[Bug 312795] Re: when opening a "*. wmv" file in Totem Movie Player the sound worked but not the video
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in totem. For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are having an issue. You can learn more about this feature at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. By the way: The "page not found" bug is known, see bug 310016. You can click on that page the "This bug affects me" button. Thanks. ** Changed in: totem (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None => totem -- when opening a "*. wmv" file in Totem Movie Player the sound worked but not the video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312795 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better, but unfortunately I've been unable to reproduce with the video you provided. I launched it via Totem, and the video and audio played as expected. You might need to check to make sure you have the latest GStreamer ffmpeg video plugin installed. Can you check that by running the following in a terminal: sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg ** Changed in: totem (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- when opening a "*. wmv" file in Totem Movie Player the sound worked but not the video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312795 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

On this same computer your are having this problem on, can you reproduce this issue with an Ubuntu LIVE CD and report back in the problem still exists? When you launch the video file, Totem should tell you that it needs to update the correct codecs, and after allowing this to happen you should be able to view the video file. ** Changed in: totem (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- when opening a "*. wmv" file in Totem Movie Player the sound worked but not the video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312795 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 312795] Re: when opening a "*. wmv" file in Totem Movie Player the sound worked but not the video
Hi, I typed the command in the terminal and it said "gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg is already the newest version". Would it be a problem specific to my computer or is something in my Ubuntu setup that is not quite kosher? Re: [Bug 312795] Re: when opening a "*. wmv" file in Totem Movie Player the sound worked but not the video
Hi, I typed the command in the terminal and it said "gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg is already the newest version". Would it be a problem specific to my computer or is something in my Ubuntu setup that is not quite kosher? I launched it via Totem, and the video and audio played as expected. You might need to check to make sure you have the latest GStreamer ffmpeg video plugin installed. Can you check that by running the following in a terminal: sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg ** Changed in: totem (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- when opening a "*. wmv" file in Totem Movie Player the sound worked but not the video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312795 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug.
