I think I've seen similar errors on other properties as well. This has a high probability of occurring when changing multiple tracks at once e.g. switching a property an entire album. However, even though it's more likely to succeed if done track-by-track, it still happens even then. I'm using Rhythmbox to maintain a collection of Ogg Vorbis audio files, and these properties, I believe, are kept within the actual music files (but that's a guess on my part). When the action fails, I get two message boxes from Rhythmbox, and as expected, the property does not get changed in the track file. *Error while saving song information* internal data stream error *Error while saving song information* Internal GStreamer problem; file a bug rhythmbox: Installed: 0.12.8-0ubuntu7 libgstreamer0.10-0: Installed: 0.10.28-1 I would expect to be able to change the property - there is no reason it should prevent me. directories by firefox and/or incorrect permissions on the cache.
I have not tested, but this bug probably affects all other mozilla

I am bitten by this bug with current firefox
(10.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.11.10.1) on 32-bit ubuntu oneiric for x86,
although the problem is also in earlier versions of firefox and almost
certainly affects any current ubuntu distribution.

To reproduce:
1. Start a ubuntu installation with only one user account on it
2. Go to, say, http://camendesign.com/code/video_for_everybody/test.html and
play all or part of the html5/webm video there.
3. Create a new user.
4. Log out and log in as the new user.
5. Try to play the video: it won't.
The patch I posted at
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=730656 corrects this
problem for me. It is caused by incorrect use of temporary cache
directories by firefox and/or incorrect permissions on the cache.
I have not tested, but this bug probably affects all other mozilla
products in ubuntu.

You have been subscribed to a public bug: Ubuntu 11.10 I have 4 users defined. One of the users has the admin privileges (able to sudo) and the rest are regular users. When logging in from a regular user, I am able to switch to a different user. When logging in from the admin user, after clicking the switch user, the screen goes black (as if in screen saver) and then when I move the mouse, the screen returns to a lock screen screen (where I need to put the password for the admin user). If I try then to press the switch user button, the same things happens. After entering the password, I see a pop up window on the desktop: Failed to unlock: The name org.gnome.DisplayManager was not provided by any .service files The only way to login as a different user is first log out as the admin, then login as a different user. I tried the following: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get --reinstall install ubuntu-desktop but the problem persists. Please let me know what other data you require and I'll attach it. If I try then to press the switch user button, the same things happens. After entering the password, I see a pop up window on the desktop: Failed to unlock: The name org.gnome.DisplayManager was not provided by any .service files The only way to login as a different user is first log out as the admin, then login as a different user. I tried the following: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get --reinstall install ubuntu-desktop but the problem persists. Please let me know what other data you require and I'll attach it.
