[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1972790] Re: Can't connect to hotspot created on ubuntu

2022-10-05 Thread Baker
My machine can't connect with the ubuntu software, when wpa_supplicant version
is 2.10. On the version 2.9 of wpa_supplicant, the machine can connect with
that. But, the internet does not work.
After the firewall of the ubuntu software is disable, my machine can connect
the internet. But the internet is not available if I enable the firewall,
again. Even if only the hotspot is handled as an exception in the firewall, the
result is the same.

Title:
Can't connect to hotspot created on ubuntu

Status in wpa package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
We currently have older systems (18.04) with hotspot's and we will migrate to
22.04.
Anything work's fine, expect the hotspot.
The Hotspot will be created and is visible in the WLAN-List, but if the
security is set to "WPA & WPA2 Personal" we get the error message "Failed to
connect to the network".
If we change the Security to "WPA3 Personal" we get the error message
"Invalid Password", even if the password is correct.
As soon we remove the security (change it to "none"), we can connect with out
any problems.

We can reproduce it with a fresh installtion of the Ubuntu Server
22.04 and the following two commands:

  apt install network-manager

nmcli c add type wifi ifname wlp3s0 con-name Hotspot autoconnect yes
  ssid test-ap 802-11-wireless.mode ap 802-11-wireless.band bg
  802-11-wireless.mac-address "80:45:dd:f0:27:ba" wifi-sec.group ccmp
  wifi-sec.key-mgmt wpa-psk wifi-sec.pairwise ccmp wifi-sec.proto rsn
  wifi-sec.psk "test12345" ipv4.addresses 192.168.60.1/24 ipv4.method
shared && nmcli connection up Hotspot

We thought it could be similar to this issue:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpa/+bug/1958267
Because if we test it with 20.04 it worked fine, because 20.04 uses the
Version 2:2.9.0-21build1 as described in the Ticket.

  As @Sebastian Bacher suggested
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpa/+bug/1958267/comments/58), i
created a own report.
In the attachment is the requested log file.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1985869] Re: Failed to post KMS update: CRTC property (GAMMA_LUT) not found and Page flip discarded: CRTC property (GAMMA_LUT) not found

2022-10-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Dropped severity again. I forgot this bug only affects Alder Lake if
you're using an old kernel. It doesn't happen with Intel graphics in the
5.19 kernel, although it may still happen on Matrox in 5.19.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1991777] Re: gnome-shell deadlocked on startup

2022-10-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1985869 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1985869

It's these errors:

[69492.694398] michal-laptop gnome-shell[825407]: Failed to post KMS update:
CRTC property (GAMMA_LUT) not found
[69492.694448] michal-laptop gnome-shell[825407]: Page flip discarded: CRTC
property (GAMMA_LUT) not found

That's a regression of something we already fixed. It regressed when
upstream redesigned the fix. Already tracking in bug 1985869.

  gnome-shell deadlocked on startup

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
My Ubuntu session is currently impossible to launch. Upon trying, I
get a couple ~blank displays, sometimes along with a cursor at the
  position it was in GDM.

Only way out is `chvt …`, or killing gnome-shell, over SSH.

"Ubuntu on Xorg" works fine. The wayland session does work for a test
  user as well.

"Highlight current line" and changed the application theme to "Yaru-

This is not a theme that I would normally use so I'm not too bothered

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1960747] Re: [Lenovo Yoga 7] Autorotation of screen does not work on wayland, but on X

2022-10-05 Thread Gavin Graham
I have a Lenovo Yoga 7 Gen7 (14ial7) 12thGen Intel CPU and I am having
the exact same issue. Monitor-sensor reports everything is correct and
yet the rotation doesn't work under Wayland but it does with X.

Only adding a comment here are this is another model number of a 2-in-1
exhibiting this issue. I can collect hardware info but I have attached
the output of lshw.

  [ Impact ]

I'm seeing duplicate appindicators for snaps built with core22, like
  mattermost-desktop and discord.

  [ Test case ]

  From shell point of view:
   - Lock / unlock your desktop multiple times

With applications (both cases must be fixed):
   1) Electron apps
  - Install ferdium (https://github.com/ferdium/)
  - Open it in guest mode, go to settings
  - Toggle the "Always Show Ferdium in System Tray" option multiple times
  - Once disabled indicators should go away and be added again

   2) KDE Status Notification apps
  - Download Telegram desktop (snap install telegram-desktop)
  - Run it with:
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=KDE Telegram
or
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=KDE telegram-desktop
  - Disable notificationn area icon and enable it again
  - The icon should be hidden and shown again accordingly

  [ Regression potential ]

   - Icon could not show at all or with the wrong content
   - Icon updates may lead to more CPU usage
   - Updated to icon could not be properly visible

But here I don't « manually » make use of cups.

With those kinds of Ricoh printers, for years it's just plug'n'play sort
of speaking.

thumbnail, as in previous Ubuntu versions (at least 16.04 and before):
For mp3 files the embedded image (e.g. album cover), and for mkv files

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1991809] Re: App search based on mime type returns nothing

2022-10-05 Thread Matthias Klumpp
You can verify whether this is an issue with GNOME Software or your metadata by
opening a terminal and running this command:
appstreamcli what-provides mediatype application/epub+zip

If that yields results, it means that you have the metadata but GNOME
Software doesn't read ir properly for some reason.

You have the button " look for compatible apps" which is great

however , gnome-software returns no apps for "application/epub+zip"
mime type althou calibre and others can handle them

is this a problem with appsstream ?

I think THIS IS a very important feature ..

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1935070] Re: Traceback during 'ubuntu-drivers list'

2022-10-05 Thread Jeff Lane 
I made a PR on github to address the exception handling which I think is
the best course here. Adding a dependency on alsa-utils will result in
adding further unwanted desktop packages on systems where they don't
really belong (anything with Ubuntu Server installed).

Just removing the traceback to clean the output and providing a helpful
error message is sufficient, IMO.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1964036] Re: Firefox icon missing from panel following Kubuntu upgrade 20.04->22.04

2022-10-05 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Richard, if this is the same problem being investigated here, then what
would explain the icon disappearing is the firefox deb being
uninstalled. You can check /var/log/apt/history.log* for info on when
and why that happened. Note that this shouldn't/wouldn't have happened
if you launched firefox at least once, because the launcher script from
the transitional deb has some logic to rewrite the target of the
favourite to point to the snap instead of the deb.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1991777] Re: gnome-shell deadlocked on startup

2022-10-05 Thread Michał Sawicz
So. I've removed `~/.config/dconf/user` and now I can start the session
again. The only difference in GsettingsChanges is the list of
notification apps (which, btw, could possibly be considered sensitive,
and could be redacted by apport).

Setting it back to the value when the session was broken didn't break it
again.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1991780] [NEW] Changes in display configuration couses crash in gnome-shell and logout

2022-10-05 Thread Alex Barmaglot
Public bug reported:

If i try to configure multiple monitor setup, it is often causes logout,
that i even can't press "keep changes" button. Also it happens that
Ubuntu user suddenly logs-out when i unplug one of the monitors.

Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS 64 bit
GNOME Version 42.4
Windowing System Wayland

I fond there is a gnome-shell crash report in /var/crash, and if i try to see
the back-trace i get following

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1991777] [NEW] gnome-shell deadlocked on startup

2022-10-05 Thread Michał Sawicz
Public bug reported:

My Ubuntu session is currently impossible to launch. Upon trying, I get
a couple ~blank displays, sometimes along with a cursor at the position
it was in GDM.

Only way out is `chvt …`, or killing gnome-shell, over SSH.

"Ubuntu on Xorg" works fine. The wayland session does work for a test
user as well.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1991777] Re: gnome-shell deadlocked on startup

2022-10-05 Thread Michał Sawicz
I had these set in my profile to deal with other issues:

```
export MUTTER_DEBUG_FORCE_KMS_MODE=simple
export MUTTER_DEBUG_ENABLE_ATOMIC_KMS=0
export MUTTER_DEBUG_DISABLE_HW_CURSORS=1
```

Unsetting them didn't help.

I don't have any extensions beyond what's default.

Bug description:
The problem started to appear 2 weeks ago after one of my daily
updates. It also happens after I re-install the system from a freshly
downloaded ISO file. The system freezes at the moment, it starts the
  gnome display manager.

I file the bug-report after a partial upgrade just before I will
reboot the system. If needed I can reboot in recovery mode, since the
gnome display manager is not started in that case.

I tried the continue button without effect and also "apt upgrade" and
"apt dist-upgrade" do have the same effect

I run the VM from the Host-OpenZFS file system, so I can restore to
before the update. Recently I use a Virtualbox snapshot to restore the
  system to before the update/upgrade.

If you need log files, let me know.

While reporting Bug #1973469, I discovered that ubuntu-bug was unable
to open Firefox at the very end of the process. Sadly, I closed the
terminal window that contained the initial error, but I was able to
easily reproduce it reporting this bug. The full console output of
"ubuntu-bug apport" on Lubuntu Kinetic is:

I am unsure if this problem is in Apport or Lubuntu. ubuntu-bug works
just fine for me on Ubuntu Kinetic, but not on Lubuntu. I suspect this
is due to the Snap version of Firefox, but I don't know for sure.
Since ubuntu-bug is what gave me the error, I'm filing this against
  Apport.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1990113] Re: Increase timeout on test doc-check for RISC-V

2022-10-05 Thread Alexandre Ghiti
At the moment, RISC-V is built with the dpkg nocheck flag so this error
does not show up for now. But I'm working on fixing all the nocheck
related errors and this patch is part of it. I'll send the patch to
Debian instead as it is not urgent.
