[Bug 139725] no explanation of "desktop effects" settings
Public bug reported: The "desktop effects" tab of the appearance perferences dialog does not have any explanation of what the three settings mean, and how "normal effects" and "extra effects" are different. ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- no explanation of "desktop effects" settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/139725 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-control-center in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 129037] screen stuck faded out when exiting SDL applications
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver When using a fullscreen SDL application (usually a game), gnome- screensaver correctly doesn't start the screen-saver while I'm using the application. However about one time out of four, the screen will fade out as soon as the application exits, and it will not fade back in, leaving the screen completely black. The keyboard and mouse still work, and I can do things, so it has probably just changed the gamma table. ** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- screen stuck faded out when exiting SDL applications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/129037 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 69286] Loading RSS feed offers firefox-specific functionality
Public bug reported: When Epiphany gets given the URL of an RSS (e.g. http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/thissportinglife/podcast/tsl.xml) it loads it using the Firefox 2.0 RSS handler, which displays a page with options for things like "Live Bookmarks" which Epiphany doesn't do. The best thing to do would be to display the dialog from the "New Feed Subscription" extension (an official one). I'm not sure what should happen if that is turned off, but offering firefox-specific bits isn't good. ** Affects: epiphany-browser (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Loading RSS feed offers firefox-specific functionality https://launchpad.net/bugs/69286 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 43853] Re: Rhythmbox shouldn't be scanning the video files
Rhythmbox has to scan all files, because until it scans them it doesn't know whether they contain audio and/or video. Mimetypes aren't enough, because many types like application/ogg and video/quicktime are just containers, and so may contain audio (Vorbis, AAC) or video (Theora, QT video). The problem of RB crashing on imports has been fixed for 0.9.4, if the metadata-helper is enabled (which it is by default). Using that importing is run in a separate process, so crahes in GStreamer won't kill RB. -- Rhythmbox shouldn't be scanning the video files https://launchpad.net/bugs/43853 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 35725] Re: playback error when playing flac files from remote shared library
This is caused by a known gstreamer bug, http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340492. The "flacdec" element doesn't support push-based operation, and the "gnomevfssrc" element doesn't support pull-based operation, so it doesn't work. -- playback error when playing flac files from remote shared library https://launchpad.net/bugs/35725 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 35661] Re: Cant' change "default" sound card
After moving those files away, chaging sounds cards works fine. Below is the info you asked for, if it's still interesting. > asoundconf is-active; echo $? [Bug 35661] Cant' change "default" sound card
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/35661 Affects: gnome-media (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: I have two sound cards in my machine (onboard and a real sound card), and gnome-sound-properties correctly shows both. The "Default sound card" option recently switched to my onboard card (which I don't use) for some reason. Selecting the other card from the drop-menu does not appear to work, and it reverts as soon as the sound properties are re-opened.
