Selected/Corrupted text with evince 3.10.3 (Ubuntu 14.04)

I'm not convinced this bug is fixed; see the attachment images from my
evince 3.10.3 in Ubuntu 14.04.

Or is this a different issue?

[Bug 585592] Re: Bluetooth PIN always random

2012-05-21 Thread nh2
Using Ubuntu 12.04.

This is hilarious. You connect a device that doesn't even have keys
(e.g. a wireless touchpad), bluetooth-wizard tells you that it it is a
Tablet but if you use automatic pin, it still tells you to enter a
six-digit number into the *touchpad*. It should know better.

Then you select use , click next, what do you get? Enter 518421
at the other device. :(

Then you select use custom pin, enter yourself, click next.
Enter 518421 at the other device.. It just doesn't care what the user
wants.

Where is the upstream place to report this? It has been here for years
and it is really time for it to go away.

[Bug 648381] [NEW] Metacity sometimes forgets to redraw window title

2010-09-26 Thread nh2
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: metacity

Programs with GTK tabs, e.g. gedit or gnome-terminal, often set the window
decoration title equal to the title of the tab.
If you switch tabs, the title changes, too.

In Ubuntu 10.10, metacity sometimes forgets to update the title on tab switch.
However, the title is redrawn correctly if the decoration is redrawn, e.g. on
window maximize.

To reproduce:
Open gedit, click the New empty document button so that you have two tabs.
Use the mouse to switch between them and have a look at the title. After some
times, the title is not updated. Maximize gedit and the right title is there.

Ubuntu 10.10, Intel graphics i915, Compiz on.

Please everyone, test this on your system to see if this is a regression
with Intel drivers, Metacity, Compiz or whatever.

[Bug 600449] Re: New and added Jabber accounts are insecure by default

2010-08-18 Thread nh2
Reopening this bug as this is super insecure.

Imagine a user who does not even know what SSL/TLS is. He/She _will_
leave the default as is. He/She will use just the same password as for
his/her e-mail, social networking, or online payment account with high
probability.

Empathy does not even notify the user that his sensitive data might be
read by anyone in the network. This should be not the default setting
for the default messaging client.

I strongly suggest to turn Encryption required on as default and in
case the server does not support that, open a This will send you
password unencrypted - do you really want to continue message box.

[Bug 575506] [NEW] Two-sided printing with non-duplex printer does not work well in Ubuntu

2010-05-04 Thread nh2
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
Use your non-duplex inkjet printer to print some pages in duplex mode, e.g. a
PDF from Evince.

Expected behaviour:
Your printer prints every second page and after half the job is done, a message
is shown that tells you to put the paper back into the printer the other way
around and then click a button.

What actually happens:
Your printer prints all pages, every second one rotated by 180 degrees.

[Bug 508027] [NEW] gvfsd-metadata can segfault

2010-01-15 Thread nh2
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs

When there is an error in some system components, gvfsd-metadata can segfault.
You can see one example in my dmesg. In my case, it segfaults after a WiFi
problem.
See also
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/88746/comments/561
(segfault after USB problem),
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/459978 (another WiFi
problem), and also
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/496187
. Most of these bugs have detailed system information attached.

Of course if there is a problem, gvfsd may have an error, but I don't
think this justifies a segmentation fault. There must be a common
problem the mentioned bugs share when gvfsd does not notice or handle an
error correctly.

[Bug 499869] [NEW] Nautilus does not give focus to Eye of Gnome using Compiz

2009-12-23 Thread nh2
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

If I double-click on a JPG image in Nautilus, Eye of Gnome opens to show that
image. However, if I press Alt-F4 then, Nautilus closes instead of EoG although
it is behind EoG.
Compiz and Maximus enabled on Ubuntu Karmic.
EoG is pulsating in my task bar and I don't have the issue if I have Compiz
disabled, so it might be related to Compiz' focus stealing prevention.

[Bug 432774] [NEW] Brightness change with notification is very slow

2009-09-18 Thread nh2
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Using the latest Karmic Alpha on an Atom-based Netbook (Latitude 2100).

I can change display brightness with FN+Up/Down keys.
However, I cannot change brightness rapidly. The brightness notification in the
left upper corner is updated with a delay of ~ 1 second, and pressing
brightness during that time period does not change anything.
If I press very fast, the display goes up/down a brightness level for some
milliseconds, but directly returns to the original state.

Consequently, if I want to change brightness from fully dark to fully
illuminated, I have to press, wait a second, press, wait a second, ...
and so on.

During the different Karmic Alphas, there was a short period
(unfortunately, I don't remember the date) when the Ubuntu notifications
were not used for brightness, but rather those brightness notifications
with a sun in the middle of the display we know from Intrepid. The bug
was not there then, I could switch brightness without delay; so it
_might_ be caused from the notifications but this is only an assumption.

Any clues / things I should try to find the component causing this
problem?

[Bug 301174] Re: Use proper sound event instead of system beep

2009-08-26 Thread nh2
I experience the same as travis does. Ticking various options on/off
does not help for me.

[Bug 295408] Re: nautilus expanding the first visible folder after using keyboard to select a file

2009-06-17 Thread nh2
Please, can anyone clarify if this bug is a duplicate of Bug 49567?
If so, we'll have to add gtk+ 2.0 to #49567 as we did in this bug.

Until a fix is released, some might also prefer TAB, especially those
who like bash completion.

[Bug 323631] Re: Opening the wrong folder.

2009-04-13 Thread nh2
Confirmed on 8.10, confirmed on 9.04 Beta. _This is annoying._
It works in 8.04.

I suppose this bug is not only nautilus but GTK-related. To reproduce:
Open gtk-demo (from package gtk2.0-examples) and open the Tree View - Tree
Store demo. Click into the list, type in 'a', click again and February
collapses.

Regression: GTK used in Hardy: 2.12.9 - it worked.

[Bug 49567] Re: list view doesn't expand subfolder when clicking on arrow if entry is selected

2009-04-12 Thread nh2
Confirmed in Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04.

This is _extremely_ annoying if you want to navigate quitckly in your
files. You found that folder by search that folder and you just cannot
enter it; on click, everything moves down because the first directory is
expanded.

I think this bug can be fixed easily by not expanding the old active
column (no idea why this is the first one) but just that column we
clicked the arrow in.

[Bug 222532] Re: Option to connect to secure webdav network locations missing in nautilus

2009-04-04 Thread nh2
Confirmed, menu item is there in Intrepid.

I get the same error as Mark Edington. When connecting to non-anonymous
dav(s)://, either via Nautilus location line or via Connect to server dialog,
but ONLY if providing a username in the first step (so using
dav://usern...@... or filling in the username field in the Connect to
server dialog box, Moved Permanently pops up.
I found out this only happens when connecting to a sub-directory.

This bug is known: #227852, it was filed for Hardy but now it seems to
be back (or still not fixed).

Please try to connect to the WebDAV webdavtest.nh2.me and also to
webdavtest.nh2.me/webdavtest via dialog or dav:// link. Both are mapped
to the same directory, but only the first one will work. And please take
some seconds to report your experience to Bug 227852.

[Bug 227852] Re: Nautilus get error when I try to open webdav directories

2009-04-04 Thread nh2
As we found out in Bug 222532, this is still happening in Intrepid.

It ONLY happens when connection to a sub-directory.

Please try to connect to the WebDAV webdavtest.nh2.me and also to
webdavtest.nh2.me/webdavtest via dialog or dav:// link. Both are mapped
to the same directory, but only the first one will work, the other one
will throw the Moved Permanently error.

[Bug 349515] [NEW] Applications use the system bell beep for alerts

2009-03-27 Thread nh2
Public bug reported:

This is a refile of Bug #280625
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/280625).

I do not know which part of GTK is causing the problem, so I file it
against the gtk-demo application (package gtk2.0-examples).

To reproduce:
Open gtk-demo, open the Assistant demo and type a backspace into the text
box. The internal PC speaker (also known as beep) rings instead of the
expected Ubuntu notification sound configured in the sound settings.

This bug affects many applications (all that use GTK) such as Firefox
(-search) Thunderbird(-new email), instant messengers and so on.
