[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1811724] Re: libbd_mdraid.so.2: cannot open shared object file
Same on Ubuntu 20.04 both GA and HWE kernel. Sure, it just takes this command to find which package has it: $ apt-file search libbd_mdraid.so.2 And get "libblockdev-mdraid2", which does "fix" it, but I DON'T need it. Depends on packages I don't need, MOST don't need: $ apt show libblockdev-mdraid2 Depends: libblockdev-utils2 (>= 2.20), libbytesize1 (>= 2.1), libc6 (>= 2.27), libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.42.2), mdadm (>= 3.3.2) However it's the same on Raspbian for the Raspberry Pi, so it's more of a Debian problem. And installing that package then wants exim4 and all... A mail server?? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1939186] [NEW] Wayland causes arrow key scroll lock behavior when using Japanese or US-intl keyboard layouts
Public bug reported: After upgrading to Ubuntu 21.04 with Wayland as default, the arrow keys on my Japanese 108-key USB keyboard scroll in LibreOffice Calc as though scroll lock is toggled on (even though the scroll lock light is not on) instead of moving the cell in focus. (This happens with the US-intl keyboard layout too.) The arrow keys work as expected in other programs though, including LibreOffice Writer. If I switch to the default US keyboard layout, the arrow keys on the same keyboard work properly: moving the cell in focus. I tried removing grp_led:scroll from XKBOPTIONS="grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll" in /etc/default/keyboard, but that did not fix it. I also tried uninstalling LibreOffice and removing the config files as explained here, but that didn't fix it either. This was not a problem in Ubuntu 20.10 and the Japanese USB keyboard arrow keys work correctly in LibreCalc on Windows, so the issue appears to be specific to Ubuntu 21.04, not LibreOffice, nor this keyboard. As a workaround, if I start the session with Xorg instead, the arrow keys work as expected with any keyboard layout. Therefore, this bug appears to be related to Wayland. I was encouraged to file this bug report for gnome-shell in the comments on this AskUbuntu post: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1356052/why-do- japanese-keyboard-arrow-keys-scroll-in-libreoffice-calc-but-move-cell- wit/1356059?noredirect=1#comment2321519_1356059 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 21.04 Package: gnome-shell 3.38.4-1ubuntu3~21.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.11.0-25.27-generic 5.11.22 Uname: Linux 5.11.0-25-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu65.1 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: unknown CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sat Aug 7 12:18:23 2021 DisplayManager: gdm3 InstallationDate: Installed on 2020-02-05 (548 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 19.10 "Eoan Ermine" - Release amd64 (20191017) RelatedPackageVersions: mutter-common 3.38.4-1ubuntu2 SourcePackage: gnome-shell UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) modified.conffile..etc.apport.crashdb.conf: [modified] mtime.conffile..etc.apport.crashdb.conf: 2021-07-06T20:58:08.463515 ** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug hirsute wayland-session -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1939186 Title: Wayland causes arrow key scroll lock behavior when using Japanese or US-intl keyboard layouts Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: After upgrading to Ubuntu 21.04 with Wayland as default, the arrow keys on my Japanese 108-key USB keyboard scroll in LibreOffice Calc as though scroll lock is toggled on (even though the scroll lock light is not on) instead of moving the cell in focus. Official support for Ubuntu 12.04.5 ended on April 28, 2017. Official support for Ubuntu 12.10 ended on May 16, 2014. Does this problem still occur on Ubuntu 21.04? ** Changed in: poppler (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to poppler in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1084643 Title: Colour casting on black text using the default renderer pdftops (workaround: use gs) Status in poppler package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: For some time now (I think the bug is not specific to Ubuntu 12.10 but also present in 12.04), I am having trouble when printing black text with an HP Color LaserJet CP1515n, that worked fine on previous Ubuntu releases and from other Operating Systems. The output is kind of ok, but black text does has a slight red cast, making it look fuzzy. The problem exists when printing from LibreOffice, Firefox and Evince. Trying different settings and drivers to debug the problem, I came to the conclusion that the problem is on the pdftops default renderer. On LibreOffice, I went to File - Printer Settings - Properties - Device - Printer Language Type and chose Postscript (Level from driver). For Firefox and Evince I just used this command from the command line: $ lpadmin -p "HP-Color-LaserJet-cp1515n" -o pdftops-renderer- default=gs (use "pdftops-renderer-default=pdftops" to restore the default) Using this settings (gs), the printing results are fine. $ dpkg -l poppler-utils hplip cups Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend |/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name Version Architecture Description +++-==---= ii cups 1.6.1-0ubunt amd64Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii hplip 3.12.6-3ubun amd64HP Linux Printing and Imaging Sys ii poppler-utils 0.20.4-0ubun amd64PDF utilities (based on Poppler) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/poppler/+bug/1084643/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I vote we close this issue as WONTFIX (I don't have permission to set WONTFIX status on this issue). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508220 Title: Lucid alpha 2: first 21 characters of Synaptic "Applying changes" status line are italic Status in gtk+2.0 package in Ubuntu: New Status in synaptic package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Lucid alpha 2: first 21 characters of Synaptic "Applying changes" status line (e.g. Preparing blahpackage0-dev) are italic, while the rest of the characters are not. This isn't a major issue, and is purely cosmetic. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 192508] Re: mouse keys too easy to accidently turn on
There seems to be something missing from my edit of comment #111 so Although the shortcut of Shift+NumLock still exists in the current development release (impish) there has been no comment from anyone affected by this issue in the last eight days since my comment #111. Also, as there has been no discussion regarding this issue for over seven years now I'm closing this bug report with a status of "Opinion" as it is not something that seems to have affected any users in that time. ** No longer affects: hundredpapercuts ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Opinion ** Changed in: vino Status: Incomplete => Opinion ** Changed in: gnome-control-center Status: Incomplete => Opinion ** Changed in: xorg-server Status: Incomplete => Opinion -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/192508 Title: mouse keys too easy to accidently turn on Status in gnome-control-center: Opinion Status in vino: Opinion Status in X.Org X server: Opinion Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Opinion Bug description: I am using Hardy Heron and several times now I have tried to use my number pad only to discover that they now move the mouse. I don't know if there is a short cut key I am hitting on accident, but it is rather annoying. Then sometimes when I disable mouse keys, the numlock becomes switched so that the system thinks numlock is on when the light is off and vice-versa. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1932328] Re: Thunderbird under Wayland does not correctly close (or manage) windows
Hi, Since a few weeks, I have a problem with Thunderbird (current version 78.12) and Ubuntu Dock / Dash to Dock in Ubuntu 21.10 : When I write a new message and send it, after the message window has closed, its red dot remains near Thunderbird button on the Ubuntu dock - there are 2 dots: the one of main TB window (receipt box) and a second one as if there was another window still opened. But if I switch to another application - Firefox, Gedit, Nautilus, no matter… - and then with the mouse (left button) click on Thunderbird icon, desktop freezes completely, I have to manually close the computer and restart it. All is frozen, mouse nor Alt-Tab don't work, but if for example Radiotray was active, I can still hear the audio program live. If I just roll the middle button on the mouse to switch on Thunderbird and not click, it doesn't freeze. But to be back on TB main window, I must before minimize all other applications, then run somewhere in TB interface (not on Dash button), or roll is useless and doesn't show Thunderbird. If I open a window for a new message, don't send it and just close it, only one red dot stays and no freeze, even with a left button click. I also report the bug upstream. If I open a window for a new message, don't send it and just close it, only one red dot stays and no freeze, even with a left button click. I also report the bug upstream. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1938683] Re: Thunderbird still running after being closed
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users. ** Changed in: thunderbird (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1938683 Title: Thunderbird still running after being closed Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The "number of windows" indicator in the Ubuntu Dash (the orange dots to the left of the app icon) is not cleared for Thunderbird, when a new e-mail is written in a new window. Ultimately, the indicators stay visible even after Thunderbird is closed completely, and it's no longer possible to launch thunderbird by left-clicking of the dash icon (middle-click works okay). Steps to reproduce: 1. Launch Thunderbird. There is one orange dot to the left of the thunderbird icon. 2. Write an e-mail and close the e-mail window 3. Observe that there are now two orange dots to the left of the thunderbird icon. Please see the screenshot for more details. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1939058] Re: autopkgtest failure "stacking/override-redirect.metatest" on armhf
Also seems to be failing occasionally upstream: https://gitlab.gnome.org/vanvugt/mutter/-/jobs/1440204 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1939058 Title: autopkgtest failure "stacking/override-redirect.metatest" on armhf Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: https://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/results/autopkgtest- impish/impish/armhf/m/mutter/20210805_091629_afb25@/log.gz Window manager warning: Buggy client sent a _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW message with a timestamp of 0 for 0x43 not ok 18 stacking/override-redirect.metatest 15: stacking: expected='1/2 | 1/1', actual='| 1/1 1/2' From the test history on armhf, it appears this particular test case intermittently passes or fails about half the time. Other architectures have been passing all tests reliably without errors. Presumably the stacking order is non-deterministic on armhf for some reason? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1937988] Re: The image is distorted while use iGPU rendering and output via AMD GPU
** Description changed: - [Steps to reproduce] + [Impact] + Image is distorted with PRIME, caused by mismatch in stride alignment between intel and amdgpu/nvidia after intel bumped the alignment to 256 bytes. + + [Fix] + Upstream fixed it in 21.2-series, and backport to 21.0.x needs four commits in total. + + [Test case] 1. Connect a monitor on the AMD GPU. 2. Power on the system and boot into OS. - 3. Run below command to launch glxgear + 3.
