[Bug 2013216] Re: Single click on title bar does not transfer focus to target window (server side decorations in Xorg sessions)
about firefox it has a custom titlebar - the UI packs the tabs on the titlebar in order to save screen space. google chrome is the same and also an exception to the bug. about the snap, it appear to have permission structures involving UI- related middleware (I am guessing), so fixing the interactive user UI session may have left the middleware unfixed/inconsistent? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2013216 Title: Single click on title bar does not transfer focus to target window (server side decorations in Xorg sessions) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mutter/+bug/2013216/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 2000022] [NEW] app icon highlighting is glitched when a file is opened in the file explorer
Public bug reported: When I open a text file in Files with an application that has not been added to favorites, the app highlighting (white rounded rectangle around the icon) is glitched. [Bug 1998680] [NEW] The latest update to xdg-desktop-portal causes caja plugins to throw thousands of errors filling the syslog
Public bug reported: After updates this month to my Ubuntu 20.04 system running MATE desktop with snapd removed. I noticed CPU utilization was up 25% constantly and the syslog was filled with errors from caja plugins. I did a timeshift restore to 11/30 and then did updates one by one. [Bug 1839544] Re: power setting "display off" maximum is 15 minutes, used to have several hour increment values
This should be a very simple thing to fix. And if I knew "C" I would fix it myself. but I don't, my knowledge base is in many other computer programming languages that date all the way back to the 1960's. While I still program computers, now-a-days they are primarily a tool to be used in solving other problems... In my opinion, the best long term fix would be to provide a "[ ] other" box with a way to allow entering the actual idle time desired -- then a user can set it to what ever their circumstances dictates. unfortunately, The concept of "keyboard idle" is not necessarily the best indication of an "unattended terminal". and the futuristic concept of tracking eyeball movements to see if anybody is actually looking at the screen, would probably not be acceptable to most humans. "15 min" of no keyboard/mouse movement is too short a time period, especially when the screen is being used to display reference material. "never" is too long, especially when you need to keep user specific background processes running - or I would simply logoff and log back on later. (One would hope that the user selectable "idle time" values are being translated internally to some form of seconds or minutes, and that they are not simply used to set a series of "bit switches", thus my suggestion to provide a text entry box.) I would also like to suggest that most folks use a computer to solve real world problems, and that computers exist primarily as a tool to be used, and not just as just programming exercises Thank you. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1839544 Title: power setting "display off" maximum is 15 minutes, used to have several hour increment values To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1839544/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1839544] [NEW] power setting "display off" maximum is 15 minutes, used to have several hour increment values
Public bug reported: Just upgraded to Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS from Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. In the POWER settings for blanking the display, there used to be several options that allowed selecting a time interval of 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, etc. Under Ubuntu 18.04.2 there are only 9 selectable time values: i.e. 1 min, 2 min, 3 min, 4 min, 5 min, 8 min, 10 min, 12 min, 15 minutes, and never. This might be fine for a portable laptop running on batteries, but is not acceptable for a desktop system. The never option is not good, because then the monitor NEVER goes dark. My preferred time is to set this to 1-hour because of the length of conference calls. It is a real nuisance to have the screen blank on you while you are reading information displayed on the screen to a multi-person conference call... ...Especially if you lock your screen, requiring you to log back on. I suggest adding some of the time values back to the pull down list, or possibly adding a "other" fill-in value box where the user can specify in minutes when he wants the screen to blank when idle. I consider this to be a bug, and not a feature enhancement, because I used to be able to say "1 hour". ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1839544 Title: power setting "display off" maximum is 15 minutes, used to have several hour increment values To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1839544/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1407694] [NEW] Gmail webapp stops working and can't recover
Public bug reported: ubuntu-rtm image 184 on Krillin Was using the phone a lot during the break and experienced Gmail getting into a state where it would launch and have a white screen. You could not recover even after killing and restarting the app. This happened mulitple times. I believe the online account service possibly is getting killed by the OOM killer and trying to launch Gmail after this occurs does not work. If this is the case, we should a) try to not let account service be killed by oom killer and b) recover gracefully if the service is not running and still allow the app to be launced. Steps to reproduce: 1) setup online account for Google and Gmail 2) unplug the phone from USB 3) launch gmail webapp and a lot of other apps 4) kill gmail but leave other apps running 5) use the phone for a while and let it suspend for a while (5-10 minutes) 6) try and launch gmail and you get a blank white screen, see the log below. 7) kill and restart gmail with the same error The only way I could make it work again was to delete the online account or reboot webapp-container: unrecognized option '--store-session-cookies' webapp-container: unrecognized option '--accountProvider=google' webapp-container: unrecognized option '--webappUrlPatterns=https?://mail.google.*/*,https?://accounts.google.*/*,https?://accounts.google.co.*/*,https?://www.google.*/accounts/*,https?://www.google.com/calendar*' libust[28543/28580]: Error: Error opening shm /lttng-ust-wait-5-32011 (in get_wait_shm() at lttng-ust-comm.c:886) libust[28543/28579]: Error: Error opening shm /lttng-ust-wait-5 (in get_wait_shm() at lttng-ust-comm.c:886) libust[28543/28579]: Error: Error opening shm /lttng-ust-wait-5 (in get_wait_shm() at lttng-ust-comm.c:886) libust[28543/28580]: Error: Error opening shm /lttng-ust-wait-5-32011 (in get_wait_shm() at lttng-ust-comm.c:886) Invalid webapps installation Invalid webapps installation Ignoring empty or invalid webapp URL pattern: "https?://accounts.google.co.*/*" Using Oxide as the web engine backend Setting session cookie mode to "persistent" Empty path in webapps model search path update request QQmlExpression: Expression file:///usr/share/webbrowser-app/webcontainer/WebApp.qml:179:25 depends on non-NOTIFYable properties: unity::action::qml::ActionManager::globalContext Empty path in webapps model search path update request UbuntuWindow - regular geometry UbuntuWindow::handleSurfaceFocusChange(focused=true) UbuntuWindow::handleSurfaceResize(width=540, height=919) UbuntuClipboard - Got invalid serialized mime data. [Bug 1339016] Re: Initial sync of the calendar takes a prohibitive amount of time
We were able to improve the situation by limiting how far in the past to sync for calendar events. This was a combination of a new version of syncevolution, and a patch to it and sync-monitor to introduce a "syncInterval" configuration setting (defaults to 90 days) specifiying how many days in the past to go back when syncing. For my caledar, it used to take 20 minutes for initial sync. Now it takes 33 seconds! Will need testing by others but this seems to help greatly. ** No longer affects: evolution-data-server (Ubuntu) ** Also affects: sync-monitor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: sync-monitor (Ubuntu RTM) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: syncevolution (Ubuntu RTM) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: sync-monitor (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Committed ** Changed in: sync-monitor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: syncevolution (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released ** Changed in: syncevolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: syncevolution (Ubuntu RTM) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: sync-monitor (Ubuntu RTM) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: sync-monitor Status: Confirmed => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution-data-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1339016 Title: Initial sync of the calendar takes a prohibitive amount of time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/sync-monitor/+bug/1339016/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1339016] Re: Initial sync of the calendar takes a prohibitive amount of time
We use syncevolution, which communicates with Google on the remote side and evolution-data-server on the local side to store events. There is no API in syncevolution to limit the scope of events retrieved. We need to look into modifying it to do so, and to optimize it's operational time as it's ridiculously slow (this in part is likely due to evolution- calendar-factory using a flat file to store the calendar events). Renato has indicated there is a newer version of syncevolution which has recently been released that may improve the situation. The next step is to try this new version and see if it helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution-data-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1339016 Title: Initial sync of the calendar takes a prohibitive amount of time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/sync-monitor/+bug/1339016/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1342123] Re: evolution-calendar-factory always running with high memory usage
To clarify, out of the box on krillin with no calendar sync even enabled, evolution-calendar-factory uses 32MB which is the 4th highest process in memory usage. This is with an empty database of no calendar events or alarms. I'm assuming evolution-calendar-factory gets loaded by indicator- datetime initially such that the indicator can show calendar events. If you have a large database of calendar entries (i.e. after you've done a google calendar sync), as Pat reported this process can grow to well over 100MB. It seems to have no upper bound, and since the evolution backend for calendar is simply a flat file of type .ics, e-c-f appears to load the entire file into memory. e-c-f really needs a sqlite backend or something such that it can manage it more efficiently. Someone needs to investigate what can be done in the short term reduce the memory usage if possible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution-data-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1342123 Title: evolution-calendar-factory always running with high memory usage To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution-data-server/+bug/1342123/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 885989] Re: white screen on second monitor when using two xsessions
I agree with Paul, I do not understand why this still has not been fixed. Multiple screen support worked in Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10, and does not now work in Ubuntu 11.xx or Ubuntu 12.xx (I am currently on Ubuntu 12.10, would have prefered to stay on 12.04 LTS, but other issues with 12.04.1 forced me to upgrade to 12.10) Since I am accustomed to being able to run separate X screens, (one "screen" was a single 1024x768, and the other "screen" was a triple 1440x900) running on a dual head display card) --- being restricted to two SINGLE monitors running in twinview has severely affected my productivity. While I am a software and systems developer, I do not program in "C", so I am not comfortable or knowlegable in how to "patch" files and recompile them under Linux --- and cannot afford to lose my system again for weeks on end like what happened with the upgrade to 12.04.1. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/885989 Title: white screen on second monitor when using two xsessions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/885989/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
