[Bug 1969602] Re: gnome-shell with focus-mode=mouse behaves wrongly when alt-tabbing
I'm experiencing a different effect of what I _think_ is this bug, in which if I'm using multiple virtual desktops and I switch to a different desktop, then if a window on the desktop to which I am switching happens to be under the cursor, not only will it gain focus but it will also be raised to the top. If this is deemed to be a different bug I'm happy to open a new issue, but it seems the wayland focus-follows-mouse behaviour is a little broken. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969602 Title: gnome-shell with focus-mode=mouse behaves wrongly when alt-tabbing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1969602/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

@Michael BTW, you may use the same PPA directly by modifying the software source line and change 'saucy' to 'precise'. [Bug 1279272] Re: apparmor denies evince a chmod operation
Following what tested I report that even in a clean install (done on a virtual machine) of Ubuntu Desktop 12.04.4 this issue is present, enabling 'toolkit-accessibility' setting and running evince a denied message from apparmor was detected on the log. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1279272 Title: apparmor denies evince a chmod operation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1279272/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1279272] Re: apparmor denies evince a chmod operation
Issue found !!! After some test I found the issue (at least in my system). The problem is connect to a dconf setting, the key is 'toolkit-accessibility' into the schema 'org.gnome.desktop.interface'. When enable the issue is raised. Steps to reproduce: by a new user: 1) create new user 2) verify that the key value is false (default value) 3) check message when evince is launched: no message from apparmor! 4) set up the key to 'true' value, default value is false 5) check message when evince is launched: Denied message from apparmor! or by an existing user through steps 2 to 5 This is what I found out on my system. May be that the setting is left over from previous settings because my home partition is always the same for a long time over different version of the system. I do not know if it is connected or may be useful to know but on my system all options from 'Universal Access' (System Settings) are disable even when the value is true. Can you try this thing ? [Bug 1279272] Re: apparmor denies evince a chmod operation
Additional information: premise: p1) I made a test changing the owner and group of the /tmp/at-spi2/ folder with the user logged-in solve the problem. Maybe it was granted, but it tried anyway p2) Evince seem to work fine, I never detected problems reading pdf file during normal work. This error does not seem to affect the entire program operation. Based on of my knowledge I have tried to verify the requirements requested by Jamie Strandboge: a1) the environment and /tmp/at-spi2/: considering what I have discovered a way to change the environment connected to the '/tmp/at-spi2/' is to define XDG_RUNTIME_DIR, but this variable is not defined, the command env|grep XDG produce: XDG_SESSION_COOKIE=023e99a7ae9aa1d1d49fde230008-1393614529.236409-511883369 XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=/etc/xdg/xdg-gnome-shell:/etc/xdg XDG_DATA_DIRS=/usr/share/gnome-shell:/usr/share/gnome:/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/ XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME This is certainly not exhaustive but that's what I was able to discover about this a2) why is evince trying to chmod it? I don't know the internal reasons of evince but this operation is always done even when it is launched from the command without opening a pdf file directly. I made an strace of evince launch from commnad line, a simple evince, and these are the interesting lines: ... recvmsg(11, 0x7fff3dbbb490, MSG_CMSG_CLOEXEC) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable) eventfd2(0, O_NONBLOCK|O_CLOEXEC) = 12 write(12, "\1\0\0\0\0\0\0\0", 8)= 8 fstat(11, {st_mode=S_IFSOCK|0777, st_size=0, ...}) = 0 fcntl(11, F_GETFL) = 0x802 (flags O_RDWR|O_NONBLOCK) write(4, "\1\0\0\0\0\0\0\0", 8) = 8 brk(0x7f6836ff) = 0x7f6836ff brk(0x7f6836fef000) = 0x7f6836fef000 sendmsg(11, {msg_name(0)=NULL, msg_iov(2)=[{"l\1\1\1Y\0\0\0\2\0\0\0\177\0\0\0\1\1o\0\25\0\0\0/org/fre"..., 144}, {"T\0\0\0type='signal', interface='or"..., 89}], msg_controllen=0, msg_flags=0}, MSG_NOSIGNAL) = 233 sendmsg(11, {msg_name(0)=NULL, msg_iov(2)=[{"l\1\1\1d\0\0\0\3\0\0\0\177\0\0\0\1\1o\0\25\0\0\0/org/fre"..., 144}, {"_\0\0\0type='signal', interface='or"..., 100}], msg_controllen=0, msg_flags=0}, MSG_NOSIGNAL) = 244 sendmsg(11, {msg_name(0)=NULL, msg_iov(2)=[{"l\1\0\0010\0\0\0\4\0\0\0\202\0\0\0\1\1o\0\37\0\0\0/org/a11"..., 152}, {"\5\0\0\0:1.38\0\0\0\37\0\0\0/org/a11y/atspi/"..., 48}], msg_controllen=0, msg_flags=0}, MSG_NOSIGNAL) = 200 * mkdir("/tmp/at-spi2/", 01777) = -1 EEXIST (File exists) * chmod("/tmp/at-spi2/", 01777) = -1 EACCES (Permission denied) socket(PF_FILE, SOCK_STREAM|SOCK_CLOEXEC, 0) = 13 * stat("/tmp/at-spi2/socket-4587-1804289383", 0x7fff3dbbb550) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) setsockopt(13, SOL_SOCKET, SO_REUSEADDR, [1], 4) = 0 * bind(13, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path="/tmp/at-spi2/socket-4587-1804289383"}, 37) = 0 listen(13, 30) = 0 fcntl(13, F_GETFL) = 0x2 (flags O_RDWR) fcntl(13, F_SETFL, O_RDWR|O_NONBLOCK) = 0 * chmod("/tmp/at-spi2/socket-4587-1804289383", 0777) = 0 open("/dev/urandom", O_RDONLY) = 14 read(14, "\320\262\323\266\243\246\206\214\331G\v\330", 12) = 12 close(14) = 0 fstat(13, {st_mode=S_IFSOCK|0777, st_size=0, ...}) = 0 fcntl(13, F_GETFL) = 0x802 (flags O_RDWR|O_NONBLOCK) write(4, "\1\0\0\0\0\0\0\0", 8) = 8 openat(AT_FDCWD, "/usr/lib/evince/4/backends", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_DIRECTORY|O_CLOEXEC) = 14 getdents(14, /* 14 entries */, 32768) = 584 open("/usr/lib/evince/4/backends/dvidocument.evince-backend", O_RDONLY) = 15 ... only five lines marked with '*' contain a reference to /tmp/at-spi2 folder That's all for now. [Bug 1279272] Re: apparmor denies evince a chmod operation
Hi, recently I modified telepathy profile because I moved (link through ln) some home folder to Private folder, but the problem was present before that change. The notify came to desktop after additional packages installed by: apt-get install apparmor-utils apparmor-profiles apparmor-notify But from system log the problem was already present but it was not displayed. [Bug 962369] Re: Cannot set Device name (hostname) under Details section in System Settings on 12.04
Appending the content of Bug #1190048 here, ignore me if its not useful 1. I expected there's a pre-installed GUI utility in Ubuntu to change hostname. 2. I expected it appears in GNOME Control Center(a.k.a. System Settings) -> Details -> "Device name" textbox * In fact there's really a "textbox" at the location but is not editable and there's no "Unlock" button at that view. 3. I expected if I run GNOME Control Center as root (gksudo gnome-control-center) I can change my hostname * In fact when GNOME Control Center run as root, the "textbox" really turn's into editable, but edit the content still won't apply to the system temporarily nor permanently. 4. [Bug 1168467] Re: "phy0 -> rt2800pci_mcu_status: Error" AND "[drm:gen6_sanitize_pm] *ERROR*"
Hi, I am new to launchpad so excuse me if the comment is inappropriate. with the updated version of ubuntu have the same problem, I mean the error: [drm:gen6_sanitize_pm] *ERROR* Power management discrepancy: GEN6_RP_INTERRUPT_LIMITS expected 000d, was 1a0d The system ralely freeze, no cursor movement and no way to unlock x, the only way is an hard reboot (power off + power on) I was unable to connect to a specific package and even if the error is the cause of the malfunction. My question is it is possible to work around this issue 'remaining in the world ubuntu12.04' without trying out other package? [Bug 613826] Re: cursor disappear after screen saver locks screen
I had the same bug in 10.04.1 but from today on the behavior changed to the worse. Now when the screensaver is stopped by entering the password for the first time, it starts again just after the desktop reappears. The second time it is finished but I loose keyboard focus to the whole desktop. + does not work anymore, Switching the workspace by keyboard does not work anymore. I have to either switch the application or the workspace with the mouse and everything is fine again. The behavior is independent of how the screensaver was started - time or shortcut. The behavior is independent of the application. But since it does not affect the mouse focus, one might not realize the bug e.g. in the browser immediately. Since it started today, I can clearly describe the changes to my system: Start-Date: 2010-08-24 12:24:42 Upgrade: python-lazr.restfulclient (0.9.11-1ubuntu1, 0.9.11-1ubuntu1.1), libvlc2 (1.0.6-1ubuntu1.1, 1.0.6-1ubuntu1.2), udev (151-12, 151-12.1), vlc-nox (1.0.6-1ubuntu1.1, 1.0.6-1ubuntu1.2), libgudev-1.0-0 (151-12, 151-12.1), vlc (1.0.6-1ubuntu1.1, 1.0.6-1ubuntu1.2), libudev0 (151-12, 151-12.1), vlc-plugin-pulse (1.0.6-1ubuntu1.1, 1.0.6-1ubuntu1.2), vlc-data (1.0.6-1ubuntu1.1, 1.0.6-1ubuntu1.2), libvlccore2 (1.0.6-1ubuntu1.1, 1.0.6-1ubuntu1.2), binutils (2.20.1-3ubuntu6, 2.20.1-3ubuntu7), inkscape (0.47.0-2ubuntu2, 0.48.0-0ubuntu1~10.04~ricotz1) End-Date: 2010-08-24 12:25:45 After that a reboot and everything started to act much weirder than usual. -- cursor disappear after screen saver locks screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/613826 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 518230] Re: Some PDF forms don't save entered information
Donald Henry wrote on 2010-04-14 My IRS Form 1040A appeared as a print preview of the actual document to send to the IRS. But neither printing it nor saving it on my computer and printer cannot be done. I already know that printing to paper and to file cannot be done from previous experience. So, once this problem report is complete and sent the developers, I will attempt to troubleshoot that issue using a technique sent to me by a Ubuntu volunteer (engineer?). External to this issue is that the IRS electronic forms program known as FreeFile produced by a contractor has yet to reveal to me how to e-file my completed tax return to the IRS. It seems to me that completing a simple tax return by pen on a paper IRS form and mailing it via USPS is a lot easier than doing it via computer and electronic filing over telecommunications lines. A lesson here for all of us is that using a computer to prepare and print/save/file/send anything one time takes much longer to learn and perform than doing it by pre-computer hand method. Tax return programs, for example, are only useful for persons who have no arithmetic ability and/or have a need for the program to interpret the tax code and fill in a space on a form for an uneducated taxpayer. That is not an issue with Linux Ubuntu, I will admit, but I am spending a lot of time using this platform after recently have been persuaded that Linux Ubuntu is better that Windows XP.
