[Bug 1232783] [NEW] Appearance dialog crashes on Intel graphics hardware

2013-09-29 Thread James Brierley
Public bug reported:

When launching the appearance dialog, it is unresponsive and quickly
stalls, the window greys out and it requires a kill or 'force quit'.

This appears to be specific to Intel graphics hardware (and possibly
other brands) as another Ubuntu user I know who is using the proprietary
ATI drivers is not experiencing the problem.

2013-09-29 Thread James Brierley
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed, since the report is ill-formed. Perhaps the report data got
modified?

need more than 1 value to unpack

If you encounter the crash again, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 1181817] Re: 'Appearance' settings dialog crashes on launch

2013-06-19 Thread James Brierley
This is still an issue and apport-cli is still denying that launchpadlib
is installed (though it is). I can't change my wallpaper and I can't
update the bug where I'm reporting it. I'm attaching the crash file
manually. It's the best I can do.

[Bug 1181817] Re: 'Appearance' settings dialog crashes on launch

2013-05-26 Thread James Brierley
I've generated the required trace, but when trying to update the bug,
this results:

james@rainbowphoenix:~$ apport-cli -u 1181817

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please try to obtain a symbolic backtrace following the

the backtrace (as an attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly
help us in tracking down your problem.

I'm sorry but no matter what I do I can't get what's required. I've
tried using apport-cli to generate a symbolic backtrace, but when I
choose the relevant option it just exits after setting up the sandbox.
