I found it initially in an LDAP-based setup, but to nail down the problem I did a fresh re-install, added: session optional pam_mkhomedir.so umask=0077 skel=/etc/skel to /etc/pam.d/common-session and I removed the home directory of the user used during installation, so the bug has nothing to do with network auth. Anyway - when I login to lightdm I am successfully authenticated and the logon screen disappears, but I am presented with a black screen and nothing happens. I can login from text mode, the homedir is created and afterwards I can login, even using the graphical interface. I tried to see if this is related to lightdm or unity, but if I select Gnome classic, I get the same problem, if I switch to GDM, the problem remains. I am attaching the logs from lightdm. I can login from text mode, the homedir is created and afterwards I can login, even using the graphical interface. I tried to see if this is related to lightdm or unity, but if I select Gnome classic, I get the same problem, if I switch to GDM, the problem remains. I am attaching the logs from lightdm. I run ltsp also, and even if I remove NM completely, I think that Alkis's setup is interesting and would love to be able to use it also in the near future, so this "breakage" will affect me too. Having to manually comment out "#dns=dnsmasq" in /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf doesn't sound good, and if it stays that way, it should be moved to the bind9 and dnsmasq postinst scripts. Please make network-manager smarter so that it checks if bind9 or dnsmasq are installed, so that it doesn't start the local resolver in that case. The definition of the default color in main-window.vala is responsible for the initial background color, the other one is the fallback for if opening the image specified by the configuration fails. My question is, why is the initial background color shown at all? Why doesn't the configured image show instead? But when I used RB ( when RB was default MUsic browser in Ubuntu ) I was used to drag'n drop other covers form nautilus or Firefox directly. This last option doesn't work in Ubuntu precise. Network (LAN - eth0) works, so in fact I'm online and the notification is false. Notifications are set to disappear after 4 seconds, which they do, except this naughty one. Expected behaviour: The "Disconnected - you are now offline" notification should not appear or disappear after the selected amount of time. Public bug reported: I have a number of usr-written applications that involve drawing Arcs. The applications are written in C, using direct X11 calls, and Java, using AWT interface. When updating the graphics on screen, arcs get clipped where they shouldn't. I have come to the conclusion that this happens when another window is being help at the top layer of the stack, e.g. a window flagged as 'Always on Top', a Java dialog window or a Gnome notification popup. The clipping appears to treat the 'on top' window as if it covers the full width of the screen. Once the window is moved away, refreshing the window causes the arcs to draw properly. The clipping only affects Arcs, lines and text are not affected. I should add that my C applications do not use clipping, and refresh simply redraws the whole of the window - no attempt is made to refresh only the areas exposed. The applications all used to work under much earlier versions, e.g Ubuntu 8.04, but I can't say exactly when the bug appeared. My laptop is an Acer Extensa 5630E if that helps. I'd be grateful for any advice on circumventing this bug, and would be happy to assist in providing further information when required. I found it initially in an LDAP-based setup, but to nail down the problem I did a fresh re-install, added: session optional pam_mkhomedir.so umask=0077 skel=/etc/skel to /etc/pam.d/common-session and I removed the home directory of the user used during installation, so the bug has nothing to do with network auth. Anyway - when I login to lightdm I am successfully authenticated and the logon screen disappears, but I am presented with a black screen and nothing happens. I can login from text mode, the homedir is created and afterwards I can login, even using the graphical interface. I tried to see if this is related to lightdm or unity, but if I select Gnome classic, I get the same problem, if I switch to GDM, the problem remains. I am attaching the logs from lightdm. You have been subscribed to a public bug: My app uses a GTK3 ui created by Glade3.10. In the Glade file, there are some combobox with default "sensitive" settings (sensitive=yes), other with "non-sensitive" settings (sensitive=no) OBSERVED BEHAVIOR: When running my app (either in Ubuntu 11.10 or 12.04), all comboboxes (sensitive=yes or no) appear in what i will call "semi-sensitive" state: they behave like sensitive but their label is greyed (not the arrow, which is normally black, see attached screenshot). When the user moves the cursor above the combobox, the grey label becomes black (like a normal sensitive combobox). EXPECTED BEHAVIOR: the comboboxes should directly appear in the state chosen in the Glade file. WORKAROUND: in the code of my app, i send a signal to set the state of the combobox as "sensitive" to make it sensitive at start. If i want the combobox to appear "non-sensitive" at start, i need to send a signal to set the state of the combobox as "sensitive" then another one to set it "non-sensitive".
