[Bug 2003844] [NEW] Screensharing from my browser (Firefox snap) freezes the display requiring a hard reboot
Public bug reported: In the firefox snap (although I'm not convinced it is specific to the firefox snap) when in a google meets session, I choose to share either my screen or a specific browser tab. In ~40% of instances this results in a complete visual freeze of my system with no interactivity. Audio / Microphone / Webcam /keyboard are still functional during this time. But I need to hard restart to be able to interact with my system again. This happens more often the longer my system has been running and is pretty much guaranteed to happen once a day if I am presenting multiple times. For reference I have two monitors: A UHD Monitor 1440p (60HZ) and a high refresh (144HZ) 1080p Monitor, both have scaling set to 100%. It does not seem to matter which screen I'm presenting to the other. I have attached the journalctl of my previous boot. [Bug 1969959] Re: [nouveau][amdgpu] Weird colors after startup (Ubuntu 22.04)
Hi all! I've installed Ubuntu 22.04 for real and using the proprietary driver in fact solves the screen issue. [Bug 1771880] Re: Seahorse unable to import pkcs12 certificates
The keys I was trying to import into Seahorse were located in an encrypted container (mounted, obviously). As I cannot influence (or haven't learned how to influence) the standard file modes when mounting said container, they all had 0700 as file mode, including the .pub files I had generated based on that AskUbuntu answer. Once I copied them over to ~/.ssh they popped up immediately in Seahorse. So it's definitely not the file format that is/was the issue here. Either it's the file mode, a certain expectation of what it ought to be or it's the fact that the keys I was trying to import weren't in ~/.ssh; or something else altogether?! ... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1771880 Title: Seahorse unable to import pkcs12 certificates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/seahorse/+bug/1771880/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1771880] Re: Seahorse unable to import pkcs12 certificates
Fascinating, I am seeing this exact same issue with SSH keys. When using ssh-add these keys will load into the agent without a problem, but I cannot import them into Seahorse. The files have been generated with OpenSSH, but their file names aren't following the standard id_ and id_.pub pattern ... I also followed the advice from that AskUbuntu answer to generate accompanying .pub files, but that didn't work either. Seahorse also outright refused to import the id_ed25519, whereas the id_rsa worked previously. This seems at least inconsistent. [Bug 1758109] [NEW] Gnome-Shell Memory Leak
Public bug reported: Hi, I searched the bugs but couldn't find anything referring to a memory leak so I figured I open a new one and you just reassign it. I’m referring to this article here: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2018/03 /gnome-shell-has-a-memory-leak-and-it-might-not-be-fixed-for- ubuntu-18-04-lts And the question I asked yesterday here: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/667051 So, the main problem is that the gnome-shell has this memory leak and together with Hyper-V dynamic memory it can eat up all the host’s (!) memory. I have seen this happen in 17.04 and 17.10. Both x64. Let me know if you need anything and I will take care of it. [Bug 1021375] Re: Nautilus says the USB stick is read only when it is not
I had the exact same problem as described but I am using Arch Linux. I made a simple uninstall with pacman -Rcsn. I know this isn't the same command for ubuntu but just use apt-get autoremove and make sure to add the option that also removes all configuration files. Some times some files are still there. In my case it was in my home folder under .config/nautilus and .local/nautilus both for my user and root. To be sure you have deleted everything I suggest using the command: "find|grep nautilus" under both root and your home to make sure all files are deleted. After that I installed nautilus again. Maybe make a full restart before but I didn't have to. Describe the exact situation: does it fail with local ts-files? or only on network shares (samba)? Are the files encrypted or playable with your videoplayer? Do you use Nautilus or another file browser? Add version numbers of everything, ect... And leave a comment here with a link to your new bug report to help affected people follow you. To solve it yourself try my final patch from comment #20. I just checked my Linux Mint 17.1 which is based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS: its file browser Nemo (= Nautilus clone) does recognize my ts-files correctly as MPEG-2 transport stream, locally and remote through NFS. I have no samba network shares. My ts-files were recorded by my settop- box and are not encrypted. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to shared-mime-info in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/502642 Title: .ts files always get recognized as application/x-linguist and never as video/mp2t (mpeg transport stream) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/shared-mime-info/+bug/502642/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1387747] [NEW] No longer asks for passphrase, no access to private key
Public bug reported: I'm using Thunderbird with Enigmail on Trusty in KDE. I've set /usr/bin/gpg (i.e., GPG 1, not GPG 2) as GPG path in Enigmail. My GPG key is stored on a YubiKey Neo. This has worked fine until yesterday. Yesterday, after the following update: gnome-keyring:amd64 3.10.1-1ubuntu4 - 3.10.1-1ubuntu4.1 … Thunderbird/Enigmail no longer asks me for me passphrase when I open an encrypted e-mail or when I try to sign an e-mail. Instead, I directly see the error message no private key available. A downgrade to 3.10.1-1ubuntu4 and a reboot solves the problem. Updating again to 3.10.1-1ubuntu4.1 makes the problem appear again. There also have been a kernel update and an update of libykpers. Those do nott seem to have caused the problem: Downgrading them (or booting the older kernel) does not solve the problem. Only the downgrade of gnome-keyring solves it. ** Affects: gnome-keyring (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - No longer asks for passphrase + No longer asks for passphrase, no access to private key -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1387747 Title: No longer asks for passphrase, no access to private key To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/1387747/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1165590] Re: Unable to adjust backlight brightness after upgrade to raring - Asus UX32VD
Been using 14.04 for a few days, maybe 2 weeks now, and initially it worked fine. After suspending for a day today however (no updates installed) gsd- backlight-helper now targets acpi_video0 instead of intel_backlight which results in not functinoal backlight. /usr/bin/intel_backlight works as before, but I'd expect that gsd-backlight-helper would use some smarts to pick a backlight or atleast allow it to be configurable? Long story short, gsd-backlight-helper seems to not consistently pick the correct backlight. Or acpi_video0 isn't linked to intel_backlight? [Bug 1299784] [NEW] Alt+F2 run dialog not available any more
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 14.04 beta with Gnome Flashback session with Metacity, the Alt+F2 keyboard shortcut doesn't work anymore. Previously it could be used to open a small Run dialog. Also, in Ubuntu 12.04 this could be configured in System Settings - Keyboard - Shortcuts - System - Den Befehl ausführen-Dialog anzeigen (German for show the Execute Command dialog). This is no longer possible; the System category doesn't show any such item any more in 14.04. I would expect that ideally the Alt-F2 shortcut works out of the box when starting the Gnome Flashback (Metacity) session, or that it at least can be enabled/configured manually. [Bug 1299836] [NEW] Alt+mouse move doesn't drag window any more
Public bug reported: Under Ubuntu 14.04 beta, in Gnome Flashback Session with Metacity, the Alt hotkey doesn't work anymore for moving windows. In Ubuntu 12.04 pressing Alt key and clicking into a window could be used to move the window; this doesn't work anymore. The shortcut key can be changed away from Alt to Super (Windows) key, eg. using gnome-tweak-tool (Window - Window Action Key). Interestingly, when configuring Super key, it actually works when pressing the Super key; but when configuring the Alt key it doesn't work. The key can also be changed directly in dconf-editor, under org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences.mouse-button-modifier. This allows to set other keys than Alt and Super; and eg. configuring Ctrl actually makes the Control key usable as Window Action Key; but again when configuring Alt the Alt key cannot be used for window movement. This also affects the other actions available via the window action key (window resizing, and opening window context menu). This is with Ubuntu 14.04 beta (x86_64), in Virtualbox, with metacity 1:2.34.13-0ubuntu4. ** Affects: metacity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1299836 Title: Alt+mouse move doesn't drag window any more To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/1299836/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1299784] Re: Alt+F2 run dialog not available any more
Found the dconf setting which makes this available again (org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings.panel-run-dialog). For some reason it was set to ['disabled'] on my test system - no idea why.
