[Bug 39069] Re: Adding Printer Fails with no Dialog
Hi all, I don't know if I am wrong, but this bug is titled Adding Printer Fails with no Dialog, but not Adding Printer Fails. Furthermore, this bug is filed against gnome-cups-manager, not cupsys --- so it is talking about the GUI, not the printing system backend. So it is complaining the fact that it fails silently, not the fact that it simply fails. Hence bug 39093 (and a few other bugs) should not be a duplicate of this one. -- Adding Printer Fails with no Dialog https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/39069 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 39069] Re: Adding Printer Fails with no Dialog
Adding a printer should not fail, period. Yes, this bug should probably be filed against cupsys, but either way, the issue should be fixed now for everyone. I just updated and tried to add my printer, and it works. The update was definitely in cupsys. We don't need duplicate bugs that have the same root cause. ** Changed in: gnome-cups-manager (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: gnome-cups-manager = cupsys -- Adding Printer Fails with no Dialog https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/39069 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 39069] Re: Adding Printer Fails with no Dialog
Suppose today a patch goes into cupsys and now most people can add a printer. Do you mark this bug fixed? How about if I add a specific printer which really fails, and gnome-cups-manager fails silently again? These are 2 problems, hence 2 bugs, and for 2 separate packages. -- Adding Printer Fails with no Dialog https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/39069 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 39069] Re: [Bug 39069] Re: Adding Printer Fails with no Dialog
After an update this morning, I'm able to add a printer. I know the bug descriptor wasn't the best, but unless you digg pretty deeply into cups, I'm not aware of any other way to add a printer (the web interface has always been locked down in ubuntu), so the fact that gnome-cups-add was failing should be read as Average-Joe can't add a printer, and gets no error messege! Either way I guess this bug can be closed... -- Adding Printer Fails with no Dialog https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/39069 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
