[Desktop-packages] [Bug 584147] Re: Bullet lists in package descriptions are not displayed correctly for PPA packages
The bug is not in in Software Center, the Package Description provided by Launchpad are wrong. The Description in the package itself is correct (bullets are indented by an extra space): wget -O- http://ppa.launchpad.net/stellarium/stellarium-testing/ubuntu/pool/main/s/stellarium/stellarium_0.10.6~bzr4813-0ubuntu1ppa1~maverick1_amd64.deb /tmp/foo.deb; dpkg -I /tmp/foo.deb The Description from Launchpad is wrong (bullets are indented by an extra space): wget -O- http://ppa.launchpad.net/stellarium/stellarium-testing/ubuntu/dists/maverick/main/binary-i386/Packages A more recent example: OK: wget -O /tmp/foo.deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/gedit-bc-dev-plugins/releases/ubuntu/pool/main/g/gedit-projects/gedit-projects_1.0_all.deb; dpkg -I /tmp/foo.deb Wrong: wget -O- http://ppa.launchpad.net/gedit-bc-dev-plugins/releases/ubuntu/dists/oneiric/main/binary-amd64/Packages Some software on Launchpad incorrectly strips spaces before bullet list. That confuses software that formats descriptions like Software Center and Aptitude. Synaptic is not affected because it does not format the description but display it as plain text. ** Also affects: launchpad Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to software-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/584147 Title: Bullet lists in package descriptions are not displayed correctly for PPA packages Status in Launchpad itself: Confirmed Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Binary package hint: software-center Version is 2.0.4, the one in Lucid Lynx. I can confirm this bug for Ubuntu 11.10 32 bit and Debian Wheezy 64 bit: Rhythmbox writes crap (i.e. the same artist all the time) to the ARTISTSORT tag in FLAC files on both systems. Any chance to get that fixed? jan@haktar:~$ gst-inspect flactag | grep Version Version: 0.10.30 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gstreamer0.10 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/622051 Title: Cannot change Artist Sort error, Rythmbox reports Internal GStreamer error Status in “gstreamer0.10” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Using Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS Rhythmbox frequently fails to change the Artist Sort Order property. I think I've seen similar errors on other properties as well. This has a high probability of occurring when changing multiple tracks at once e.g. switching a property an entire album. However, even though it's more likely to succeed if done track-by-track, it still happens even then. I'm using Rhythmbox to maintain a collection of Ogg Vorbis audio files, and these properties, I believe, are kept within the actual music files (but that's a guess on my part). When the action fails, I get two message boxes from Rhythmbox, and as expected, the property does not get changed in the track file. *Error while saving song information* internal data stream error *Error while saving song information* Internal GStreamer problem; file a bug rhythmbox: Installed: 0.12.8-0ubuntu7 libgstreamer0.10-0: Installed: 0.10.28-1 I would expect to be able to change the property - there is no reason it should prevent me. Usually, repeating the action on individual tracks will work. Sometimes, restarting Rhythmbox seems to help. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 941376] [NEW] Only one user on a computer can play html5/webm video
Public bug reported: I am bitten by this bug with current firefox (10.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.11.10.1) on 32-bit ubuntu oneiric for x86, although the problem is also in earlier versions of firefox and almost certainly affects any current ubuntu distribution. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=730656 To reproduce: 1. Start a ubuntu installation with only one user account on it 2. Go to, say, http://camendesign.com/code/video_for_everybody/test.html and play all or part of the html5/webm video there. 3. Create a new user. 4. Log out and log in as the new user. 5. Try to play the video: it won't. The patch I posted at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=730656 corrects this problem for me. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 941376] Re: Only one user on a computer can play html5/webm video
To save having to look up mozilla bugzilla, here is the patch. ** Patch added: Patch to fix caching problems https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/941376/+attachment/2784922/+files/mozilla-cache.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/941376 Title: Only one user on a computer can play html5/webm video Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I am bitten by this bug with current firefox (10.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.11.10.1) on 32-bit ubuntu oneiric for x86, although the problem is also in earlier versions of firefox and almost certainly affects any current ubuntu distribution. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=730656 To reproduce: 1. It is caused by incorrect use of temporary cache directories by firefox and/or incorrect permissions on the cache. I have not tested, but this bug probably affects all other mozilla products in ubuntu. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 826771] Re: indicator-appmenu leads to have a nautilus menubar displayed on top of the screen
Yes but this is much better to upload a new version of Nautilus with the new patch ( comment #48 ) instead of removing these appmenu-* packages or waiting for the release of Precise ;) If someone from ubuntu-sponsors team can help us to upload this new version, it will be helpful for anyone with this bug! ;) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/826771 Title: indicator-appmenu leads to have a nautilus menubar displayed on top of the screen Status in Unity Foundations: Fix Released Status in “gtk+3.0” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “gtk+3.0” source package in Oneiric: Invalid Status in “nautilus” source package in Oneiric: Triaged Bug description: [Impact] All non-Ubuntu session with Nautilus as the default file browser (and if there is no other panels on top of the nautilus menu bar ; e.g. a Cairo-Dock session ; a Gnome-Shell or Gnome-Classic session with a transparent top bar ; a Cinamon session, a XFCE session with nautilus as default file browser, etc.) [Development Fix] (we don't need to backport any application, simply apply the debdiff proposed on comment #48) [Stable Fix] A patch has been proposed and tested: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/826771/comments/48 (and after) A few information about this patch: if appmenu-gtk3 is installed, gtk_widget_hide function doesn't work for the top menubar (bug fixed on Precise). With this patch, menubar's widget is not created for the desktop nautilus window on non-ubuntu session. [Text Case] 1. Install gnome-shell and gnome-themes-standard 2. login gnome session 3. Apply gnome shell theme of using transparently panel. (ex. Delta-shell: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Delta+shell?content=143257 ) OR 1. Install Cairo-Dock 2. login Cairo-Dock session [Regression Potential] This patch seems to fix the bug #912379 caused by the previous patch (reverted in this version: 3.2.1-0ubuntu4.1). This menubar is not modified after because it's no longer registered to updates menu signals. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 941108] Re: fatal error SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0xb7302a02, pid=12336, tid=3026922336
v, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. One may execute at the Terminal: sudo apt-get -y install libreoffice-dbg uno-libs3-dbg ure-dbg openjdk-6-dbg sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/941108 Title: fatal error SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0xb7302a02, pid=12336, tid=3026922336 Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: JRE version: 6.0_23-b23 Java VM: OpenJDK Client VM (20.0-b11 mixed mode, sharing linux-x86 ) Derivative: IcedTea6 1.11pre Distribution: Ubuntu 11.10, package 6b23~pre11-0ubuntu1.11.10.2 Problematic frame: C [libuno_cppu.so.3+0x18a02] uno_type_isAssignableFromData+0x8420 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/941108/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

When logging in from the admin user, after clicking the switch user, the screen goes black (as if in screen saver) and then when I move the mouse, the screen returns to a lock screen screen (where I need to put the password for the admin user). If I try then to press the switch user button, the same things happens. After entering the password, I see a pop up window on the desktop: Failed to unlock: The name org.gnome.DisplayManager was not provided by any .service files The only way to login as a different user is first log out as the admin, then login as a different user. I tried the following: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get --reinstall install ubuntu-desktop but the problem persists. Please let me know what other data you require and I'll attach it. After entering the password, I see a pop up window on the desktop: Failed to unlock: The name org.gnome.DisplayManager was not provided by any .service files The only way to login as a different user is first log out as the admin, then login as a different user.
