[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1376335] Re: XFCE printer GUI does not set the default printer when there is only one printer

2015-01-05 Thread Alan Ott
I am no longer able to reproduce this bug. I think this may have been
fixed in an update.

I currently show system-config-printer-common 1.5.1+20141010-0ubuntu2

Thanks for fixing it and/or checking it out.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1376335] Re: XFCE printer GUI does not set the default printer when there is only one printer

2014-10-06 Thread Alan Ott
Running system-config-printer from the command line opens the same
printer configuration tool which is opened by the XFCE Settings program.

XFCE uses system-config-printer as its printer settings tool, and the
bug I describe is indeed a bug in system-config-printer.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1371943] Re: https links don't click

2014-10-01 Thread Alan Ott
Further, clicking an https:// link will cause Thunderbird to go into a
state where it uses around 12% of the CPU (on my system) and starts
touching the hard drive every 1/2 second. Once in this state,
Thunderbird will not close properly, and must be killed with kill -15
after the GUI has been closed.

The Error Console shows no errors, warnings, or messages for this.

1a: The link should open in Firefox

Again, regular, unencrypted http:// links work fine.

In Preferences, under Attachments, in the Incoming tab, there is an
entry for http:// but not for https:// in the list of "attachment"
types. There is no way to add anything to this list.

Thanks!

Alan.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1366688] Re: Evince does not save settings at all

2014-09-11 Thread Alan Ott
Evince does update dconf, but doesn't seem to do anything with the
settings at startup.

Title:
Evince does not save settings at all

Status in “evince” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Using evince version 3.10.3 on Ubuntu 14.04. Tried every way I could
think to change the default settings to remove the sidebar and set
  default view to fit-width.

  1. Used dconf Editor to ensure show-sidebar and show-toolbar was deselected
and sizing-mode was set to fit-width (see attached screenshot).
  2. Created a new PDF file. I opened the file and saw that the sidebar was
still there and sizing was fit-page.
  3. I corrected the view and used Save Current Settings As Default to save the
settings
  4. Used File -> Close to close the file
  5. Opened the file in Evince again and the sidebar was still there and sizing
was still fit-page. I would have attached a second screenshot but the website
doesn't allow more than one.

I have scanned the internet for this bug, but most responses were for
much older versions and/or claimed to be resolved, though I couldn't
find an explanation of how they were resolved. The closest thing I
could find was a complaint about viewing size being saved at 80%
  instead of 100%.
