[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2038727] Re: Chromium snap theme parsing error
I'll take a good guess that you cannot actually notice the visual difference between Adwaita and Adwaita-modified in Chromium — please confirm or deny this. That is correct. No visual difference between Adwaita and Adwaita_modified. My modifications are only to the GTK-2.0 portion of the theme (scrollbar slider width and some minor text/background color changes). For GTK-3.0 related changes I use /home/aej/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css which snap/chromium seems to have no problem accessing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2038727 Title: Chromium snap theme parsing error Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Chromium Version 117.0.5938.149 (Official Build) snap (64-bit) not following my GTK theme. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2038727] Re: Chromium snap theme parsing error
---> But before we continue, please clarify this: You only notice it not only in the stderr log but also in the user interface itself, which doesn't use your custom theme, as it did before that release, right? I first noticed the problem when I started the chromium snap normally using a desktop file. It was not using my system theme like all previous versions of the chromium snap. It was using some sort of dark theme where my system theme is light. At that point I started the chromium snap from the terminal where I noticed the "Permission denied" error I mention in the Bug Description. <--- ---> How do you set your theme? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2038727] Re: Chromium snap theme parsing error
The "Theme parsing error" in the Bug Description appears to be a permission error. The theme I am using is based on Adwaita. I copied /usr/share/themes/Adwaita to /home/aej/.local/share/themes/Adwaita_modified and modified the gtk-2.0 portion of the theme. /home/aej/.local/share/themes/Adwaita_modified/gtk-3.0/gtk.css contains: /* Adwaita is now part of GTK+ 3, this file is no longer used */ @import url("resource:///org/gtk/libgtk/theme/Adwaita/gtk-contained.css"); The results from $snap connections chromium: Interface PlugSlot Notes audio-playbackchromium:audio-playback :audio-playback - audio-record chromium:audio-record :audio-record - bluez chromium:bluez :bluez - browser-support chromium:browser-sandbox :browser-support- camerachromium:camera :camera - content chromium:foo-install-cups - - content[gnome-42-2204]chromium:gnome-42-2204 gnome-42-2204:gnome-42-2204 - content[gtk-3-themes] chromium:gtk-3-themes gtk-common-themes:gtk-3-themes - content[icon-themes] chromium:icon-themes gtk-common-themes:icon-themes - content[sound-themes] chromium:sound-themes gtk-common-themes:sound-themes - cups chromium:cups cups:cups - desktop chromium:desktop:desktop - desktop-legacychromium:desktop-legacy :desktop-legacy - gsettings chromium:gsettings :gsettings - home chromium:home :home - joystick chromium:joystick :joystick - mount-observe chromium:mount-observe - - mpris - chromium:mpris - network chromium:network:network - network-bind chromium:network-bind :network-bind - network-manager chromium:network-manager- - openglchromium:opengl :opengl - password-manager-service chromium:password-manager-service - - personal-fileschromium:chromium-config :personal-files - personal-fileschromium:dot-local-share-applications :personal-files - personal-fileschromium:dot-local-share-icons :personal-files - raw-usb chromium:raw-usb- - removable-media chromium:removable-media :removable-media- screen-inhibit-controlchromium:screen-inhibit-control :screen-inhibit-control - system-files chromium:etc-chromium-browser-policies :system-files - system-packages-doc chromium:system-packages-doc :system-packages-doc- u2f-devices chromium:u2f-devices:u2f-devices - unity7chromium:unity7 :unity7 - upower-observechromium:upower-observe :upower-observe - wayland chromium:wayland:wayland - x11 chromium:x11:x11 - As I stated in the Bug Description, this theme has never been a problem for previous versions of the Chromium snap.
