That solved the problem, but... shouldn't the automatic timezone option
be grayed out or warn about it not working when Location Services is
turned off?

[Bug 1741928] [NEW] Automatic time zone not working

2018-01-08 Thread shankao
Public bug reported:

I have just arrived to Singapore from Spain, and the automatic time zone
setting in gnome shell is not having any effect.
I will keep it as is for 1 or 2 days before forcing it manually, but it'd be
nice for an advertised feature to work

[Bug 1712244] [NEW] Default Window Action Key changed from Alt to Super

2017-08-21 Thread shankao
Public bug reported:

Until the last upgrade, the "Window Action Key" in Ubuntu used to be Alt
instead of Super.

Although Super is the one used in vanilla gnome-shell, other specific
ubuntu keyboard shortcuts have being maintained, even after the
migration. Should this one be kept as the Alt key to keep the previous
behavior?

2017-07-19 Thread shankao
You were right, thanks. That was the problem, although I have no idea
how it ended like that.

Shouldn't be a good thing that, when in that mode, there's some visual
indication of it? Maybe a text in the corner that says "Your in zoom
mode. Press Super+Alt+8 to exit"? Also, should ever the desktop start in
that mode?

[Bug 444189] Re: "File > Connect to server" should be "Go > Connect to server"

2017-02-09 Thread shankao
Pasting here the answer in the upstream bug report:

"I don't agree with the initial request (since Connect to Server is an
application-level action, not a window-level one), but this is obsolete
anyway now that we moved it to the application menu."

So, if I'm not mistaken, this bug report is obsolete against current
nautilus and can be changed to "Invalid". Please comment here if it
needs to be reopened.

[Bug 1395880] Re: System crashes (freezes) when I try to access the content of the /proc directory using nautilus

2017-02-09 Thread shankao
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since
that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some
of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently
supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly
upload the updated logs by running only once:
apport-collect 1395880

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

You need to have the IRC plugin installed.

Asked for the roomlist for freenode and navigated around the list a bit,
click on one of the rooms, navigate again... nothing unusual.

I get this in dmesg too:

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at

bug as a bug in gnome-power-manager.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-

functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 1005733] [NEW] Folder path breadcrumbs don't show when there's a folder with a long name

2012-05-28 Thread shankao
Public bug reported:

1. Open nautilus. The standard window size should be ok. Don't maximize
it.

2. Create a new folder in nautilus with a long enough name. i.e. "lskjfd
slkf jksdjf lkdsa jflksajd flkjsad lkfj sadlkj lkfj ldaks jflksajd lfsa
jdlkfjsaldf jsakdj lkfsa jdlksajf lkdjf lkasjd fkajs dsafd"

3. Enter in the new created folder.

4. See the folder breadcrumbs disappear.

Instead, the folder name should adjust for very long ones to something
like

"this is a very long folder name" -> "this is a very l..."

or provide some clickable arrows to displace it.

+ enter my password, it makes some screen resolution switches and then
returns again to the password screen.

A hint: the last thing I made was installing the program "AcetoneISO".
This installs the suspicious gnupg-agent and gnupg2 as well.

The workaround: so I just changed to tty1 and removed acetoneISO with
the help of aptitude. Changed to gdm and still can't login. Realised
that the gnupg packages were not removed with acetone, so I removed them

Probably something is wrong with those packages, but gdm should not be

After trying to set up compiz working from the Appearance dialog, and

As side info, the bug that was preventing my computer to use compiz was

[Bug 558459] [NEW] Nautilus keeps saying a program opened with wine is not marked as executable even after having marked it

2010-04-08 Thread shankao
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When I try to open some programs with wine (right click + open with
wine), nautilus claims that it is not marked as executable.

After having marked it as such - right click on file, properties,

execute the file with wine, nautilus keeps saying that the file is not
marked as executable.

[Bug 513832] Re: Display preferences misidentifies LG external monitor max. resolution

Yes, as I said in the bug description, the monitor identification is also
wrong.
It should be an LG Flatron L1918S model instead.

[Bug 513832] [NEW] Display preferences misidentifies LG external monitor max. resolution

2010-01-28 Thread shankao
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I can't select the maximum resolution of 1280x1024 in my external
monitor. Display preferences only shows options up to 1024x768px.

Also, the external monitor is incorrectly shown as "Goldstar Company
Ltd" instead of LG.

[Bug 505571] Re: File ordering should be case-insensitive

2010-01-11 Thread shankao
Oops! It seems that for some reason my locales have fallen back to
default. This can be another kind of bug (I've just seen some recent
locale errors in lucid are happening), so I can't say if the nautilus
ordering works otherwise. We can keep the error in incomplete status if
someone else can verify this behaviour.

[Bug 479940] Re: Open link feature opens wrong URLs (extra less than sign at the end)

2009-11-21 Thread shankao
Here it is. It seems like I have found an error in the screenshot
application in the process, cause that black band always show when I try
to do it. Will report it also :)

For the current error, I think that the code searching for URL's under
the cursor is broken (regexp?). Only a supposition anyway.

[Bug 369095] [NEW] Prompt is deleted when I press backspace in terminal

2009-04-29 Thread shankao
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

Having two keyboard layouts installed, greek and spanish:

1. Using the spanish layout, open terminal
2. Change to greek layout (I use to do it by a key combo)
3. Write something
4. Delete with backspace

Expected: Delete all characters up to the prompt
Result: The prompt line also gets deleted.
