[Bug 323335] [NEW] Evolution fails to display HTML email formatted

2009-01-30 Thread Ryan Pavlik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When receiving HTML email (from an IMAP server), the preview pane shows
the source code, not the formatted email, about 95% of the time (there
appears to be no pattern: the rare email that shows fine might show
wrong later on, etc. If it matters, when an email displays formatted,
pressing Ctrl-I to load images appears to be working (according to the
status bar) but the images still display as a broken link.). This
worked fine in Hardy, now that I am on Intrepid this problem has arisen.
(I kept the same /home partition but did a fresh install to a new /
partition, and haven't used the Hardy one since I upgraded.)

On some messages, the characters 3D will be inserted seemingly
randomly in to the HTML source code (often near other non-alphanumeric
symbols, such as in a URL query string in a link), which must be removed
before I can copy and paste a link to view it (since it damaged the URL
making it incorrect.) However, not all mails show this, only about 50%,
and it does not seem to be dependent on the sender.

These mails all display fine in Apple Mail.app, no matter whether I read
them first in that application or Evolution.

If there is other information I can provide to help resolve this, let me
know.

(I'm on Intrepid AMD64)

[Bug 59140] Re: Non-text attachments are shown inline as if they are text

2009-01-30 Thread Ryan Pavlik
I apparently also have this problem - the mail server is Novell NetMail,
over IMAP, for me. Some emails (that I know are HTML ones) the entire
message shows up as the MIME-encoded text (aka, I can't see any readable
text) whereas others the attachment just shows up like this after the
email. It works fine for me on Apple Mail.app in OS X 10.5. I use
Intrepid AMD64, this was a problem in Hardy, and I think in Feisty and
Gutsy too. (Can't remember when it last worked all the time, though it
used to work some of the time.)

[Bug 115163] Selecting text hangs system

2007-05-16 Thread Ryan Pavlik
Public bug reported:

http://www.snc.edu/compserv/handouts/netdrive.pdf is the sample file.

To reproduce (Feisty):
Click and drag starting at the s in https:// on the first address shown (for
NetStorage), ending theoretically at the end of the URL.
For me, it never made it to the end without hanging the entire system requiring
a reboot. (Once, the caps lock and scroll lock lights on my keyboard were
flashing but this didn't happen the second time the hang occurred).

window is no longer updated or repainted. It must be killed. Next time

[Bug 61902] Re: plugin installation incomprehensible

2007-01-16 Thread Ryan Pavlik
To clarify this:

If you want to install plugins, apt-get install abiword-plugins
The Install Plugins button in AbiWord is only for running plugins that are
not in the expected locations (that is, if there were third party plugins,
development stuff, etc) and does NOT need to be used by the average person.
You can pretend that plugin dialog doesn't even exist and you'll be able to use
your plugins just fine.

[Bug 36807] Re: Ruler numbers are bold and italic

2007-01-16 Thread Ryan Pavlik
Well, the standard build does not have bold/italic rulers. Only when
(and always when) AbiWord is built as a part of your Ubuntu package
(including if it is upgraded with a new upstream version per the Debian
New Maintainers' Guide) does the bold/italic numbers come up. This is a
downstream-only problem - perhaps a patch with an unintended side-
affect?

Actually, this also happens with Open. Presuming it's something
involving the file chooser dialogs.

[Bug 39612] Request for UVF exception - Release of Bugfix-only AbiWord 2.4.4

2006-04-14 Thread Ryan Pavlik
Public bug reported:

Affects: abiword (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
AbiWord 2.4.4 was recently released, a new release on the stable branch
of AbiWord. It contains many bug fixes (almost 4 months worth)
including many fixes to the OpenDocument support. The source is
available here: http://www.abisource.com/downloads/abiword/2.4.4/

It has already been added to FC5 and released on Windows, it would be
great if this improved, more stable and reliable release of AbiWord was
also available in Ubuntu Dapper.

[Bug 36946] Screen Resolution tool (gnome-display-properties) does not change refresh rate, resolution in Dapper

2006-04-04 Thread Ryan Pavlik
Public bug reported:

Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
This is a regression.

I have a ViewSonic VX924 LCD monitor connected via DVI to a GeForce
6600GT PCI-E. When the screen is operated at 75hz, faint yellow noise
appears in white areas on the screen. (I believe this is due to the
quality of the DVI cable that came with the monitor.) For this reason,
I used to have the monitor set to 60hz, which resolved the problem.
After an upgrade to Dapper, the problem showed itself, and so I
attempted to change the refresh rate, using the Screen Resolution tool.
This was unsuccessful - it acted like it had completed the change
without actually doing so. Attempting to change the resolution behaved
similarly.

I was unsure what component to connect this to, since I could not find
gnome-display-properties (found through Alacarte) in the package list.

[Bug 37268] Song title and artist in window do not update upon a new song played automatically

2006-03-29 Thread Ryan Pavlik
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/37268

Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
The window updates the song title and artist when a song is double-
clicked to be played. However, I have several songs displayed and
shuffle mode set, and when it proceeds to the next song to play, the
initial title and artist are still left in the window. As far as I can
tell this only happens in Shuffle Mode. I'm on Dapper, AMD64.

[Bug 37274] sudo apt-get build-dep abiword pulls in old, universe LibGSF and LibWPD

2006-03-29 Thread Ryan Pavlik
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/37274

Affects: abiword (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I am attempting to build AbiWord from source, and so I ran sudo apt-get
build-dep abiword. I get linker errors about wv and gsf, so I look in
Synaptic and notice that now, two versions of libgsf (and dev files) are
installed, an official/main one and one from universe, which is older.
When I remove the older universe one, it also removes the libwpd-7 which
the build-dep installed. Looking in synaptic, I can see that I already
had libwpd-8 installed.

[Bug 36929] Upgrade to dapper breaks mp3 playback

2006-03-27 Thread Ryan Pavlik
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/36929

Affects: totem totem-gstreamer (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I had installed MP3 playback on my system during Hoary, and it stayed
functioning during the upgrade to Breezy. However, it no longer
functions (in Totem or in Rhythmbox) now that I am using Dapper. I
think this is because of the gstreamer-0.10 upgrade, however, there
should be a transition package or some other mechanism to maintain the
same level of features over an upgrade.

[Bug 27549] Abiword should save to OpenDocument by default

2006-02-22 Thread Ryan Pavlik
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/27549

Comment:
This will not happen, period. ODT will be available as a feasible
option for import and export, however, since it is basically a dump of
OpenOffice's internal data structures, it does not match exactly with
AbiWord. This would take AbiWord back a step or several.

[Bug 18501] abiword misses pdf-output plugin

2006-02-22 Thread Ryan Pavlik
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/18501

Comment:
To create a PDF from AbiWord, simply go into the Print dialog, and
choose Create a PDF. AbiWord 2.4.x requires libgnomeprint across both
the GTK and GNOME builds, bringing this feature along with. While I
believe there is a new PDF output plugin, it simply adds a separate menu
item for this same functionality.

[Bug 32558] Upgrade gtkmathview and add the abimathview plugin

2006-02-22 Thread Ryan Pavlik
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32558

Affects: abiword (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
AbiWord 2.4.x includes the powerful new AbiMathView plugin which allows
equation editing and insertion from MathML or LaTeX. It requires at
least gtkmathview 0.7.5 (2.4.2+ prefers 0.7.6 but works with 0.7.5) in
order to build and run. No other additional dependencies are required
directly by the plugin.

[Bug 31816] Seeking causes dynamic range problems: loss of bass, sound quality

2006-02-17 Thread Ryan Pavlik
Public bug reported:

Affects: totem totem-gstreamer (Ubuntu)

Description:
Found on AMD64 Breezy.

Reproduce:

Let it play to assure you that it sounds right.
Seek ahead, notice that it now sounds staticky and bass-response is lost.
Close Totem and open that file again.

Description:

pilot applet to my panel. After any hotsync (and the gnome-pilot window
closes), my system-monitor panel applet (and the Gnome System Monitor
confirms) indicates 100% CPU usage. The system monitor reports that
gpilotd is using around 80% of cpu power. This is an Athlon 64 3200+
