[Bug 1866134] [NEW] Yaru icons are not shown in Gnome-Software

2020-03-04 Thread MadsRH
Public bug reported:

When an icon theme different from Adwaita is selected, the icons from
that theme are not shown in Gnome-Software.

This is confusing for user because they now see two different icons for
the same application (see the screenshot upstream).

It would be great if Gnome-Software would look for the icon in the
selected icon theme.

software/issues/929

[Bug 1864843] Re: shell theme should be adapted to GTK theme

2020-02-26 Thread MadsRH
Hi Danial

Here's a quote from the Ubuntu blog: https://ubuntu.com/blog/new-ubuntu-
theme-in-development-for-20-04

> In future, we would also like these settings to switch the theme for
shell elements, such as the top bar and notification bubbles. Achieving
this without requiring a logout each time will require additional work
in GNOME Shell – something we are investigating.

[Bug 1632027] Re: New Document feature missing from Nautilus 3.20+

2020-02-26 Thread MadsRH
I'll add my frustration here as well and possibly a solution.

I think we all agree that this is a basic feature and removing it
results in a horrible user experience. The key here is IMHO the lack of
discoverability. I wouldn't call myself a beginner user and yet I had no
idea that the disappearing "New document" in the contextmenu was related
to the Template folder.

Anyway, I’ll be sad to see yet another LTS shipped where this isn’t fix,
so what do you think about this simple solution:

If the Templates folder is empty, a submenu entry is added in the
contextmenu, which simply is a link to the Template folder. And ofc as
soon as you put something in the Template folder, the user sees only
that in the submenu. We already have a help text inside the folder and a
"learn more..." link.

It’s not ideal, but it increases discoverability which is key here.
What do you think?

This would need to be a patch since upstream don't want it :/

[Bug 301035] Re: Ubuntu icon on the system partition

2009-08-03 Thread MadsRH
Daniel Rodrigues -> Sould new user mess with the file system? If I'm a
new user coming to Ubuntu and I see something titled "Ubuntu", I
wouldn't think of that as something not to mess with. But if I see
something titled "File system" I really wouldn't want to mess with that.

Mik3 -> +1 that icon look really good.

Perhaps it can be combined with Nicolò Chieffo work, so small 16x16
icons will only show the Ubuntu logo, but larger icons will show the
logo on top of the device like in Mik3's attachment.

[Bug 229245] Re: No logout sound is played on both Gutsy and Hardy final release versions

2009-02-23 Thread MadsRH
I can confirm this for Intrepid Ibex.

How annoying - if it is intended that you can't add a log-out sound, the
option should be removed! Or perhaps someone could hack it in such a way
that, when a user adds a logout sound, the system shutdown settings will
change so the sound can be played.

I know that the sound probably has been removed to reduce shutdown time,
but should be fixed!

[Bug 290872] [NEW] 60 sec shutdown should display the countdown

2008-10-29 Thread MadsRH
Public bug reported:

Selecting the "shut down" in the "system" menu will show:
[You will be automatically logged out/Your system will automatically shut down]
in 60 seconds."

The problem is, the 60 seconds part, it stays frozen the way it is. It
should literally count down, 59, 58, 57, etc., letting the user onto the
situation instead of making him/her wonder how many seconds has passed.

I know this is a very low priority "bug", but I also think details like
this helps improve the user experience.
