[Bug 2072568] [NEW] In Lock Screen the password input is not focused

2024-07-09 Thread Victor Porton
Public bug reported:

Sometimes in Lock Screen the password entry is unfocused. (I didn't
determine how to reprise the bug.)

Probably, the only workaround is mouse click (Tab key doesn't help).

so of inactivity, even when my laptop is connected to electricity.
That's harmful for eyes.

[Bug 2060384] [NEW] I'm using an external diplay. When disconnecting the HDMI cable, my laptop screen remains dark (when it should actually activate)+

2024-04-07 Thread Victor
Public bug reported:

I normally don't use the laptop screen, as the external display suits me better.
However, when I disconnect the HDMI cable (and the external screen is no longer
connected), the laptop display should pop back and activate.

This doesn't happen - the laptop display remains dark and I have no
active display.

Checking https://askubuntu.com/questions/1405901/ubuntu-22-04-ui-issues-

that it's possible to work around this bug if edit the name of the file
to be saved, just adding any character to the filename and it will be
saved in any folder.

[Bug 1970984] Re: Can't save files in a Folder in a Folder 22.04

2022-04-30 Thread Joao Victor
I tried downloading files using google chrome and firefox and the behavior is
the same. If I try to save the file to my homedir the file is downloaded, if I
try to save to /tmp it also works, but if I try to save to any other folder it
doesn't work, the download doesn't start.
I downloaded firefox in version 91.0.0-esr
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/91.8.0esr/linux-x86_64/en-US/firefox-91.8.0esr.tar.bz2
And I was able to save files in any folder.

I also noticed that when opening the download window I get the following log
using sudo journalctl -f

[Bug 1833832] Re: NVIDIA kernel module fails with KMS on optimus hardware

2019-12-03 Thread Victor
Although the bug seemed fixed, the same happened to me today. I'm using
a Ryzen 5 2600, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB DDR4 RAM and the Ubuntu 19.10, and
after I've done a fresh install and rebooted the system, I couldn't
login. My Xorg log was the same as the reported above and the resolution
was the same, but I made some alterations on the GRUB, as this tutorial
recommends:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1184060/ubuntu-19-10-login-loop-after-
installing-proprietary-nvidia-drivers

** Summary changed:

- NVIDIA kernel module fails with KMS on optimus hardware
+ NVIDIA kernel module fails with proprietary drivers

** Summary changed:

- NVIDIA kernel module fails with proprietary drivers
+ NVIDIA kernel module fails with proprietary drivers, looping login

1. I click a .deb file.

2. I want to see both the new version and the old version.

3. I see only the new version.

[Bug 1815271] [NEW] Should show old package version

2019-02-09 Thread Victor Porton
Public bug reported:

When clicking a .deb file, it should also show the old version if an old
version of the package was already installed.

It should also apply to packages to be installed from repositories (not
sure if this already works).

Public bug reported:

Rhythmbox on Ubuntu goes with "Alternative Toolbar" enabled by default.

This alternative toolbar is missing volume control!

together.

[Bug 1792316] [NEW] Hebrew keyboard does not work

2018-09-13 Thread Victor Porton
Public bug reported:

When I switch the keyboard to Hebrew, it types English. (Russian input
works, however.)

Maybe it was broken after running these Bash commands:

v="[('xkb', 'us'), ('xkb', 'ru+typewriter'), ('xkb', 'il')]"
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.input-sources sources "$v"

Removing Hebrew layout "manually" (that is through the Gnome
configuration, not through a script) and adding it back (manually too)
does not help against the bug.

So, I can't type Hebrew anymore. Help!

[Bug 1782003] [NEW] A mouse glitch in "Auto-hide the Dock" mode

2018-07-16 Thread Victor Porton
Public bug reported:

Initially reported at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-
shell/issues/416 and told that it is an Ubuntu feature and should be
reported at Ubuntu tracker.

I use "Auto-hide the Dock" mode.

When I put mouse at the left side of the screen, the dock unhides well.

But if I first put the mouse to the top of the screen and then keeping
it a the top move to the left (even if later I move the mouse down
holding it at the left side of the screen), then the dock does not
unhide.

This behavior is:

* inconvenient

* not intuitive

It is so much inconvenient that I call this a bug.

It is gnome-shell 3.28.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 on Ubuntu 18.04.

[Bug 1776472] [NEW] Can't see WIFI networks on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

2018-06-12 Thread Weslley Victor
Public bug reported:

When I installed Ubuntu on my local machine I couldn't see the WIFI
networks, especially the one I use with internet access (the funny thing
is that when I tried to setup a wifi hotspot from my mobile fone Ubuntu
showed it). So, I managed to solve the problem by downloading and runing
the drivers for my network controller (Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
RTL8723BE) and now I have run a command to turn the network driver off
and on again every time the computer starts.

[Bug 1723857] Re: onscreen keyboard appears whenever i touch touchscreen

2017-12-05 Thread Emile Victor
I would settle for having it be disable-able at all times. There is no
reason why it should default to on for a device with a physical
keyboard.

The desired behaviour would be:

1. Detect if there is a physical keyboard
1a. If there is a physical keyboard, on-screen keyboard defaults to hidden at
all times
1b. If there isn't, default it to shown.

[Bug 1665144] [NEW] nautilus reports that an NTFS drive is read-only while it is writeable

2017-02-15 Thread Victor Deng
Public bug reported:

By default, Nautilus seems to mount an NTFS partition read-only when a
Windows system that has Fast Boot enabled accesses the partition, is
shut down and I boot back into Ubuntu. However, when I umount the
partition, run ntfsfix on it, and mount it again, Nautilus does not let
me move, paste or create folders and files, but surprisingly allows me
to delete anything. Such behavior is quite strange.

More formally:
Steps to reproduce the bug:
- Boot Windows and shut it down with Fast Boot enabled (so the NTFS partitions
will be in an unsafe state)
- Boot into Ubuntu
- Open an NTFS partition with Nautilus (not the one that contains Windows). As
expected the partition is mounted read-only and menus don't allow the user to
modify anything (items disabled).
- Unmount the partition (I used the umount command from a terminal)
- Run "sudo ntfsfix /dev/sdXX"
- Reopen the NTFS partition

What was expected:
I should be able to create, move or delete files with Nautilus.

What happened:
The menu items used to create, move or delete files are enabled but when I
actually try to create files or folders, or move any to the NTFS partition,
Nautilus complains about the destination being read-only. Deleting files or
moving them away from the partition works flawlessly. I can also modify
everything with other tools, like a text editor or terminal commands.
Restarting Nautilus (i.e. running "nautilus -q" then "nautilus") solves the
problem.

[Bug 1489329] Re: MX4 GPS doesn't work at all

2016-09-21 Thread Victor Gabillon
GPS has been not working on my Meizu MX4 for a long time time now. Recently it
went back to life after the OTA 13 update but only for a couple of hours.
After I tried to connect to WIFI, the GPS dropped. And now, after reboot, or
delete the config file as advised in previous comments, I am back to the
No-GPS state.
It used to work sometimes when wifi was available but now it seems that the
phone is also recently having big problems connecting to WIFI (cannot connect
to my work wifi for instance).

[Bug 517021] Re: gvfsd-metadata causes 100% CPU usage

2016-05-03 Thread Victor Rodrigues
[UPDATE]

Here the problem persists. Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

Tried the solution of emptying the metadata folder described above and
it eliminates the mentioned problem for just a few days. Done this a
couple of times.

Now, i am trying the other proposed solution above of disabling gvfsd:
"chmod -x /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-metadata".

Waiting for a fix.

Best regards

[Bug 223636] Re: gvfs should unmount remote mounts on network disconnect

2013-11-13 Thread Victor Yap
For users who use gvfs exclusively in a desktop environment:

This kind of issue is apparently somewhat addressed by a program called
Gigolo (http://www.uvena.de/gigolo/index.html)

It makes it easier for me to do the reconnecting. More specifically, it
doesn't care if the mount was left dangling; it's smart enough to sort
that out simply by being asked to connect.

As for those who might be using gvfs to support CLI operations... maybe
Gigolo's source code can reveal some potentially useful insights that
can be carried into gvfs... http://git.xfce.org/apps/gigolo

[Bug 1136572] Re: Unable to maintain wireless connection

2013-02-28 Thread Victor Tousignant
This seems not to be limited to wireless connectivity. Wired connection
to xfinity modem is also dropping connection immediately after
establishing

[Bug 405340] Re: Conky background uses gtk_color_scheme's window background color, at random

2013-02-18 Thread Victor Ducrot
Same issue here with ubuntu 12.10.
It usually happens with opened applications running (nautilus, synapse...).
My understanding was that it took the color of the app when it overlapped with
it t(they are grey on my config). Just a supposition.

[Bug 1077477] Re: Downloading big file from FTP in Nautilus

2013-02-13 Thread Victor
Same thing here. Even a 500Mo file is a problem to me (occured on several
servers).
I can download the files ok through lftp.
Is there no setting available to the user for this timeout? I googled to no
avail... Only showed that FTP timeouts in Nautilus have been an annoyance for
years now :-(

Hi again.

I recently noted it also happens on my Unity session with the same
behavior, the memory leak occurs while I'm using Nautilus.

[Bug 1046118] Re: screen powers down after 10 minutes regardless of what Brightness and Lock settings used.

2012-11-24 Thread Victor Zamanian
Same here. I'm on Ubuntu GNOME Remix. Doesn't seem to matter whether I'm
playing a video (totem, vlc, YouTube, whatever) in fullscreen or not
fullscreen, whether the timer in Brightness and Lock setting is set to
10 min, 1 hour or Never... The screen always goes black after 10
minutes. Always. (Unless I move the mouse or type on the keyboard, of
course.)

I have tried to mute the sound with the blocked screen and it worked. It
is not possible to pause the player or change the volume but I believe
it is already a good step.

[Bug 844081] Re: Unity Greeter - Background of the Unity Greeter should reflect the background chosen by the user that is currently selected

2012-10-02 Thread Victor Zamanian
I'm very late to this party, but:

We have FAR more pressing problems on the discretion front. Top of my
list is the fact that we don't map notifications away from projectors.
That's far more risky - you can control your choice of wallpaper, but
you can't control what someone might IM to you while you are making your
critical presentation.

So, please help us address that issue. I'm sure we all agree that's more
important, and perhaps, by the time we come back to this less important
issue, we will all have evolved our positions. OK?

By your logic, a perfectly acceptable solution to this is to just
uninstall notifications. Or uninstall their IM program. Simple right? Or
just not use Ubuntu! Or the regular user could just patch it themselves!
Oh how simple. All your reasons for ignoring this option are perfectly
applicable to the more pressing issue you described. In my experience,
the amount of people who have offensive (or private as I'd much
rather call them, because offensive is surely a very small subset of
private) wallpapers is much greater than the amount of people who use
projectors while their IM program is running.

And what! I think I just solved your pressing problem -- just turn
your IM program off? Could it be that simple? Otherwise, uninstall it.

I'm sorry for any unwarranted sarcasm or spitefulness, but this bug
report thread made me really, really sad about Ubuntu's attitude and
priorities at the top of the mound. :-\

With love,
Victor
