop icons. For instance, when I moved one file, it was still shown on the Desktop, although I have already moved it with Nautilus/Files. I have a theory: I use the desktop to temporary store files, also my screen recording software creates the files on the Desktop. One time, when I moved in Nautilus the file from the Desktop to my working folders, this bug was triggered. Maybe it was a coincidence, but it sure looked like that. My idea is that the extension does not properly work with other programs interacting with the desktop and it somehow crashes instead or re-scanning the files over there and paint them correctly. [Bug 1875038] Re: Lock screen not really functioning - Gnome Shell extensions visible and active even in lock screen
I have had this discussion with Gnome Shell developers when I first saw the bug, some versions behind, they see it as a feature, not as a bug. It is like fighting the wind over there. In the real world, where people expect computers and OS's to do what they say they do, a lock screen is supposed to lock access. Whatever else is running behind, access should be restricted, otherwise, it is worthless as a secure OS and lock screen. I know this should be on Gnome Shell developers, but as Ubuntu joined the boat using it, it becomes a problem for Ubuntu, too. I am tired of posting bugs on Gnome bugzilla because it is difficult, close to impossible to fight them (a lost fight was there to add back file sorting by extension in search, for instance). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875038 Title: Lock screen not really functioning - Gnome Shell extensions visible and active even in lock screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1875038/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1672297] Re: gnome-shell uses lots of memory, and grows over time
It might be more complicated to fix as there are lots and lots of actions that get to memory leaks. There are some crashes, too. Bad programming, probably, and it might need some fundamental changes in the code and architecture. They are creating lists and objects that are larger and larger on each trigger, without killing any when they are not needed or having a limit to recycle resources. [Bug 1245745] [NEW] Loading larger folders with images takes a lot of time
Public bug reported: I have lots of pictures on my computer and they are taken on digital camera. It makes them 1-6 MB each, and it is common to have 300-500 files in one folder. But using Nautilus to navigate there is a huge error, until I can do anything in that folder, it takes more than a minute. [Bug 1243993] [NEW] Ubuntu global menu and top bar not working sometimes
Public bug reported: Since I installed Ubuntu 13.10 I have some problems I did not have in all 6 months of using 13.04: - these days I had to work quite much in GIMP. I discovered that the global menu did not work in multiple ocasions or it was extremely-extremely slow. If the menus did not open, I had to use ALT+F to open File and then with LEFT/RIGHT keyboard keys to get to my menu (they all opened in the top left place of the upper Ubuntu bar). I was in a hurry, I have no screenshots with this. - today, I got another bug: the complete top bar did not work. Nothing was opening, I could not even open the shut down menu. I had to shut down computer by pressing the hardware Power button to get the 4 options window (suspend/restart/etc.). - just tried to see something in Software Center; got an empty window. Maybe the attached screenshots are related, I get some of these since I installed the new Ubuntu. - I have set the Privacy not to record images. Guess what I found in Dash? Images in Files area. Is it normal? (see screenshot) Having this in mind, I really hope some solution can be found quite fast, as these are blocking bugs. I cannot use my laptop if it works like this. [Bug 1155145] [NEW] IMAP attachments corruption
Public bug reported: On Oneiric Ocelot 11.10, Evolution 3.2.2-0ubuntu0.1 corrupts attachments when saving from IMAP account. It hapens very often on MS Office files (not on all of them), which makes it practically unusable. The IMAP server is local so network latency should not be a problem. Saving attachment from pine and then copying from server is ok, so it's not a problem of the attachment itself. It might be related to the fact that sometimes the IMAP connection hangs indefinitely and has to be stopped. IMAP ping errors are also reported frequently (bad timeout management issue?). Looking for an obvious answer on google, there might be one, but I had no success after a very long search time (and I am not a newbie), so I cannot tell if these problems have been fixed for more recent releases. No update that would fix this has been released so far for Ubuntu 11.10. It would be so nice if it used just "a little more cpu" :)) I really don't see why it is so resource hungry, even the KDE program (which is not really native on Gnome) is much faster and efficient (and just imagine how fast is a more simple python app like the one Xubuntu has by default). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-monitor in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1132359 Title: Gnome system monitor uses lots of processor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-system-monitor/+bug/1132359/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1132359] [NEW] Gnome system monitor uses lots of processor
Public bug reported: Hello! I thought it might be something normal for a tool to see running applications and other live information about system to use 5-10+ % of processor, but since I recently tried Xubuntu and that script uses almost no resources, I made my mind to report it as a bug. It can either be fixed by changing what makes the default system monitor in Ubuntu consume so much of our processor, or change it from the distribution. It is true, the Xubuntu script is simpler, but the main part is the one showing processor&memory&etc. of the running applications, and that one is just perfect. Just now I installed the KDE tool, ksysguard. And this one consumes 1-2% of processor, compared to 5-15% of gnome-system-monitor. If the Gnome team does not find a fix for this, please to replace it with something that works. Ksysguard is really really good, a lot better. Thank you! Public bug reported: Nautilus reacts strange from the user's point of view: as long as it is configured to move files to Trash, when I delete something, it should always move files to Trash. But it does not react like this on some occasions, I could not figure it out exactly. One case is when I delete files from NTFS mounted partitions (local hard disk). Another case seems to be when I delete files belonging to Root or some other user (I think). This does not make any sense. Either it puts all files in Trash, either it does not, but for all the files I delete. This is unreliable reaction as I do not know when I am safe to delete and recover a file and when I am not. [Bug 806606] Re: ip information frame not displayed correctly
I think the only solution for Natty is to use ~mfisch/+archive/gnome- nettool PPA: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mfisch/gnome-nettool Then update database: sudo apt-get update Finally, upgrade your packages: sudo apt-get upgrade F.
