This seems quite strange: I've built the patch both for metacity in Maverick and in Natty (that I'm running through VirtualBox BTW) and I never saw that issue... It sounds quite strange to me since the title should be over the metacity bar (that is colored before and below it). I don't know how to test for fixing it :(.
