[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1736176]
The key and the implementation actually work well but, as commented before, some hardware abuses it for other purpose. So I suggest to block the scroll lock handling with an expert option (tools > options > advanced: UseScrollLock; on by default, of course). Tentative patch at https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/154528 Scroll lock does not work for kf5 and gtk4 but gen, gtk3 and qt6 on Linux. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1736176 Title: [upstream] Can't jump between cells when non-english input layout is active Status in LibreOffice: In Progress Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Can't jump between LibreOffice Calc cells by arrow keys when non- english input layout is active. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to totem in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2028016 Title: Drop Channels feature? Status in totem package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Ubuntu's default video app, Totem, includes a Channels tab with 3 web video providers: - Apple Movie Trailers - Euronews - Rai.tv Screenshot attached. I recommend that we disable this feature because - These are somewhat obscure video sources - It can be unexpected to parents, school administrators, etc. for this app to be able to view web content - Perhaps most importantly, none of these 3 sources seemed to work today in my clean Ubuntu 23.04 install. + Apple Movie Trailers worked after I installed additional gstreamer plugins which aren't installed by default. + Based on the errors shown in my terminal, it looks like Euronews either changed their API or it's no longer available. - If these channels can be broken and we aren't getting bug reports, are people actually even using this feature? Implementation -- This feature is enabled by some plugins shipped in totem's src/plugins . They can be disabled by the meson build. Also, totem depends on grilo-plugins-0.3-base which provides supporting files. None of the plugins works if that dependency is removed. We would then also need to patch Totem to no longer show the Channels page in the Totem app. To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/2028016/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1956916] Re: Using certain xkb-options, e.g. Alt+Shift, for switching input sources not reflected by the input source indicator in a wayland session
Okay, the solution suggested in this gitlab issue comment fixes it for me: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome- shell/-/issues/4511#note_1309852 The solution is to skip gnome-tweaks altogether and instead set a custom shortcut using gsettings: $ gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings switch-input-source "['Alt_L']" $ gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings switch-input-source-backward "['Shift_L']" Caveat: if you have more than two layouts, this works a bit weird: Alt+Shift does cycle between the layouts normally but Shift+Alt just cycles between the last two, so be careful with how you press it. I tried variations of these commands where I switch the shortcuts around or use the same one or leave one out but couldn't find anything that doesn't behave weirdly; perhaps I haven't tried hard enough though. ** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues #4511 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/4511 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956916 Title: Using certain xkb-options, e.g. Alt+Shift, for switching input sources not reflected by the input source indicator in a wayland session Status in GNOME Shell: New Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Currently, there is no way to define Left Alt + Left Shift key combination to change keyboard layouts in Ubuntu 22.04. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2028016] [NEW] Drop Channels feature?
Public bug reported: Ubuntu's default video app, Totem, includes a Channels tab with 3 web video providers: - Apple Movie Trailers - Euronews - Rai.tv Screenshot attached. ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Triaged ** Tags: mantic ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2023-07-17 16-35-28.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2028016/+attachment/5686891/+files/Screenshot%20from%202023-07-17%2016-35-28.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to totem in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2028016 Title: Drop Channels feature? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1888619] Re: [Satellite A200, Realtek ALC268, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all
I didn't manage to achieve sound even with boot CD, even with other versions. I suspect a hardware issue. Anyway, that computer has been dismissed for unrelated hardware issues, so the bug can be closed, now -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1888619 Title: [Satellite A200, Realtek ALC268, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: In the past I had sound (crackling, but working). After some editing of the alsa configuration I managed to get the correct sound. Then, when updating to version 18 uf Ubuntu LTS, it disappeared, and all my attempts to mess with configuration files to restore it failed. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1923363] Re: Users are not added to various groups (dialout, video, etc.)
Per vorlon's comments on the merge request, I've closed the merge and will re-submit an alternative method using udev rules instead of group membership. Adding ubuntu-settings for the udev rules, and cloud-init as we presumably want to remove membership in those groups from server instances too. ** Tags added: foundations-todo ** Summary changed: - Users are not added to various groups (dialout, video, etc.) + Grant access to hardware (UARTs, I2C, etc.) via custom udev rules ** Also affects: ubuntu-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu Impish) Status: New => Won't Fix ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu Jammy) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu Kinetic) Status: New => Won't Fix ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu Lunar) Status: New => Won't Fix ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu Mantic) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu Impish) Status: Won't Fix => Invalid ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu Jammy) Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu Kinetic) Status: Won't Fix => Invalid ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu Lunar) Status: Won't Fix => Invalid ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu Mantic) Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Changed in: ubuntu-settings (Ubuntu Impish) Status: New => Won't Fix ** Changed in: ubuntu-settings (Ubuntu Jammy) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: ubuntu-settings (Ubuntu Kinetic) Status: New => Won't Fix ** Changed in: ubuntu-settings (Ubuntu Lunar) Status: New => Won't Fix ** Changed in: ubuntu-settings (Ubuntu Mantic) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: user-setup (Ubuntu Impish) Status: Won't Fix => Invalid ** Changed in: user-setup (Ubuntu Jammy) Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Changed in: user-setup (Ubuntu Kinetic) Status: Won't Fix => Invalid ** Changed in: user-setup (Ubuntu Lunar) Status: Won't Fix => Invalid ** Changed in: user-setup (Ubuntu Mantic) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-settings in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1923363 Title: Grant access to hardware (UARTs, I2C, etc.) via custom udev rules Status in cloud-init package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in ubuntu-settings package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in user-setup package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in cloud-init source package in Impish: Won't Fix Status in ubiquity source package in Impish: Invalid Status in ubuntu-settings source package in Impish: Won't Fix Status in user-setup source package in Impish: Invalid Status in cloud-init source package in Jammy: Confirmed Status in ubiquity source package in Jammy: Invalid Status in ubuntu-settings source package in Jammy: Confirmed Status in user-setup source package in Jammy: Invalid Status in cloud-init source package in Kinetic: Won't Fix Status in ubiquity source package in Kinetic: Invalid Status in ubuntu-settings source package in Kinetic: Won't Fix Status in user-setup source package in Kinetic: Invalid Status in cloud-init source package in Lunar: Won't Fix Status in ubiquity source package in Lunar: Invalid Status in ubuntu-settings source package in Lunar: Won't Fix Status in user-setup source package in Lunar: Invalid Status in cloud-init source package in Mantic: Confirmed Status in ubiquity source package in Mantic: Invalid Status in ubuntu-settings source package in Mantic: Confirmed Status in user-setup source package in Mantic: Invalid Bug description: We're attempting to make the GPIO system on the Raspberry Pi images work "out of the box" on the new image. By default, GPIO kernel devices are made available to members of the "dialout" group which the initial user is added to by default on our server images. However, we've noticed that this isn't the case on the desktop images. The regression potential is minimal; the group already exists and we're simply adding the freshly created user to a new group and not removing any existing memberships. The group in question ("dialout") is also rarely used these days except for providing access to serial consoles, and as mentioned above is already a default membership on the server images. The change has been tested on the desktop image successfully. A test build of the updated image will be made under https://launchpad.net/~waveform/+archive/ubuntu/ubiquity and I'll attach a debdiff shortly. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2027986] Re: /usr/bin/gjs-console:free(): invalid pointer
This doesn't seems something easy to understand, because `org.gnome.Shell.Extensions` could be loading *ANY* kind of javascript code that is imported from gnome extensions. Some of this code is definitely setting a wrong pango text, and gjs thus doesn't free it properly. It could be also an issue due to wrong JS-string -> C-string mapping in gjs but it's very hard to reproduce for me. ** Description changed: + Some JS traces I see are: + + + Jul 14 18:52:30 zerocool gjs[114030]: Attempting to run a JS callback during garbage collection. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2025538] Re: Unrequested kernel update
Hi, on 23.04 again nvidia driver and kernel problems... had the same issue back in march under 22.10 with funny flickering screens to total black and back just after an update and therefore a totally unusable system, and guess? no maintainer showed interest in that messed up situation, so out of luck after several weeks and one upgrade to 23.04 with a persistent problem (lmao seriously the problem survived the transition from 22.10 to 23.04) i had updated the nvidia driver to the "beta" 535 driver and had a usable system... Now just 3 months later there it is again the same friggin problem with flickering screens and unusable system... hope that this bug request will result in some kind of patch with workable kernel and driver... but i lost hope and go to check if there is some "new" "betastyle" nvidia driver package greater than 535 in hope that i have again a usable system for at least 3 months until the game starts again... Seriously dear maintainers, take a deep breath, do a honest self assessment and recognize your abilities and accept them, afterwards you can implement then a rollback mechanism for updates in apt and snap so that we users haven't to suffer any more and can at least roll one update back to something more usable instead of hoping that you get that stuff right before the sun freezes... sorry but i'm really frustrated and disappointed with the overall situation regarding the nvidia drivers... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-drivers-common in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2025538 Title: Unrequested kernel update Status in linux-restricted-modules package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in linux-signed-nvidia-5.19 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-535 package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in ubuntu-drivers-common package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Running Kubuntu 22.04 LTS (lsb_release -a: Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS) I was informed that new packages are available and I just hit update. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2026762] Re: gpu is not deceted
That error is irrelevant to this bug. It's also irrelevant to Ubuntu since that's not a repository we support. When you saw a change in behaviour it was probably just an update to the 'nvidia-prime' package which made 'prime-select' actually start checking for an integrated GPU. But since your machine has no integrated GPU the message "Error: no integrated GPU detected" is correct and not a bug. I am sorry for not answering earlier, but life got in the way. I confirm that your assumptions about the setup that causes the problem (Xorg + GTK apps) are correct; I have tested your ppa3 version, and the bug I had is gone. Many thanks for your help with this issue @gunnarhj ! Federico -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ibus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1996652 Title: Nautilus search is slow and jumbles keyboard input on 22.10 Status in ibus: New Status in ibus package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Since my upgrade to 22.10, I've found the search box in Nautilus (files) essentially unusable. It is notably sluggish to launch and browse in general. But most detrimental to the usability is this: The characters do not appear in real time as I type. When they do appear, they are sometimes jumbled or in reverse (consistently reproducible). As I type in the file search box, the circular cursor spins intermittently, then the UI catches up and it's not what I typed. For example, I just typed "umbrella" into the search box, and Nautilus searched for: "umballer" Off-the-cuff test #2, searched for "Ubuntu" and I ended up with "Ubunut" ... you can't make this up. :-) Test #3, typed Launchpad, ended up with a search for "Laudaphcn". Keyboard input everywhere else on the system is otherwise normal and snappy. No pun intended, really.
