Public bug reported:

When I try to install the driver for the Sharp AL 1552 laser printer the

[Bug 696902] Re: gnome-sessions new .desktop files missing from POTFILES.in

2011-01-03 Thread Didier Roche
First, thanks for your bug report and your patch to help to make ubuntu better.
I've already fixed it in the ubuntu-desktop team packaging branch as you can
see there:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-desktop/gnome-session/ubuntu/revision/98

Only the gnome-classic.desktop.in file needs to be translated. The other
files are gnome-session internal and there is no string to translate
then.

I'll then mark the bug as fix commited.

[Bug 580206] Re: gnome-help crashed (segmentation fault) while printing

2011-01-03 Thread Cesare Mastroianni
Ok. I installed Maverick, and now the situation has became even worst.

Help program crashes during its startup. The main windows tries to open,
but after a while it crashes (without displaying nothing).

My previous complaint was about the procedure
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures which its almost tricky for
a normal user. I mean: I spent a lot of time trying to get a good bug
report. However it was not possible (see comments above #11, #12 and
#13.

Now I upgraded to Maverick. I followed again the procedure at wiki
pages.

The command bash list-symbols-packages-v2.sh -p $(pidof -s yelp) is
not usable: yelp never runs: it crashes always at startup. See attached
file yelp-logmessages.txt for the messages issued by yelp to command
line.

Therefore I tried list-dbgsym-packages-v2.sh /usr/bin/yelp. It doesn't
work. Its output was unuseful (see attached file list-dbgsym-
packages-v2.sh-output.txt

So far I was not sure to have all the tools ok for the debugging.
However I tried to go on with wiki instructions.

Obviously I was not able to attach a gdb session to the running yelp
program, because the yelp program never runs: it crashes in a while.
Therefore I tried to run yelp from inside gdb, even if this approach
is not described into the wiki pages (and please, remember English is
not my language).

Incredible to say, yelp doesn't crashes if run inside gdb. It works,
until I try to print. When I try to print, it crashes.

Please, now see attached file yelp-gdb-log.txt where You see again the
crash info.

Many thanks so far. (Please, consider that I'm now tracking some bugs
I crashed on my computer. I subscribed launchpad for this purpose. This
bug seems that it is not seen but anybody else, isn't it?)

Ciao ... happy new year ...
CM

[Bug 696919] [NEW] client ssh configuration breaks nautilus sftp connection

2011-01-03 Thread Juan Moyano
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I use screen in my everyday work. As I want the screen title to
dynamically show the host I've sshed to I have added this lines to my
ssh config file:

LocalCommand echo -ne '\ek%n\e\\'

Unfortunately since I've made that change nautilus is not able to

[Bug 691037] [NEW] nvidia-settings window expands to extremely wide size, crashing metacity

2011-01-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In natty with nvidia-settings 260.19.21-0ubuntu2, clicking the 'X Server
Display Configuration' item makes the nvidia-settings window extremely
wide, and metacity crashes. Metacity won't restart without crashing
until nvidia-settings is closed. This doesn't appear to be a problem
with nvidia-settings itself as no update for it has been released for a
while now. Attached is a photo of my screens when it happens;
unfortunately I was unable take a real screenshot.

[Bug 691037] Re: nvidia-settings window expands to extremely wide size, crashing metacity

2011-01-03 Thread Bryce Harrington
The Gdk-ERROR message in comment #4 is just a standard error that's
printed when an X call fails in a gtk program, it doesn't actually
provide any diagnostic information.

The one issue that might be particular to nvidia-settings is why the
dialog window was so wide to begin with? Did it size itself to that, or
was it adjusted to that with manually? I assume the latter but if not,
that might be worth investigation as an nvidia-settings bug.

But regardless, metacity shouldn't be crashing in this case. I'll
refile against metacity for further analysis.

You might try seeing if you can reproduce the metacity crash with other
gtk programs when resized very wide. Also, you should run apport-
collect 691037 to add required debug info to the bug report.

[Bug 612796] Re: Evolution + Google Calendar timezone problem

2011-01-03 Thread Ashley Kleynhans
This issue seems to be more an issue where the client that sends the
meeting request is using the incorrect timezone.

I noticed that this was mostly happening when one specific colleague of
mine invited me to meetings, but it never happened when anyone else
invited me to meetings.

It turns out that my colleague was using Blackberry mobile phone, which
seemed to be the root cause of the issue.

When he sent meeting requests from his desktop PC, everything was fine
until he used his Blackberry.

[Bug 649912] Re: SD Card Reader shows Incomplete / Corrupt Files

2011-01-03 Thread pcxt
The same here on HP dv6-2180ey. The last kernel version card reader worked
normal was 2.6.33.7-maverick x86_64
The thing is, that on debian or fedora it does not work even on older kernels.

Reading the comments makes me think it will not work for you if you try it on
anything but the main file system of your server when you mount the main file

[Bug 680628] Re: Unable to print a document with evince, works correctly with Adobe Acrobat Reader

2011-01-03 Thread bruno
Updated packages for lucid haven't been released yet (to my knowledge),
so I would like to manually apply the patches. However, I'm not sure of
the exact files to use and how to use the patches. Can someone write
here the detailed procedure to manually solve this mess in lucid
(64-bits). I have downloaded the patches in post #11 and #15 (is it
correct) but don't know what to do after.

Thanks...

[Bug 697052] [NEW] movie skips randomly and automatically

2011-01-03 Thread Britany T.
Public bug reported:

I have Ubuntu 10.10. When playing a DVD, the movie skips forward and
backward at random intervals. It will not play a single chapter for more
than a couple minutes before skipping again. Sometimes the movie will
resume in the middle of a chapter as well. I only just got the Movie
Player to start working yesterday before this happened today.

After updating to Maverick tooltips are yellow again. They used to be
black in Lucid. What's up with that? Or is it just me?

[Bug 281797] Re: evolution unable to connect to pop server to receive mail

2011-01-03 Thread Marion
I am having this problem but if I enter my password for about 6 or 7
attempts, the mail finally starts to come through. It finishes
receiving some mail, the password box pops up again and the whole
process restarts.. enter password 6 times or more before more mail is
received. I have been using Evolution Mail for nearly 2 years now but
this problem has only been happening for about the past 3-4 months, in
fact I think since I upgraded to the latest Ubuntu. It has to be a
bug.. Nothing else has changed on my computer except this ongoing
problem with my mail.. Please fix it..

[Bug 697077] [NEW] Usability problem in Connect to Sever links in Places

2011-01-03 Thread mnederlanden
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When you use Connect to Server to add a ftp site to your Places bar;
you can't rename the connection. For those of us who maintain multiple
sites with the same login credentials, this means that we either can't
see which site we are connecting to or we have to have the Places
sidebar take up the majority of the file browser window. Yes, I know
that I could add a bookmark and rename that, but this is an awkward
solution. It's pretty redundant to have to add a bookmark to your
sidebar to a FTP location that's already in your sidebar because the
FTP's identifying information is hidden by the size of the sidebar. Not
a very elegant solution... Even if you can see the whole information, if
you are using grid servers, you have to connect with the IP address, and
if you have several of these it gets confusing very quickly. We should
just be able to name FTP locations.
