[Bug 37311] Re: wnck-applet memory leak
I've seen 3 issues caused by a configuration set by kcontrol about prefered theme for GTK-applications: - memory leak in wnck-applet causing memory taken by Xorg to increase slowly and without any release - a refresh problem of icons buttons and menu entries in the openoffice.org-gnome integration (note this removing this package solves the problem) - ALT+F2 key combination don't work Once I set "simple" instead of "QT" in prefered theme for GTK-applications, all these issues gone away. I've removed kde so I don't know which configuration file was modified by kcontrol. -- wnck-applet memory leak https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/37311 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 37311] Re: wnck-applet memory leak
And it solved another problem: I can now use the Alt+F2 key combination to launch an application... I'm suprised it's related to this. -- wnck-applet memory leak https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/37311 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 37311] Re: wnck-applet memory leak
BTW, this solved another bug I had with the OpenOffice2 Gnome Integration (refresh problem of icons and menu entries). I haven't found this bug in this tracker but the kcontrol solution solves it. -- wnck-applet memory leak https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/37311 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 37311] Re: wnck-applet memory leak
Great, many thx ! It works for me too :-D Indeed I have a KDE installed but I didn't used it since some days. How KDE can have such a control on GTK-applications even when not launched ? BTW, I don't use kdm, I use gdm. -- wnck-applet memory leak https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/37311 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 37311] Re: wnck-applet memory leak
Indeed, you may be right. Maybe the window list applet is the one which sends the more pixmap data to wnck-applet. -- wnck-applet memory leak https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/37311 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 37311] Re: wnck-applet memory leak
I agree. But I confirm I'm really sure it comes from the window list applet. Since I've stopped it, the memory increase has stopped. All other applets are running without memory problem. -- wnck-applet memory leak https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/37311 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 37311] Re: wnck-applet memory leak
Ok, I think it's the "windows list applet" (I don't know the exact English name) which causes this. If I remove only it, the memory stops to increase. Once launched, the memory increases slowly. If I switch between workspaces several times, quickly, then the memory taken by Xorg grows very quickly ! -- wnck-applet memory leak https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/37311 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 37311] Re: wnck-applet memory leak
I don't have any libsvg nor libsvg-cairo libs installed. I already have tried without my particular applets launched (CPU freq, CPU temp, system monitoring and battery loading) but the memory still increases with time. Applets remaining are sound control, date and working spaces, I could try without them too. -- wnck-applet memory leak https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/37311 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I'm NOT using XGL, compiz and friends. I'm using ATI fglrx-6.9.0-8.23.7+2.6.15.7-3 drivers.
