[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1922353] Re: Overview sometimes fails to appear or disappear in 21.04
** Tags added: rls-ii-incoming -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1922353 Title: Overview sometimes fails to appear or disappear in 21.04 Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When I press the "windows" or "options" or "super" key a list of running applications (like alt-tab) and a text window appears. I can choose from the running applications or write a command into the text window. After I chose an application or press ESC all this disappear and I can do my thing. Since trying 21.04 sometimes this 1. does not appear properly - there is no visible text window 2. does not disappear - despite what I click on or what keys do I press this never disappear so I can not use my running applications or start anything new even from the menu. I have to log out and in to break this. Disabling my gnome-shell extensions or using xorg instead of wayland does not helps. Since upgrading this morning this happens every time I press Super, not just occasionally, thus making my desktop unusable. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1926050] Re: [radeon] Web benchmark freezing and crashing the system (Xorg crashes in Mesa's r600_dri.so)
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: apport-cli YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1926050 Title: [radeon] Web benchmark freezing and crashing the system (Xorg crashes in Mesa's r600_dri.so) Status in mesa package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in xserver-xorg-video-ati package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Expected behavior: perform the "Basemark Web 3.0" benchmark (Firefox 87 and 88), at most a loss of performance. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1922353 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1922353 Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug 1922353, so it is being marked as such. Please look at the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug. Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find. ** Package changed: wayland (Ubuntu) => gnome-shell (Ubuntu) ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1922353 Overview sometimes fails to appear or disappear in 21.04 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1927993 Title: Gnome Activities Overview Unresponsive to Mouse or Touchscreen Interaction Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: This also effects the Ubuntu Dock. Ubuntu 21.04 installed on a Micosoft Surface Go. When invoking the Activities Overview, the overview ceases to be responsive to mouse clicks or to touchscreen interaction. The only interaction to which it responds is the keyboard. Likewise, the Ubuntu Dock also ceases to respond to mouse gestures, clicks or to touchscreen interaction. Meanwhile, apps continue to respond to both Mouse and Touchscreen gestures. I haven't yet found a workaround. That said, I experimented yesterday with limiting myself to touchscreen interaction and the bug, for the period of time that used the system, didn't appear. It's possible that there's some kind of conflict between the mouse, touchscreen and Wayland usage? When used under a Xorg session, this Bug doesn't appear to affect the system. You have been subscribed to a public bug: Ubuntu 21.04 Documentscanner 3.38.1 When using the documentscanner about 10 times, without restarting the app, closing the previous scan (delete button), starting a new scan everytime, the background window (white) shows jitter/noise (in black) which will stay there every next scan. It may even become worse. The noise become part of the actual scan too! You will have to stop the app and reconnect the scanner. I've noticed this problem to be reproducable. See attached screen output. Kind regards, Gerard van Drielen ** Affects: simple-scan (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- Jitter/noise in document scan https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1927998 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to simple-scan in Ubuntu. -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Check that facebook isn't listed anymore but that the other providers still are. Since it's a build option change it could fail to build so check for that as well on launchpad. Since the facebook service currently doesn't consider gnome-online- accounts as a valid client there should be no user with that provider configured. Public bug reported: When switching from a power source (e.g., "Laptop battery") to another power source (e.g. "AC adapter"), where the latter does not have the tab which was selected in the former, then no information at all is displayed. Ubuntu 21.04, gnome-power-manager 3.32.0-2 Actual behavior === 1. `gnome-power-statistics` starts with "AC adapter" selected left and "Details" tab being shown on the right 2. So far, so good. 4. Click on "AC adapter" left again: Now, *nothing* is shown on the right. This should not happen. Expected behavior = 4. Click on "AC adapter": "Details" tab should be shown. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1927334] Re: [SRU] libreoffice 7.1.3 for hirsute
Hello Rico, or anyone else affected, Accepted libreoffice into hirsute-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/1:7.1.3-0ubuntu0.21.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed- hirsute to verification-done-hirsute. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-hirsute. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping! N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days. ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-hirsute -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1927334 Title: [SRU] libreoffice 7.1.3 for hirsute Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in libreoffice source package in Hirsute: Fix Committed Bug description: [Impact] * LibreOffice 7.1.3 is in its third bugfix release of the 7.1 line: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/7.1#7.1.3_release * Version 7.1.2 is currently released in hirsute. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1908082] Re: Ubuntu Firefox is 15% slower than Flatpak Firefox for speedometer benchmark
@Tynach, the symptoms you describe do advocate in favour of the toolchain/optimizations hypothesis. If upstream builds are not affected, wherease Ubuntu builds are, when both are run on the same platform, surely there is a difference in the optimizations used to produce the binary under test. That said I've tested your sample shader in shadertoy on Ubuntu 21.04, and while the framerate is not super constant it does hit 60FPS regularly (chromium is behaving better, also around 60FPS but with a much more constant framerate than firefox). That's with the firefox Ubuntu build, and the chromium snap. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1908082 Title: Ubuntu Firefox is 15% slower than Flatpak Firefox for speedometer benchmark Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Steps to reproduce: I installed Firefox Flatpak (https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.mozilla.firefox) and Chrome. The chosen OpenPGP key has both a sign/certify primary key, and an encryption subkey. What I expect to happen: When receiving an email encrypted with PGP/GPG I expect to be able to respond, encrypted with OpenPGP. What happens: I can decrypt the email, I can hit respond, but then receive the error: "You specified that this message should be digitally signed, but the application either failed to find the signing certificate specified in your Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings, or the certificate has expired." The "Options" -> "Encryption Technology" is set to S/MIME and choosing OpenPGP is not possible (grey). I'm surprised first, that I cannot choose OpenPGP (since the original sender does not have an S/MIME certificate and using OpenPGP is the only option to communicate securely in this case), and that apparently the *signing certificate* was missing. I searched the web a bit, some people suggested to reconfigure the key chosen with the account, but this does not change anything in my case. Sending the same person an email and encrypting it with OpenPGP works like a charm, it only fails when I reply to their emails. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1927513] Re: Failure to install chromium-browser/chromium snap
Yes, your symlink is very likely the cause of this error. You weren't seeing the problem in 18.04 because chromium was a a real deb package there, whereas starting with 20.04 it is packaged as a snap. This is not chromium-specific, all snaps would fail to install with such a setup. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1927751] Re: Firefox 89 beta for Impish in Mozilla Team Firefox Beta PPA is built without Wayland support
This was caused by the upload of libdrm 2.4.105-2 to the archive, and is now resolved in version 2.4.105-3 (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdrm/2.4.105-3). So the next build in the firefox-next PPA should have Wayland support again. ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1927751 Title: Firefox 89 beta for Impish in Mozilla Team Firefox Beta PPA is built without Wayland support Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: The Impish build of Firefox 89 beta in the PPA seems to be built without Wayland support. This of course causes it to work only in XWayland mode when running in Wayland, but also breaks VAAPI in both environments due to "DMABUF unavailable by default: Wayland support missing" as reported in about:support. I am reporting this here instead of upstream because the upstream builds are not affected by this issue (they have Wayland and VAAPI working) and also the Hirsute builds in the PPA have both things working properly. It seems limited to the Impish builds. Additionally, if I check the build logs for Impish, the only mention of Wayland seems to be the build dependency packages being installed. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1918269] Re: moving tabs to a new window no longer works.
So that's an upstream change, not specific to the chromium snap. Can you please file a bug at https://crbug.com/ and share the link here? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1918269 Title: moving tabs to a new window no longer works. Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Somewhat similar to bug #999632, but different and quite new. When I have a tab that I want to move to a NEW window, I used to be able to drag the tab and then when releasing it near the tab bar of another chromium window, it would snap into that window's tab list. This still works. But when I release the tab NOT near the tab bar of another window, it used to create a new window. This is convenient: I have multiple screens so when I decide I need to view this tab alongside something in my existing window, I drag the tab to create a new window on the other screen. Workaround: create a new window first then drag the tab there. But this "used to work". It is not necessary to do it like this. I liked it the old way. This changed somewhere in the last week. The behaviour swapped on my home computer yesterday (but it was still normal at work) and today I had to restart chromium (because all new tabs were reporting "aw snap!", reported in another bugreport) and now it's here too. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1925732] Re: [wayland] gnome window manager ignores the --geometry location request of the gnome-terminal
The definition of "confirmed" is that "Verified by someone other than the reporter.", hence in case of "gnome-terminal" it was wrong to remove the "confirmed" tag, since someone other than me reported as well that the "gnome-terminal" is affected, and hence it is totally right, that the "gnome-terminal" is non the list named "Affects" with the status of "Confirmed". No one told, that "gnome-terminal" is mainly responsible for the bug, but the title of the list is *not* "The responsible packages", *but* "Affects". And it is "Confirmed" that "gnome-terminal" is "Affected". Henc I ask someone else, especially who removed it, to put back the "Confirmed" status. Since the "opinion" or "invalid" vould be missleading, and simply the opposite of the real truth. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1925732 Title: [wayland] gnome window manager ignores the --geometry location request of the gnome-terminal Status in gnome-terminal package in Ubuntu: Opinion Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: Opinion Status in gnome-terminal package in Fedora: Invalid Bug description: The example "gnome-terminal --geometry=80x24+200+200" from the man page of gnome-terminal, does not work: while the 80x24 part of the geometry request is executed, the location +200+200 is overridden by the automatic positioning of new windows by the "Gnome Shell". [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1925732] Re: [wayland] gnome window manager ignores the --geometry location request of the gnome-terminal
The bug is clearly stated, reproducible and confirmed by others as well. Hence it can not be ONLY "invalid + opinion + opinion" at 3 packages, and no package is mentioned with "new" or "confirmed". It is acceptable, if someone's opinion is that "mutter is not new but opinion only". But it is not acceptable, if the same person does not mark any other package or the Ubuntu as a whole as "new" or "confirmed", --- since if all the packages mentioned already becomes either "invalid" or "opinion", then the bug report is rejected in fact, what would be a wrong decision since the bug is there confiredly. In fact, if wayland protocol is not advanced enough to provide the original standard facility to handle the positioning of windows, then ALL the packages that wish to use this original standard instead of the new facilities, all of them have the bug, because it is a buggy behaviour to rely on something what is not offerd by the underlying wayland. Therefore the releases 21.04 as a whole has this bug: makes something defuault what brakes the all the packages which wish to position the main window of it's own applications. A disturbing exampe: $ wmctrl -d Cannot get current desktop properties. (_NET_CURRENT_DESKTOP or _WIN_WORKSPACE property) $ wmctrl -l $ wmctrl -d does not "List all desktops managed by the window manager." wmctrl -l does not "List the windows being managed by the window manager." While the same "wmctrl" packages works fine with Xorg. However the "wmctrl" can not be added to the affected packages, since the bugs.launchpad does not accept "wmctrl" as an existing package! [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1925344] Re: [nvidia] Session not started after reboot (black screen) - requires switching tty back and forth
** Summary changed: - Session not started after reboot (black screen) - requires switching tty back and forth + [nvidia] Session not started after reboot (black screen) - requires switching tty back and forth -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-prime in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1925344 Title: [nvidia] Session not started after reboot (black screen) - requires switching tty back and forth Status in gdm3 package in Ubuntu: New Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-460 package in Ubuntu: New Status in nvidia-prime package in Ubuntu: New Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: After installation, the first boot works as expected - the system boots into a graphical shell login screen. However all subsequent reboots end up with a black screen with a blinking cursor in the top- left corner of the screen. To get to the login screen, one has to switch to a different tty (like tty2 with ctrl+alt+f2) and then to tty1. Running `prime-select query` shows `nvidia`. Interesting enough, when I change the nvidia-prime settings at least once, like to on-demand via `prime-select on-demand` - then everything starts working as expected. Even when I switch back to `nvidia`. Not sure which package I should fill this under.
